I don’t think people would actually love it if it truly happened. I think the perfection of how he ended is why that stamp is there and that a return would take it away. I think once people lost that perfect ending they’d start to flip their opinion but because they’re confident it probably won’t happen they’re free to want it now.

Yeah I get that because as a kid who grew up on the Tobey Spider-Man I went nuts when it happened. The difference I think is that their return for this role didn’t endanger a perfect ending like that of iron man. Their exit from their roles wasn’t with the perfect character arch and ending like the role of iron man had so it was just plain exciting with nothing to lose. I don’t think doing it for iron man would actually be received that way once fans actually had it. I think the allure of it knowing you probably won’t get it is what drives the desire more than the reality of it truly occurring.
He portrays iron man so well that he has a necklace on that is huge and most people see it as something that's always going to be a part of him.... no one else could have pulled off the "I am iron man" scene that he improvised on set to make.
In the comics the Stark A.I. has been the Iron Man "replacement" since Captain Marvel killed the real Tony Stark. Now his brother is taking up the mantle of Iron Man as the Stark A.I. comes to grips with the entire world realizing he's just a life model decoy. There's room in the MCU for another Iron Man... it just needs time. Us comic readers have seen Doctor Doom take up the Iron Man mantle, and we're still alive. I love the comics AND the MCU. It's just a different way of telling a different version of a similar story... in a different medium. Both are great!

I think people forget these characters have different incarnations, different writers portray different aspects of their personalities within the comics just like different actors are capable of highlighting those things in their own ways on film. Is it time for a new Iron Man in the MCU? If you ask me, no - not until Doctor Doom is introduced and we have a setup for an arc where he seems to be a villain, redeems himself, and is seen as the anti-hero he is currently. Doctor Doom as a temporary Iron Man - just one or two films before he decides it's not for him because he can't focus on Latveria AND the Avengers.

The problem is, Tony Stark's death was the most meaningful death they could have given any character in the MCU. Graceful and all powerful. They can't give him a more meaningful death if he were to come back, and we should be grateful for the one we got. Maybe a quick cameo via time travel, maybe some prequel or flashback action, but don't revive him. Please. They got it right.

With Dr. Strange's Multiverse of Madness coming up, anything is possible. The entire time travel thing was messed up in No way home and portals from different timelines of Multiverses were opened. So, it may happen that either Ultron or Thanos may manage to return using the same (I know, Ultron was completely killed & Thanos was wiped out, but Marvel will always figure out a way to bring them back if they have to) and so does Iron Man. But RDJ should be willing to take up the mantle and be the Iron Man. And as his answer itself answers, if it's that super compelling, why wouldn't he? I also want to see a series of MCU vs DCU movie before I die. I wanna see the Hulk fight Doomsday. Iron man fight Batman. Superman fight Thor and then they lastly unite, it'll be all the bad guys vs the good guys. I know, the movie of such a proportion would be the costliest movie to be ever made, but I really wanna see it happen.
It really would be so cool to see the MCU do a movie with all of the DC characters in it. It wouldn’t even need to be canon to the MCU, because that way they could bring back dead characters and stuff without having to try to make it connect to all of the other MCU movies. I just want it to be mostly made by Marvel, because I think they would do a much better job with the DC characters than what DC has been doing. I’m rewatching all the Marvel films on Disney+...I watched all of them in the theaters years ago and I rewatching them has helped me realize how much I appreciated RDJ. He made superhero’s cool!
It would stupid if they did the whole reverse time thing to bring him back as that would undo the sacrifice, they should take a multiverse angle approach to it. If Stark from a separate timeline where Thanos wins and he lost Pepper to the gauntlet snap came over and Pepper and Morgan were reunited then that could work as long as it's a few Avengers films down the line and they don't push the dead Stark under the rug and pretend like his grave doesn't exist. RDJ's portrayal of Ironman is the best progression of a character in movie history. Over a 10 year period we got to see him go from a self centered, selfish asshole to someone willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and lay down his life for others. It was amazing to watch and I really hope they don't cheapen it by bringing the character back just for the sake of box office draw.

Honestly the only reason I'm sad he's no longer alive as Iron man is that I was excited to see Tony and Peter's relationship develop. I would have loved to see at least one movie take the time to focus more on their relationship before Tony died. Doesn't help that I loved their dynamic and Tony is literally my favorite character.

I think I saw some actor in these marvel movies talk about how contractually they have to make appearances in any of the marvel movies if they want you to. I could be totally wrong on that, but it might be something like that.
Cameos are a bit different, though. Not only are they far easier to record ahead of time, having a cameo isn't the same as going back to the role. You can still move on and do the equivalent of a "favor" once in a while.
Doctor Strange 2 introduces the multiverse, i'd love it if they went to alternate universe where Thor snapped and didnt die so Tony stayed alive and retired to his farmhouse and cared for his family

Robert Downey was one of the 1st actors to bring back my interest in Marvel films. When I 1st saw Iron Man it was so amazing; his Bravura while playing the role, his quick-wittedness, his ability to command authority and his eloquence when speaking. This all made me Love the character of Iron Man and respect the actor himself.

