  • This is part two of this 2007 Nash Travel Trailer roof replacement series. Today I find out that 21 feet is just a guideline and not necessarily official. So I have to roll the almost 21 foot membrane back up and get a 25 foot membrane. Otherwise, with the help of Cass, thenew PVC membrane is glued down and sides secured.

Love your videos, just drove a 1998 coachmen mirada 28 from Florida to Quebec Canada, did the cheap and dirty liquid rubber on the roof, it's never leaving my place, this is where it's going to stay for ever, I work in the aircraft maintenance industry, we got REALLY good sealant that I plan on using around all windows and joints. If it works on planes it will work on a RV😂😂😂

Good evening Mr. Expert (Is "James" OK?) - What a terrific video! I love seeing episodes involving top shelf RVs like a Prevost or Patriot Thunder, but THIS project about a Budget Friendly repair is fascinating! It is very cool that the owner, with your help, is keeping this trailer going. I admire the owner of this rig for being in the game with a rig that will keep them warm and dry in their travels.

Just a comment about Tiffin. I live in Hamilton, Alabama, about 25 miles from Red Bay where Tiffin is located. Hamilton Plastics, which was started by two local guys manufactured fiberglass showers and tubs, and they also manufactured the fiberglass front and rear caps and other assorted pieces for Tiffin. Trucks ran back and forth everyday hauling these components from Hamilton to Red Bay. The quality of these components was very high, they were thick, and there was much problem solving collaboration between the two companies. Then Hamilton Plastics was sold to a larger group, and Tiffin moved the fiberglass production in house, and the former Hamilton Plastics folks helped them set up there production line. When I hear you talk about the Tiffin quality-- I think about how a lot of regular country folks local to this area are a part of that quality. This is a very rural part of the country-- but a lot of good hard working folks who actually care about the quality of the work they did build these units.. Also-- I think Mr. Bob Tiffin really cared deeply about his employees, and his customers, and the results show that. With their recent acquisition by Thor-- I just hope this will continue-- but big corporations are not the same as local private ownership.....

Quick question… I parked my 20 year old Winnebago under a tree for 2 months and now the roof is covered with black stains that the regular rv wash and wax doesn’t work on unless I brush the same area for 10 minutes straight… any trick that you would know to make it white-ish again?

Fantastic work especially on a budget, which 99% of us are.
James since you do more RV roofs, then I seen on RUclips, which RV manufacturer has a better maintenance, free roof, structure, and material, wise, newer or older, model, class C or class A?
Is fiberglass a better option compared to PVC and what do you think about the other spray on options that are out there now ?
If you have a little bit more money in the budget what would you do for the longest lasting roof repair material that you could do?
I know thickness of material is usually a better quality as well, so what is the brand or thickness that you would recommend for a longer lasting better than factory repair (Along with material that can be used roof structure, dependent )
thank you so much for your professional work and opinion, and sharing your work

I have questions I live in georgia my dad has a construction company and roofing company so I grew up doing roofing and construction I'm a mechanic I watched your previous video my question is I have a 95 sportsmen my dad bought it new always been stored indoors but the roof is finally shot I bought it from him we are going to do the roof ourselves my biggest question is what material would you recommend? He can get TPO from the supplier he uses it has the rubber on it now it lasted almost 30 years but I plan on keeping it a long time because the thing is like new he's been very meticulous about it it's whole life and I see no need in going to spend 50k which material and I completely see your logic on lapping over the front and back I think you are 100% right about that it makes sense having been around construction who cares if it has a belly if the metal lifts as you said it will pool until it runs OVER the metal I thank you for that because I probably would have put it back how it was not knowing any better

James our 2003 Newmar Dutch Star 3804 DP had a TPO roof. We bought it in 2016 and it had spent it's fist 14 years in the sun, I'm pretty sure with no UV added protection. When I replaced the roof in the winter of 2019-2020 the roof was perfect. I replaced it and 8 1/2 sheets of plywood only because of a leak at both acs where the bolts hold the acs down(outside of the gasket) cause a 1'x2' delamination and damage 3 sheets of plywood. Are you sure I need to add UV protection? What's the best way of doing that? Thanks James

Thanks for the excellent video. I replaced a roof on my old 24' trailer with PVC. The local RV repair place wanted $4500. The trailer was barely worth that amount. I did it my self for about $1400. It was not a easy job but worth it to save an old 1991 trailer. - What is the plastic tool you are using to install the PVC insert on the trim?
