hello i have made 3 jets and the first 2 i did scavenge round reedplates from an outboard engine but they dont last for long and changed over to v shaped reeds they work perfect... did also made the nose like an venturi to atomize the fuel.. the fuel was delivered in the center of intake with a cone shape to get it self suck the fuel... i used ordinary gasoline and got a very good trust.. but be ware it can create a mess and take fire everywhere.. did burn down a door in the garage after a backpuff but it is fun anyway..... very nice video and the jet looks supernice.. keep up the fantastic work
nice work! what a beast. not sure how long the reeds are going to last.... not much surface aera to support them with that valve plate opened up that much but it should flow alot of air for sure. you mite try propane for first test for convience to see if it will run.when in dought throw more fuel at it, these things are very thursty. and again nice work!
Hi Bob hope your doing ok I've been thro it with the wife or it's her that's been thro it & Ive been there thro it & it's hard on everyone but stay strong stay positive & busy as poss which u have down by the looks of things great job ! I just wanted to know if you built this from a plan or worked it out urself? I'm about to start making smaller than ur size version for an aircraft model. Any advice on designs welcome ! Ps how did it turn out further along ? Hope u r well Bob from Australia Kind regards Ian from England.
Sorry for the shaky vid, Chemo treatment has my fingers and toes numb, this project has kept me occupied through cancer treatment over 5 months...if your require help with reed valves ....JUST ASK!
Hopefully your cancer is cured. The nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) will go away as the nerves repair themselves. The worst case scenario is about 2 years because nerves regrow at 1 inch per month. I'm curious, how long to the reed valves last? I've heard people complain that they burn up quickly. Also, how do you know when it's time to replace them?
Oh just look at them and you'll know when you need to replace them also if they're not returning to their original place normally you need to replace them

Have you considered after burning? Do you think it actually adds to the thrust?
Amazing work!
if i may ask, how do you plan to atomize the fuel?