In the comics the Stark A.I. has been the Iron Man "replacement" since Captain Marvel killed the real Tony Stark. Now his brother is taking up the mantle of Iron Man as the Stark A.I. comes to grips with the entire world realizing he's just a life model decoy. There's room in the MCU for another Iron Man... it just needs time. Us comic readers have seen Doctor Doom take up the Iron Man mantle, and we're still alive. I love the comics AND the MCU. It's just a different way of telling a different version of a similar story... in a different medium. Both are great!

I think people forget these characters have different incarnations, different writers portray different aspects of their personalities within the comics just like different actors are capable of highlighting those things in their own ways on film. Is it time for a new Iron Man in the MCU? If you ask me, no - not until Doctor Doom is introduced and we have a setup for an arc where he seems to be a villain, redeems himself, and is seen as the anti-hero he is currently. Doctor Doom as a temporary Iron Man - just one or two films before he decides it's not for him because he can't focus on Latveria AND the Avengers.

The problem is, Tony Stark's death was the most meaningful death they could have given any character in the MCU. Graceful and all powerful. They can't give him a more meaningful death if he were to come back, and we should be grateful for the one we got. Maybe a quick cameo via time travel, maybe some prequel or flashback action, but don't revive him. Please. They got it right.
I would have no problem watching standalone Iron Man 4 movie that takes place before Avengers though :P

With Dr. Strange's Multiverse of Madness coming up, anything is possible. The entire time travel thing was messed up in No way home and portals from different timelines of Multiverses were opened. So, it may happen that either Ultron or Thanos may manage to return using the same (I know, Ultron was completely killed & Thanos was wiped out, but Marvel will always figure out a way to bring them back if they have to) and so does Iron Man. But RDJ should be willing to take up the mantle and be the Iron Man. And as his answer itself answers, if it's that super compelling, why wouldn't he?
I also want to see a series of MCU vs DCU movie before I die. I wanna see the Hulk fight Doomsday. Iron man fight Batman. Superman fight Thor and then they lastly unite, it'll be all the bad guys vs the good guys. I know, the movie of such a proportion would be the costliest movie to be ever made, but I really wanna see it happen.
It really would be so cool to see the MCU do a movie with all of the DC characters in it. It wouldn’t even need to be canon to the MCU, because that way they could bring back dead characters and stuff without having to try to make it connect to all of the other MCU movies. I just want it to be mostly made by Marvel, because I think they would do a much better job with the DC characters than what DC has been doing. It would be really cool to see Marvel’s versions of Superman, Batman, etc.

I’m rewatching all the Marvel films on Disney+...I watched all of them in the theaters years ago and I rewatching them has helped me realize how much I appreciated RDJ. He made superhero’s cool!
It would stupid if they did the whole reverse time thing to bring him back as that would undo the sacrifice, they should take a multiverse angle approach to it.
If Stark from a separate timeline where Thanos wins and he lost Pepper to the gauntlet snap came over and Pepper and Morgan were reunited then that could work as long as it's a few Avengers films down the line and they don't push the dead Stark under the rug and pretend like his grave doesn't exist. They did the same thing in Doctor Who a some years back with Billie Piper's character and her mum & dad.

RDJ's portrayal of Ironman is the best progression of a character in movie history. Over a 10 year period we got to see him go from a self centered, selfish asshole to someone willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and lay down his life for others. It was amazing to watch and I really hope they don't cheapen it by bringing the character back just for the sake of box office draw.

For a return to be possible, He would have to eventually retire again. The next time he DOES retire again might not be as poetic and beautiful as the one afforded to him in End Game.

RDJ can return as tony in flash backs or voice him in the new What If series but anything after iron mans death RDJ should not return unless he is playing a completely new take from said multi verse. They died to some extent but came back with those deaths have changed how or who they were. to be fair not a lot people liked who they where before so it was accetped

Honestly the only reason I'm sad he's no longer alive as Iron man is that I was excited to see Tony and Peter's relationship develop. I would have loved to see at least one movie take the time to focus more on their relationship before Tony died. Doesn't help that I loved their dynamic and Tony is literally my favorite character.

Cameos are a bit different, though. Not only are they far easier to record ahead of time, having a cameo isn't the same as going back to the role. You can still move on and do the equivalent of a "favor" once in a while.
Doctor Strange 2 introduces the multiverse, i'd love it if they went to alternate universe where Thor snapped and didnt die so Tony stayed alive and retired to his farmhouse and cared for his family

Robert Downey was one of the 1st actors to bring back my interest in Marvel films. When I 1st saw Iron Man it was so amazing; his Bravura while playing the role, his quick-wittedness, his ability to command authority and his eloquence when speaking. This all made me Love the character of Iron Man and respect the actor himself.
