Sum 41 in to deep is great song and video
Yeah love that song to, definitely show off their talent in that song :)
Yes, the video is hilarious! I hope he features that one.
In Too Deep, favourite Sum 41 song XD
I’m a simple man, I see a comment on 68 likes, I click like
Ah, yes, the rebellious teenager music that young not-rebellious-at-all teen me knew all the lyrics to 😂 It was 2001, which let's be honest, was still the late 90s in music 😂
Same
When it comes to media and fashion, the decades might as well go 1983-92, 1993-2002 etc. And yeah I remember being that kid lol
@@seanthompson1197 I've always said that music decades seem to be from mid-decade to mid-decade, like '95 to '05, etc. I'm not sure why there's that phase shift like that, but at least now I know I'm not the only one who noticed :)
Also, since you mentioned fashion... goddamn, can we please bring back 90s female fashion? It was sexy as hell. We can leave the 90s male fashion in the past, though... no one needs to see backwards caps and sagging jeans, thanks.
@@IceMetalPunk Agreed my friend. Though I am pretty happy with current fashions as far as yoga pants go.
to be honest, when i say 90s music, its typically 98-2005 when i actually look at release dates
Always refer to this type of music as the “American Pie” music and always will do!
Lmao.....💯%
That is the best thing I’ve heard all day I’m dying 🤣! Such a perfect name for this genre! ❤️it!
Well... Canadian pie anyway eh?
So true! Always though the same
@@katerussell6139 American Pie is actually a teen comedy series ^^ Sum 41's music was in a few movies.
I refuse to get too old to not jam on this! 🤣

Killer late 90's early 00's punk rock. Green Day, Blink-182, Offspring, Rancid, Sleater-Kinney, 311 and lots of other smaller bands were pumping out some serious music with attitude during this time! This came out in 2001. Try "In Too Deep" next. These guys were just crazy fun and entertaining. THanks!
Peace from SF
I would add the band "LIT" to the list.
Not punk rock, that was pop punk
NOFX
Sum 41, Three days Grace, Billy Talent 3 Canadian early 2000s new punk bands and maybe the 3 best
still waiting by Sum 41 is killer!
He has to watch Last Nite by The Strokes first
Now you gotta do “In Too Deep”!
in too deep one of the best songs ever made
I second this notion
Yes
Could not agree more, is awesome song :)
Hell song
This video was apparently filmed with real fans and was totally off the cuff with the rap being done at the beginning out of the blue without the shop owners expecting it. Also the lead singer was married to Avril Lavigne.
I haven’t seen the video before, but I’m getting strong Warner’s Tour vibes and guessing it was filmed there.
Warped Tour, damnit, not Warner’s.
We laugh when old people fall...still kills me every time 🤣! Love me a little Sum 41! Thanks for this one! Great reaction! Much ❤️
I was a young adult when this came out - we loooooved this band. They really spoke for us - we come from a weird generation 😉🤘
Yo, you have to add the second part to this called Pain for Pleasure! In the original video that played all over the music video stations this song played and then a short, but pretty damn good, parody song that sounded like 80's metal with a catchy galloping riff and showed these guys could pull it off. The guys even dressed like Judas Priest/Maiden did in the 80'sso its good for a laugh. They go together as a pair so not sure why this one didn't have it.
Edit: actually the video part doesn't seem to be on YT but the audio is there.
Yes!
Sum 41 and there label need upload the video the way they had it back in day..
It is on youtube but it is crappy quality and you have to hunt for it.
Gutted this wasn't on the end 😭
I was waiting for that end part, it was the best bit. Gutted.
Still Waiting is a MUST
You need some Barenaked Ladies too Jane, The Old Apartment, If I had a Million Dollars, One Week. I could go on... so much Canadian talent
I think you mean One Week and you can't forget Pinch me, it was a great song too!
@@Keith2XS OMG Yasss! I had a total brain block when I was typing. I should know better because I dated Ed briefly back in the day
check out “the hell song.” memorable video, real depressing/catchy song.
This takes me right back to those awkward tween years. Braces and a unibrow. Yikes! lol
LMFAO!!
Hehehe!
euew
@@astroboirap Hey! The braces came off and I discovered waxing. I can't help my Italian heritage. lol
@@jpeopolis find a man that doesnt judge you for a unibrow
This song is on my Snowboard (when i was younger also on my Skateboard 😆) - Playlist for almost 20 years now!
"Motivation" is a fun video. "Pieces" is a beautiful song.
