I am HOPING that they will soon have a X-Max 4!!! FYI, X-Plus 4 can now be used as a filament dry box. They just added that feature with the latest firmware update! OMG. :)
Me too, looking forward to seeing the size it will sport. As for the dryer box setting, do you mean just placing filament inside the printer and having it dry out the filament ? That's really interesting. Thanks for watching and the feedback.
@@CaptainCreativity But as you pointed out in this video, I as well was JUST about to upgrade to the x-Max when boom. Updates after updates...like wtf? :)
@@OZtwo So for me, I did not mind as much the paper test as my first few prints came out really nice, what attracted me to the MAX and still does is the build size. I do a lot of prints that are droids or lifesize prints and on some pieces I definitely prefer to have it print in one shot. I think what QiDi is doing with their 4 series is the right move to making it easier and idiot proof with total hands free calibration. The one thing I really wish to see on these printers is automatic feeding/loading where you send it through to the hotend and it pulls it through. I dont like the unlock/locking process and I really dont like sending things through a run out sensor. IT should all be happening at the Extruder end. But thats just my opinion :)
@@CaptainCreativity Yes, the only issue with x-Plus4 is that it is not AMS friendly. They say AMS is coming yet for AMS the printer will have to be redesigned again -- as you pointed out here as you can see two key areas that just will not work without a redesign. BUT I will give it 3-5 months then update to X-Plus4 if not Max! :)
Yes sir! So glad you like it. I've actually heard others mention the same thing "that it reminds them of their childhood". If so I'm good with it and happy it does. Thank you so much for the feedback and thanks for watching
Huh, I never thought to try that, I have always been taught to always try cutting at an angle and not straight (squared), on my next filament change I am going to try that. I wonder if thats the trick for the Creality K1 Max, thanks for the compliment, the awesome feedback and of course, for watching :)
@CaptainCreativity i was also taught that on enedr style machines and have had no issues but trial and error on the qidi the square cut has never failed keep me in formed on your luck eith it please
Maybe , maybe not, I have found that sometimes when your close it size one could always just try rotating the helmet , not always ideal but sometimes it's possible. Thanks for feedback and thank you for watching
I only do full size helmets in 2 pieces split it close to the top and print, saves filament because there's almost no support required. Then attach the top
This is a very informative video! It really helped me to make my decision between both devices. Great quality and everything is really good explained. Thanks a lot for it!
The single hot end for all filaments is nice. I print different filaments a lot and swapping out print heads sucks. Also multi color is a nice bonus, not sure why it has taken them so long to offer it and very little details on it. Im looking to upgrade my first printer (xmaxii) which has served me well but its slooooow and things like bed leveling are lagging. I dont really have the space for multiple printers so I need 1 that checks as many boxes as possible. I wish Bambu had larger size but Im still leaning that way. I need to find out if its just a one print head for all filaments like the plus 4 that could sway me.
I've only heard in the recent weeks more and more positive things about the Plus 4 , The only thing that's holding me back right now if I feel like they're going to release the plus 4 max or something like that around the corner to replace the Qidi X Max , also I would really like to get it with the Qidi Box is actually out for sale. Thank you so much for your feedback and thanks for watching
I'll add to the list , meantime to note, their software is based on Bambu Studio and Prusa Slicer. Many use Orca Slicer or Bambu Studio for Qidi. One of the things I am very happy with on the Qidi is that compatibility with the best slicers on the market. Are you using the Qidi software or Orca or Bambu? I'm assuming the Native but just wanted to make sure. Thanks again for watching and feedback.
I'm not sure how they will do it with that locking mechanism by the extruder end for the filament. Also they definitely will have to bypass the runout sensor mechanism as I can definitely see issues of the filament getting stuck. But the locking mechanism is the one that cornerns me the most , I need to take a closer look at the Plus 4 , if that mechanism isn't there on the Plus 4 , then that is more confirmation that it may not be possible.
Yup I hope they would. The best way to see whether it'll be viable is to take a look at how they do it with Creality. That locking mechanism exists on the K1 series and they are coming out with the K2 along with their multi filament solution called the CFS. If they have backward compatibility with any of the K1 series then whatever method they use would likely be similar with Qidi. So it will be interesting to see how Creality does it and if they do it.
@@PoopythePlumber what kind of failure was it? The only thing that took me for a loop during setup was that according to the instructions they said to do the Z offset first. I did that and then I went to bed leveling and then it tells me that it's going to wipe out my Z offset. So I had to then go through the steps of letting the bed heat up do the paper test and then resume with the bed leveling. Thank you so much for watching and your comments and let me know about your print failure.
I totally feel the annoyance of printers coming out too fast. By the time a printer comes out and all of the REAL reviews come out, and the firmware gets updated and you finally save up for it. The next month after you get yours they release the new version and you feel like you waisted your money...
Yup well at least that's what I thought. I'm not certain it will be so much larger however what is more concerning is their recent statement they make no mention of size and so some are now speculating they are just going to stick with what they know and just improve on new features to further increase quality. For them to write this and not say anything about size is very disconcerting Here is the link forum.bambulab.com/t/bamb-lab-will-launch-a-flagship-in-q1-2025/103592 What are your thoughts on this ?

This is exactly the comparison I was looking for.

xmax3 is nearly a year old. I'm hoping max4 is out soon for the newer tech. The slow bed heating appears to be a US issue...lower voltage supply.
Me too, I'm excited to see it perform. Very curious what their next size would be
Oh man, so thats why its so slow, thanks for the tip there, so unfortunate though.
On the qidi i cut filament to a point and had same problem then i tried square and have had no problems
Great video thanks!!!

i guess the downside to the qidi 4 plus is that the 285mm vertical might make certain full size helmets impossible to print in one shot?

Can you make a video about the software qidi uses

The plus 4 does hold the filament dryer from Qidi... It clicks into the spool holder
