3:15 for the galled up jackscrew. This is awesome to see the rare failure modes on cars like this.
Brilliant video
So I changed my breaks because the pads were wearing out, but once I changed them I get the messages that the brake system. I don’t know how to remove it 😢
Great video. Thanks for the upload.
I just got the same message at 94,300 miles on my 2018 Civic EX-T.
I always use the parking brake before releasing the regular brake when in Park.
The message cleared the next day and the parking brake works fine. If the message returns and the parking brake become inoperable again, I guess I’ll have it replaced.
Great video---Thank you!!!
Many thanks - all those little ball bearings looked nasty. I don't have an electronic brake (2013 Civic) but it was useful to see you work on yours.
where did you buy the new part?
Use a hammer instead of your hand to tap on the wrench to get your boats tighter it's easier on your hand and it works better just don't over tighten the bolt you will break it guaranteed
I am in disbelief that you disassembled the caliper because it wouldn’t turn back in. These aren’t designed to turn in, they push straight back (after being put in service mode or by retracting the parking brake motor). But turning the calipers on these civics can actually cause damage. Props to you though for willing to try this yourself, but I’m worried you may have replaced the caliper with the chance it may not have needed it
What’s the name of the part that needed to be replaced? I’m looking online and it’s pretty specific
Any idea what caused those bearings to break.
Rust and corrosion, seems to be plenty of it on that car
How much is for new one in USD ?
Misuse of the tool to insert the piston and this is how the caliper breaks.
What could be the cause? Im having the same issue. But the error is intermittent.
Did you find the cause ? I’m having it today ? Should i change the break ?
Have your ecu scanned. Its one of the sensors. Mine got fixed. Never appeared again.
IMHO this happens because people activate the parking brake every time before turning off the car.
That’s what I’ve been doing and now I have this warning on. It’s still driving but I’m worried. Going to the dealership in 3 days when I get my paycheck 😭