This takes me back to being 16 rolling around in my first car, bumping lol
In Too Deep. Another song my Sum 41
Great choice! Checkout their song 'In too deep' it's a good song and funny video!
I love every faze Sum 41 has gone through over the years. When I was a teenager they made this type of music, and as I’ve grown up they have changed their music to a more mature sound. You should really check out their song “Never there” which is a more recent song. The lyrics and the video is really beautiful.
You also really have to check out The Tea Party! Jeff Martin will blow your mind on his talent as well, and also Canadian. So Proud of our Artists and to hear you checking them out, glad to hand you a good handful of them to show off here!!
I really hope he does. I have several Tea Party albums and they're amazing. So many different styles and so much talent.
I like to call this era of the poppunk subgenre of music “Braces and a Skateboard,” because goddammit that’s how we ran back in the day. Awkward as hell, but we had fun.
Ahh, the American Pie song.
Sum 41 🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️ "Still waiting" super good too 👌 ❤️
I love sum 41 great song by a great Canadian band
people dont mention billy talent and three days grace enough all 3 those bands are from ontario
I saw them play a couple times, both at relatively small places. The first was at The Troubadour in Hollywood, which can only hold 500 people and anyone on the ground level is probably no more than 30 feet from the stage. They were such a fun live act.
Sum 41, Blink-182 and Avril Lavigne, those were the days :)
You should see what Derek looks like today. The years have not been kind to him but he has not been kind to himself either.
Considering he went from almost dying, to now he has a son I think he is doing alright though.
You’re not kidding. It’s jarring.
last i saw of him, he lost the weight and was more or less back to the weight of Sum's peak years? I thought he's been sober for awhile now
@@lavenderllamamusic he is. If you google an article about him having his son last year he looks much healthier. The point right after he was in the hospital in 2014 he was a mess though
Check out Barenaked Ladies songs: Lovers in a dangerous time
One week
Pinch me
Brian Wilson
The old apartment
Yes to the ladies. :)
So many great Ladies songs! Maybe he should begin with the one that started it all, "Be My Yoko Ono". (Bonus points if he can find the original video where they all crowded into a Speaker's Corner video booth in Toronto and it was played on MuchMusic.)
It's may be an unconventional choice but I've always loved Enid.
Don't forget "It's All Been Done" from them awell
I'm always amazed at how genius manifests itself in the most unexpected places. The arrangement of this song, the perfect, balanced set of voices, the amazing rhythm section, the way it comes together, the driving vocal cadence--it's not just another run-of-the-mill post-punk, wannabe-pop band--there's something more going on here, and it makes me sad how true art, genius, and honest discovery in music has been replaced by shit like America's Got Talent.
Great reaction. I’ll never fall in line!!😀👍❤️✌️🌼
God the early 2000’s we’re such a great time to be a kid
I do give thanks for being born in ‘97 even though I feel like I should’ve been born earlier because I remember hearing this in like ‘04 a couple years after it came out and ever since I’ve loved this type of music yo 😂😂my brothers were ‘91 and ‘93 so they played this all the time and I always thought it was rad sounding and to this day this type of Music is my shit along with classic and hard rock!
Sum 41 was formed in 1996 but their first album including this song came out in 2001
Actually this song was out in 2002
Their discography says otherwise
@@mikaelpeltonen96 I understand but that is incorrect. If you research, it says 2002
@@JulianDuke14 Ok, I won't dispute if you have better knowledge about the subject
@@mikaelpeltonen96 oh no dude, your actually right I looked it up again and it said 2001. Your right, my bad.
Check out (Mandrill) "Can You Get It (Suzie Caesar 1977)..They were a funk band from Brooklyn, New York..This song when played in the clubs, got everybody on the dance floor..Even if you hadn't dance all night..You got up on this song!!!..LOL
I always forget about the rap in the convenience store 😂
These guys have a LOT of bops. Super talented small town Canadian boys. They were huge when I was in grade 7/8ish
Anyway do "we're all to blame" and "still waiting"
What's cool is the music video was made in two days with zero plans, they just invited a bunch of people to be in the video and partied. Everyone just fucked around and they recorded it. They are also a Canadian band 😊
Sum 41 have so many good songs like THE HELL SONG, STILL WAITING, IN TOO DEEP and so on 👍😄
Used to love them back in the day.... even after Deryck, Steve and a few of their friends (which included an at that time still unknown Avril Lavigne and her bandmates) wanted to fight my friends & I after we asked them to sign some autographs. Gotta check out - In too Deep - Still Waiting by them.
