Thanks so much for watching! ➡ kaiielle.com/links
I feel like some of the negative reaction to this movie came from it being leaked online before release and some people saw it with incomplete effects. It is the weakest of the Wolverine movies but the acting definitely isn’t the issue.
Do you want to really blow your mind? Remember the first X-Men movie? The guy that beat Logan up with a tree and stole his dog tags? That's Sabertooth, aka Victor.
Wolverine's real name is James Howlett and Logan is his nickname. Also you should know weapon x is the 10th program of the super soldier program with Captain America being the first subject of weapons Plus program. Which they still reference in the MCU with the super soldier serum that was called weapons Plus got used on Emil Blonsky aka the abomination.
We watched this at my buddies 13th birthday and we thought it was the coolest thing ever. Looking back….yeah not so much 😂 I mean it does some really good things like establishing Sabretooth, the adamantium fusion, the loss of memory etc. but most of the effects and shots (and especially the dialogue) are so goofy it tarnishes it all
James howlett is logan's birth name. He used the name Logan taken from thomas logan, who was Wolverine's illegitimate birth father and groundskeeper to the Howlett family
That end credits scene with the headless Deadpool, was the common one in theaters. But there was a different end credits scene that was shown in some theaters. Logan is drinking in a bar and the bartender asks if he was drinking to forget, and he replied that he was drinking to remember.
You'll definitely like the 2nd Wolverine film more than this one. Loving your X-Men reactions! Can't wait for the next bunch of films all in good time. 😊
The end scene of Deadpool 2 is where Wade "fixes" his appearance in this. That will make SOOO much more sense now, and you will probably appreciate Ryan Reynold's "regerts". 😅
I'll never forget, I played the game based on this movie years ago. The ending scene with Kayla and Stryker had one important difference. Stryker still shoots Wolverine, but Kayla walks into the ocean for no apparent reason after finding Logan's body. I know games based on movies are never good, but I had a real WTF moment when that happened.
Fun Fact : Hugh Jackman knew he wanted to do a team up movie with ryan reynolds from the day he saw the first Deadpool movie, which happened to be a couple of days AFTER he said he was retiring Wolverine 🤣🤣 (edited)
Fun fact for decades Wolverine had no origin outside of being experimented on by Weapon-X, Joining Alpha Flight, and then joining the X-Men. He also had some memories of WWII and meeting Captain America and Little Natasha AKA Black Widow. They eventually retconned it that Fury who was a WWII vet was giving Nat the same "Infinity" Serum he used to stay young. If curious how she was in WWII. But that's it Logan couldn't remember his childhood, family, or real name. & Marvel never had any intentions of changing that there was some weird ideas to make it he was a real Wolverine experimented on by the High Evolutionary but thankfully that was quickly dropped. But they liked the ambiguity of his past. Then X-Men (2000) was a hit and fearing the films would do an origin story they wrote one first. & yes the opening sequence is the best part of the movie.
Imo no matter what others say, i still like quite a bit of this tbh. Logan is still amazing in it, all the time. I think the first hour or so is actually pretty good, all the way up until the last act honestly. It kind of really goes off the rail. I also like Gambit getting to be in here as he's one of the coolest X Men. I love everything up to after he leaves the farmstead. Just something feels a little too off after he leaves there
I'd actually love seeing you watch the Deadpool movies. It will in fact be your first time watching them with the X-Men movies being watched and understanding all the references the DP movies make to all of them.
For a long time Channing Tatum was attached to be Gambit and he was even a fan favorite for the role. Unfortunately he ended up booking GI Joe and wasn't able to do it.
Much like my unpopular opinion that Solo is better than Rogue One, this is my favourite Wolverine movie of the three. It has its flaws, but it has great action, some really funny banter, and does a solid job fleshing out his backstory. Also, it helped to push the realization of the actual Deadpool movies, so that's a win right there.
This isn't the best movie in the X-Men universe, but people GREATLY exaggerate how bad it is. Great acting, great villains, and it perfectly explains Wolverine's past. It's campy and these cg claws are a downgrade from what we had before, but I had fun with it.
This movie is the REASON we got the Deadpool films. The current run of Deadpool is FAAAAAAAR closer to the character as depicted in the comics. I get the feeling that Ryan Reynolds did research for the character, realized how shit the depiction is here, and decided "even WE could do this better" 🤣🤣🤣
Starting with The Last Stand, there were things going on behind the scenes with director changes, actor scheduling, and poor decision-making by studio heads, which led to uneven, lower quality projects. “Logan” is the exception. The money guys always override the talent and rush things, and in doing so, make less money and guarantee a bad reputation. It’s a tale as old as time. Since Logan (and Deadpool) the X-Men ‘97 series is the best representation of the comics. Fingers crossed for the MCU version of X-men, coming soon…someday.
The part where Stryker says "you country needs you" and then wolverine replies "I'm Canadian" 🇨🇦 KL: no words, but thoughts in your head was like, yeah you are! 😎😉
Gambit is a fan favorite in the comics and the animated series. If you like Gambit, you really should check out the X-Men animated series from the '90s and follow up with X-Men '97. Scratch that. You should check them out regardless of how you feel about Gambit. They are phenomenal.
Even if you have already seen the Deadpools, I'd still totally watch your Reactions to them. And they'd be extra-relevant leading up to the digital release of the third part. Looking forward to the prequels reactions, they have some of the best X-Men movies so far.
Weapon X was the 10th attempt to recreate the super soldier program that produced Captain America. Not a bad film. Just messy with some odd creative decisions.
