Sometimes the thumbstick chambers need a wipe down as well for drifting issues. The little green boxes that sit on the north and west under the thumbsticks. You can pop the chambers open with a little oomph. BE CAREFUL with the little white discs inside. If you bend the contact wiring (which is incredibly easy to do by accident) you will more than likely need a new contact.
Thank you so much for this video...I fixed my sisters control. I was nervous but I went step by step from your vid and boom I got it done. She was so happy. Thanks again 😎👍
Thank you so much!!! I won a brand new, open box magma red DS4 on ebay for only $35 but the L2 button was engaging when I wasn't pushing it. I cleaned the contact with 91% isopropyl and it's flawless now :) Couldn't be happier
Brooooo tysm!!! I never ever even took a controller apart before...I 'very very carefully' followed exactly what you showed and it worked for me thanks alot you just saved me 70$
Happy to see that the PS4 controller disassembly/reassembly is similar to PS3 controller. Just ordered one of the last brand new ones as I'm finally getting into PS4, so hopefully it won't need repaired ever. That PS3 controller thumbstick is such a PITA- you can't even move those Alps thumbsticks from one board to another because they are all different, and need calibrated to the board controller..
Exactly the kind of video I was looking for. Currently swapping the superior OEM R1 & L1 switches into a cheapo wired DS4 I bought so I don't have to worry about faulty tiny USB ports ever again.
I had the same issue. My controller would connect over bluetooth to Ps4, PC, Android Mobile but within 30 seconds it would disconnect. I was clueless and pissed off for a week, later found a usefull tip online. Completely dismantled the controller, cleaned everything and put them back together. Mine works great now without any hiccups. I suggest all of you people facing this issue to give it a try.
Thanks for the tutorial. This was great. It helped me out alot. I did have trouble separating the case and broke the holders, but other than that everything else worked out fine.
Thanks a lot, I was able to restore my son's controller by cleaning it in every last space because of your tutorial 💝 In the beginning the Bluetooth connection wasn't maintaining but then I reset the controller and everything works like a charm - thank you agin, keep up the good work and greetings from Belgium 😁
This was so helpful. I haven't taken any electronics apart since I was 13 and it was one of those big 90s computers. My controller no longer activates the right trigger randomly and it's way more responsive.
Thanks!! This is the best tutorial I’ve come across very detailed which is what I needed because I’m going to do a custom paint job on a controller I’m buying and replacing the triangle square circle and x buttons as well to finish the look of the controller

Thanks! Super helpful, my sister gave me a controller they had for years and it still worked but it just had coffee spilled in it and sat for a few years now it works like brand new! Other than the charge port but it's only a minor issue
Hey 👋🏾 am from Jamaica, I just want tell you thanks for your help🤝 I been watching your contents and they all worked. My controller was fix today by your help. Thanks again brother . Keep up the good work
My red Spider-Man DS4 is on the fritz. Left analog input fluctuates wildly when I push up. Tried blowing it with air but the dirt has gone deep. Will try this tomorrow. 🤞🏼
useful step by step instructions, does fail to mention how useful having a pair of tiny pliers is though. literally my only gripe, still technically doable without.
Im gonna have to use this guide to take apart one controller to repair another. A controller i bought that was refurbished from Ebay back this Summer decided to stop trying to stay synced to my PS4. So now i got frustrated with it and Im gonna take it apart to repair my older one to replace the worn out parts on it since it works alot better with its charging and syncing capabilities. One part i gotta replace it my down d pad on my old one because its worn out badly and I need to replace the top buttons possibly too i think as well.
What about the center touch pad? Whatever, doesn't matter. it worked and I only had to break the cross bar to the front that secured the touch pad to the front face to re-assemble it. Thanks, It works great now
The scariest thing for me was thinking I had the right controller on deck only to realize the persons was a different version, aha. Thankfully, I found this! Fixed my controller and all Is well:) I gotta replace my headphone port at some point, though
Thanks I fix my stick drift I was confused how to take it out since no tolls for it. I find out there are dog hair inside it form older owner kinda scared to do any cleaning much
Nice video dude, appreciated 😁 Still have issue with the controller unfortunately. When move the left stick forward it starts & stops which is incredibly frustrating and when press the L2 trigger it constantly moves forward at the same time which makes aiming down sights a whole new experiance 😂 I'm a couple of storeys up ... sorely tempted to lauch them out the window to see if they can fly 😂
@@amysmith9861 I've actually caved and bought another official 🤢🤮 I did buy a 3rd party one in January but it is giving me drift problems already -- granted I play a lot but still, I'm not heavy handed and expect more from my kit, especially considering the price. I will give the YCC one a try.
Thanks for the video. I had to replace the conductive film since it had a scratch that made the ps button nonfunctional. Not sure how the scratch got there since this is the first time I opened the controller. The one year warranty is kinda lame since the defect was obviously caused during assembly and it's been 3 years. I live in Florida, so the heat and humidity probably made the scratch worse until it gave in. I did notice some pairing issues before but eventually it paired until yesterday. Out of curiosity I fired up my PS3 in storage an everything worked. They definitely don't make them like they used to.
Good video, but you left out one of the most essential parts, how to disassemble the plastic things around the analog sticks, most people tend to have more issues with analog sticks acting funny over buttons.
Hey my controller is completely fine and looks good on the exterior but it won’t turn on at all, i feel the battery cable isn’t connected to the MB I’m gonna use this video and let you know how it goes
So I was dissembling my controller and the black wire for my left rumbler snapped off with little force. Is it safe to power it on if the red wire is still intact?
Thank you. I tried cleaning it first and it didn’t work. I then tried to replace that battery and I ordered a new one! And it still didn’t work.. the ps4 remote does turn on and it works, but then when I get into the game I wanna play the buttons don’t wanna work..
Hi the white piece is really giving me a hard time. Can you pleeeaaase show how it should be inserted? Please 🙏🏻? Coffee spilled everywhere so took apart to clean it and now putting it back together. What a pain.
I did not see the small piece When you dissembled your controller. But for me A small piece came out looks like what I would describe as a small weird looking black chimney. I would take a picture but how would I send it through here.
I am having a trouble with mycontroller when i press the Square button suddenly it registers the R2 button aswell. For example in warzone when i collect loot it shoots aswell how can i fix it?
My R1 bumper is auto pressing itself can you help. I already opened it up and clean as you did especially the R1&R2 but it still pressing itself and i have no other options.
2:32 What is that transparent-opaque plastic part attached to the lower side of the controller, visible in this second to the left of the battery? It broke on my controller, but it does now seem to be important at all. What does it do?
on my dualshock 4 the movement button moves slowly and rotates. It seems like the button needs to be lubricated. How can I fix this so that I can move it smoothly.