Awwwwhhhhh good memories. I heard this on my radio the other day with my kiddos in the car..... i still knew most of the words. Im all over the place musically...my husband just shook his head n 8 yr old started car dancing with me 😂
Still Waiting and In Too Deep are HITS.
Yes!
Local Boys from Ajax! Gotta love Canadian talent! Try In too Deep!
This is my favourite song by them, the lead singer Derek ended up marrying Avril Lavigne.
Now you need some Blink 182 like First Date...the video is hilarious and there are also a fantastic band. This was known as "skater" music. I for one LOVED it & still do!! 😁🖤🤘
If you like this song you should react to First Date by Blink-182
React to Sum 41 - Still Waiting
I seen you on a weetus buddy holly reaction video and luv how you get in to punk and rock music cz you listen to all the bands I used to listen to in my teens also I'm 40 lol luv your vids bro
Yoo you should check out any songs from their albums "All Killer,, No Filler" or "Does This Look Infected". They even made a tour documentary movie that came with that second album. They're such a wild band, but that's what made them such a nice contrast to like new found glory and other punk bands popular at that time.
I heard this song in American Pie 2 movie and that was it for me, I had to add it to our playlist! You can tell these guys had tons of fun making this video! They also have another song called "In too Deep" which also made it in to the American Pie 2 movie which is a bit of a mellower tune compared to this song you reacted to and we can all catch up with it, I think you may like it too! Peace! ✌☮
I can't tell you how I excited I was for you to get to that abortion line. That's why I clicked.
Side note: The guitarist grew up near where we lived and his parents' phone number leaked on the internet back then. We kept calling and finally talked to his mom and it was the greatest thing ever. Then we ran into the bass player at Best Buy. Growing up in Canada was such a trip.
Some great songs from the 80s : 'Back in black' by AC/DC, 'Coming on strong' by Broken English, 'Through the barricades' by Spandau Ballet
I’m 55 and love seeing your reactions to new (to you) music. If you really want a treat, react to One OK Rock “Mighty long Fall” live at Yokohama Stadium. You won’t be sorry - these guys are fantastic.
This band I used to listen to back in high an well I’m 29 now but i still listen to them here an there
Great song, definitely need to check out there other songs like, Still Waiting, Hell Song & In too Deep (the video is a homage to Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School, which was also the film debut for Robert Downey Jr!) Oh, oh and We're All to Blame AND Pieces!
Now your getting into 'emo' bands late 90's to early 2000's that's a whole new category you haven't explored yet! Ton of great emo bands out there, great reaction on this one!
I bought this CD back then just because of this song ☺
This is such a great reaction. I loved this song when it came out, and it really stuck with me in some ways, but it's one I haven't listened to that much since it blew up 20 years ago. Recently re-discovering how good this song is.
Storming through the party like my name was El Nino
When I'm hanging out drinking in the back of an El Camino
As a kid, was a skid, and no one knew me by name
I trashed my own house party 'cause nobody came
I know I'm not the one you thought you knew back in high school
Never going, never showing up when we had to
Attention that we crave, don't tell us to behave
I'm sick of always hearing act your age
I don't wanna waste my time
Become another casualty of society
I'll never fall in line
Become another victim of your conformity
And back down
Because you don't
Know us at all, we laugh when old people fall
But what would you expect with a conscience so small?
Heavy Metal and mullets it's how we were raised
Maiden and Priest were the gods that we praised
'Cause we like having fun at other people's expense
And cutting people is just a minor offence then
It's none of your concern, I guess I'll never learn
I'm sick of being told to wait my turn
I don't wanna waste my time
Become another casualty of society
I'll never fall in line
Become another victim of your conformity
And back down
Don't count on me to let you know when
Don't count on me, I'll do it again
Don't count on me, it's the point you're missing
Don't count on me 'cause I'm not listening
Well I'm a no goodnick lower middle class brat
Back packed and I don't give a shit about nothing
You be standing on the corner talking all that kufuffin
But you don't make sense from all the gas you be huffin
'Cause if the egg don't stain you'll be ringing off the hook
You're on the hit list, wanted in the telephone book
I like songs with distortion, to drink in proportion
The dentist said my mom should've had an abortion
I don't wanna waste my time
Become another casualty of society
I'll never fall in line
Become another victim of your conformity
And back down
Waste my time with them
Casualty of society
Waste my time again
Victim of your conformity
And back down
Hullo! I really love hearing your perspective on UK music in particular and I was delighted you found Musical Youth. Now I would like to suggest some American gems to listen to, and they are:
- Beck with Loser (or any other Beck song)
- De La Soul with Me Myself and I
Thank you!!
