July 2024 Washington DC sight seeing tour Insta360 8k
These are a series of videos over the course of several days walking through DC.
The videos were shot using the Insta360 x4 camera in 8k video.
Notes:
Go to the settings wheel when the vide starts, select quality and increase the quality as high as you are able with your internet connection.
Many of the locations in DC do not allow you to use selfie sticks so I apologize in advance for the uncomfortable close ups of me where that occurs. 😉
If you want to visit the white house interior there is a process of contacting your congressman and getting a reservation more than a month before your visit. I didn’t know that.
Also get reservations for going up the Washington memorial a long time before your visit. The same day tickets they advertise giving out don’t really happen.
Get reservations for the Capitol, African American history museum, Holocaust museum, and air and space. There are 6-9 museums that need reservations.
Most recommended: Book your Holocaust museum visit for early morning if you can. This is the most impactful museum in DC, in my opinion, I needed several hours to get over the emotions the museum brought up. As an architect this is also my favorite museum in DC because of the detailing of the building that emulates the subject it houses.
The African American history museum is EXTENSIVE. It will take hours to get through. Use the bathrooms as soon as you get there or you have to come out to the main lobby and then run back to your party wherever you left them. It’s a long process.
The Natural history museum is really for elementary and middle school children. The information there isn’t anything your probably don’t already know if you graduated HS. It is a fan favorite as you can see inside. After a while I just had to leave because of the kid noise. It’s wonderful for kids though.
The order I think the monuments should be visited in. I wish I had seen this somewhere.
This is a long walk but it gets most of the memorials in series.
