I have this drone. It’s simple and very small. Battery life is short so buy 3 batteries. It’s not clever enough not to hit things. The pictures and video not being 5K super duper but enough for many people indeed. I used it across Easter Europe on a bike adventure off road and it survived. Cheap enough to accept its loss if it ends up in a tree. It it won’t fly so far or so high you couldn’t recover it from Most gotcha’s. I am very happy with it in auto modes and manual it’s OK. The company I fed back to agree they will smooth the manual moves more like maybe tripod mode on a DJI in an update. Memory is small 32GB and 8 is used in system memory. There is not a removable SDCard. I still like it. It’s with me a lot which is the key to mini shoots having the thing with you. PS - my 5 yr old nephew has managed to make a video ( with supervision of course ) using the pre select buttons to do the shoots.
"It’s with me a lot which is the key.." Exactly! I only recently got mine, went out for some fun, when I got home I took it out of my daily bag... and then put it back in again. It's so small and light, why not? Even with 2 spare batteries it weighs less than my phone.
@@justbarb88 you do have to check the EU rules on drone use and for each country. Different weight drones have different rules. I only use this when I am not near any people. Or people near me are happy for me to fly. It isn’t fast and it isn’t heavy it doesn’t fly more than 15m ( I think ) but you could still hit someone.
Great review. Had mine a month or so, and already made a film of a cycling trip for my channel. The resolution was fine for me I think, and it's ideal for filming on my solo trips. Found dolly track works well on the bike. Managed to get to 18 mph with it still flying in front. It's just so easy to carry if your running, hiking or biking. Keep up the good work.
Hi Simon, First of all I must say, “what an awesome intro” I would have to agree with one of the previous comments. Best intro on RUclips for 2023! You summed up everything I needed to know about the HoverAir X1. Unfortunately, they’re not available for sale in Australia yet, but I’m even more super excited when they will be after watching your video,
It's not just the lack of controller, it's the lack of waiting for GPS lock and a homepoint, the lack of forever updating firmware, or with my Mavic Air forever having to recalibrate the compass before you can even think about talking off. By the time my Mavic has found a proper GPS signal I can get the shot, put this thing back in my pocket and continue my hike or whatever. I totally wasted my money on the Mavic because I never use it. It's too bulky, too heavy and takes too long. My last hiking holiday in Europe I left it at home, so what was the point? This thing I can take pretty much anywhere, as long as I can keep it dry.
The film quality is not good enough! I think I will wait until the X2 (if it ever does) come out, and see if camera is better. Other than that it looks useful for some people, where film quality is not an issue!
Great video Simon, loved it, ive seen various videos of the X1 now, your the first one ive seen that shows front dolly tracking, I didn’t know it did this. I think at £400 its a bit pricy, especially since it doesn’t shoot 4K/24 or 4K/30. A set of ND filters would be nice too. Perhaps if these sell well we might get an X2 next year. ATB Darren
@@SiHorrocks good one Simon. here is a short science fiction film I shot on the hover air x1 ruclips.net/video/vjUi60mnxHs/видео.htmlsi=ZLtyz0um1sO4bdmB
We live in the future! Great review Simon. Hey how did the X1 fare indoors? I have a client wanting to film installations at custoner homes. The X1 may be a great fit and safe too. May save using a tripod plus provide interesting footage
haven't tested it too much indoors. One time I tried it and because I'd set it to high altitude it hit the ceiling, but then just calmly landed itself unscathed
While this thing looks like a lot of fun and would be a great B-Roll addition for solo creators I'm stuck on the price point. Seems a little high for what you get and it's limited use. Drop it down to about half the price and I might be more interested
hi Derek. Thank you! You can edit the footage in any software, it's regular h.264. On a side point I noticed files are Rec.601 and not Rec.709, so they might need a slight color tweak

So it is ok to use this in Europe as a tourist? Because I wanted to take this to my trip there soon. Please let me know,it would be helpful. Thanks!

Any advice on how to get it to start flying? I just set it up and I’m struggling with getting it up
Looks good but I got the dji neo for £169 good bit kit only let down is the flight time 🎉🎉
nail on the head future of B roll ... great review thankyou

These are so slick. A mini drone without the faff of controllers.

excellent tutorial, super helpful, thank you!
great video, Simon. Shot in Germany, I instantly thought 🙂- thanks a lot, I learned from it as a non-tech hoverair fan

Love this, everything about it features and all, gonna get ProMax model by next month or 2 The first of day of release firsssure 🤘👍🤙🤟✨
Smoothest way to plug a patreon in a long time, props! 🙏 👏
I try 🤩
Hi thanks for the video.😁👍🏻 👍🏻
have a question, did you have to clean the footage up in an editing app…?TIA😁🤗
no that's how it looked straight out of the camera

"dji, eat my dust!!!" 😂
Another excellent video Simon!
Many thanks!
Fantastic review one of the best.
thank you!
Great little drone, I wish they would give us the option to "unsharpen" the image. Rest is just great
Buena cabecera!!
Can the height above ground be changed in dolly mode so someone getting between you and drone cannot get hit?
and you can long press mode button to change mode settings!
Im looking to use this with my Pixel Pro 7 .... can you recommend a good but cheap microphone for recording (rather than using my phones microphone)
Nice review
Hi Simon, neat little gizmo, loved your intro! Q. can footage be edited in premiere pro? Price in Canada is $671.00 +13% tax which is pricey.
hi Derek. Thank you! You can edit the footage in any software, it's regular h.264. On a side point I noticed files are Rec.601 and not Rec.709, so they might need a slight color tweak
How do you get it in Canada? I thought my only option was a mail box service in the US.
Just purchased one ⚛️
most liked thing is location.. scenery ..
Nice
❤❤❤
I didn't see your Operator ID on the drone.
Surely, as it doesn't have obstacle avoidance the only legal mode for it would be using a phone.
How many circles does the drone make in orbit mode?
1
Or 3, you choose in the settings
Perfect device for a narcist xd
The majority of the footage comes not from the drone...
n the uk they will fall under the rules for sub 250 gram drones lol rid anybody
You can use it to hover behind you so you can see to tie that dbag man bun!