I loved this song with all my windows down and speeding to work at FYE, the music store. 😂
Have you reacted the the covers from the a cappella group Pentatonix? They do any amazing version of Hallelujah, a Daft Punk medley, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Their Amazing Grace made such an impact on me.
This song gets my hyped EVERY time
your energy level before & after listening to this really speaks volumes. add this to your work-out playlist!
Hell yeah! If you were in middle school like I was this song was everything hahaha.
And Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle" which I think came out around the same time. Bleed American was 2001, right? Anyways, nice to see what life was like back in the days before social media reared its ugly head. And I realize the hypocrisy/idiocy of that statement since I'm posting this on a social media platform. lol
Brings me back around tony hawks pro skater time
When i started listening to songs like that
Wow I was just listening to them. *With Me* Dude I love these punk tunes you doin.
Yeh, released in 2001 I think, I was just turning 21 then, full out rebellion years. This was an anthem of my time. Well at its applicable to every person of that age I guess.
they do have a rap/rock song called "What Were All About"
The title reminded me of another great track you should check out - "What Up Fatlip" by Fatlip.
That song always gets stuck in my head 😅
Dying for you to check out the Black Lips, Ty Segall, The Ramones, and The Damned.
Always loved this song
Loved Sum 41 and Linkin Park a lot of rap/hip hop vibe to them
I remember first hearing this song playing a motocross game when I was like 12
YESSSS sum 41. good choice with Fat Lip. Deryck Whibley's story of overcoming addiction and learning to be himself is inspirational.
If you got some Canadian rock bands on here which Sum 41 is Canadian....check out Three Days Grace...I Hate everything about you...for the first tune...they have an awesome discography as well!
That's not the actual ending to this video.... It ends with a quick song called Pain for Pleasure. And it's Super badass.
It's the first time hearing it for me too. Its sound brilliant.
Awesome song, awesome reaction vid!
These guys were awesome live!!
Still are! I saw em 3 times in the last 3 or 4 years and by far my favorite shows!
Yo should hear Down by 311, another good mix of styles.
Or Omaha Stylee, Transistor, Flowing, etc. Their older music is so much better than the more recent stuff they put out.
Hopefully going see them in concert this year!! August baby, let's hope the rona don't mess it up 🤘🤞
Wow I never heard let's go!
Yes yes and yes again ! Keep going !
Sum 41 Are awesome! their last 2 albums are great too.
You want a fantastic song that changes styles and has a fantastic message that still applies today, NOFX - The Decline.... it's an 18 min song...and totally worth the listen.
Love the videos
I found this CD in a beer case one time when i was a kid returning empties for money.
These were fun times. For me the last unique music based youth culture after grunge.
I believe this song was to bring the different genres of music closer.meant to show rap or rock mixed together or not it’s all great music. And you don’t have to stick to just one of them
Free sprit!! "In Too Deep" is a must!!! 😃
Now you got to do "With me" pleaseeeeee, im beggin you, no one in youtube has reacted to that song, i'm sure you'll love it :D
STILL WAITING by SUM41 is another absolute banger from them. very popular back in the day as well
“Pieces” is beautiful. Please give it a listen!
Also there's a British singer (who isn't well known here) you could react to for a change from what everyone else is reacting to currently. Paloma Faith songs: Upside Down, Picking Up the Pieces, Loyal, Can't Rely on You, Only Love Can Hurt Like This, RESPECT (Aretha Franklin tribute) Never Tear us Apart (INXS cover)
Check out “In Too Deep” from them. Another amazing track from them.
How about 'Walking on The Moon' or 'Everything she does is magic' by The Police, a UK band & fantastic too!!
Such a great band, loved this track when it came out. Lead singer was married to Avril Levine
Don't know if anyone in comments mentioned that they really made this hugeass suburbian block party and filmed it for 2 days just to make this clip. There are of course some staged parts but a lot of footage was just taken when people was having fun and do random stuff. They're extremly exhausted at the end of second day but still rockin the hell out of this song. Awesome.
Yo PLEASE listen to a song called ‘ Get Away ‘ by a band called Ocean Colour Scene, they are a British band from the 90s, they are very very very very good and extremely underrated.
Fun reaction as always.
I would also really love to see a BABYMETAL reaction here, prefably Road to Resistance - Live in Japan :)