It wasn't a good time for us. Half the theatre was like "Oh, OK," and didn't think much of it, since they didn't know the character. Those of us who did were horrified.
Will .I. Am did a solid job. They had great chemistry. Victor appearing in X-Men as Sabretooth is one sign the films have limited continuity. Not only would this Victor not be a goon for Magneto, he would definitely have said something to his brother at some point.
Yeah, you really can't worry about continuity with the X-Men movies, because so many things get retconned, tweaked, and even forgotten throughout these films that it'll break your brain if you try to make sense of it all. Like, if this movie is canon, then the first X-Men movie should have had a moment where Victor (aka Sabretooth) is either surprised to see his brother or gives us a "Hello, Jimmy" at some point. But you can't concern yourself with that, because the filmmakers certainly didn't.
This wasn’t the greatest movie however that scene where Logan bursts out of the water vat after the operation still gives me chills. That’s easily the best wolverine scream across all of Hugh’s performances in my opinion. It’s just so primal and raw.
Since you say that you've already seen the Deadpool movies, it's pretty evident that the Deadpool we see in this movie is very different from the one we see in his solo movies. This version of Deadpool is a dramatic departure from how he appears in the comics. Any initial plans for a Deadpool movie were squashed after the very negative response to his appearance here. Regardless, Ryan Reynolds was pretty determined to make the movie happen with a more comics-accurate version of the character and his origin story, going as far as to film a short bit of test footage depicting what would eventually be the movie's opening action sequence. Even after seeing it, the studio still didn't wanna make a Deadpool movie. But in 2014, someone leaked the test footage online (the identity of the leaker remains a mystery, though Ryan coyly admits that only he, director Tim Miller, and two other people had access to copies of it), and it went viral with overwhelmingly positive reactions and fans demanding that the movie get made. Needless to say, the studio caved to the pressure and we got the red-suited Merc with a Mouth that we all know and love today. And now that you've seen this movie, all the jokes and references the Deadpool movies make about this movie should make a lot more sense to you.
In the comics he was born James Howlett but the groundskeeper whose last name was Logan was having an affair with James mother. So technically he would be James Logan.
My biggest hang-up with this movie is they teased us with a montage that looked infinitely more entertaining than what the actual story gave is. It has it's moments but overall disappointing.
Even just a Deadpool 1 and 2 highlight reel of getting references that you didn't understand before would be cool. But if thats the case then make sure to watch all the Xmen movies that came out before hand, if that wasn't already the plan.
So in Marvel comic lore, they are kind of obsessed with creating super soldiers of some sort. Hence why Wolverine is "Weapon X" or 10 cause after Captain America (Weapon I) they continue to experiment with the idea of a super solider and honestly none of them really work out they way they want it to lol. Off the top of my head Luke Cage is Weapon 6 I believe and Man Thing is Weapon 4.
I love the backstory of Wolverine. I really liked Gambit. Overall I liked the movie but the continuity issues dropped my rating. Deadpool being so OP made for a good fight sequence but I understand why they wanted a reboot. I think rewatching Deadpool after the other ‘X-men’ films will help you with more of the references to Wolverine and the X-men. Love ya KL! ✌️😉💕
I've enjoyed you watching the X-Men movies so much, Kaiielle! This one is my favorite so far! As you're getting deeper into the movie-versions, I'm curious to know what X-Men and villains are your favorites?
It was okay. That's about it. I like Wolverine. So, I watched the movie. It was okay. Yes, please do RUclips reactions for the DeadPools. Doesn't have to be first time watching. It's just fun to share it with a friend. Thank you.
Yes release order.......I really enjoyed the origin story, but the version of Deadpool presented in this movie is pretty bad. The Trickster and the Moon tale is so great and I like how they threaded the folklore through the movie. Liev Schreiber it amazing. If Marvel did a stand alone movie about Sabertooth with Liev I would totally be into it. The only thing I don't enjoy about Liev is spelling his name because of the i before e except after c. His last name breaks the rule....I had to look up the spelling....ugh!! 🙂
I think the only ones really trashing this movie are the comic book fans. I personally loved this movie, but the end with Deadpool was a bit too much. Considering the franchise, itself, had a major issue with consistency I don't hold the comic book to movie transfere too any standard than the rest of the movies. I don't like what they did with a few characters, but you take it with a grain of salt. I Ioved Liev Schreiber as his brother, who is later bka Sabertooth. Yes, the very same blonde long haired feral looking mutant from the first movie. He became so animalistic that he forgot himself and who James was to him. Both hate each other and neither can remember why. 😅 I also loved the beginning half of Ryan's Deadpool, with the sword ability. Of course Ryan couldn't let it go because he was determined to do a do over of his character, much to many fans' delight. See you in the next one.
I liked this movie. The opening sequence was taken from the Marvel mini-series "Origins", which finally gave Wolverine fans a beginning to his story. This version of Deadpool, though, fell flat with me. Knowing the character from the comics, it was disappointing. Gambit was okay, but no Cajun accent?
There's some good casting in this, unfortunately that's about all this movie has going for it. Really looking forward to some other X-Men stuff from you though!
Going forward, just like C-3PO, have your mind wiped of this movie. You don't need to remember anything from it except that Striker was the one who added the adamantium to Logan's skeleton. The jokes that are poked fun of it in the Deadpool movies will be funnier now that you've seen this.
This is part of the history that has been changed visa vie the time travel at the end of Deadpool 2,which is something used in the comics often so writers can put their own twist on titles like the X-Men.Many characters are brought back to life this way as well. The Wolverine is much better and plays directly into Days Of Future Past. The story in the Old Man Logan comic is a different part of the multiverse and not Earth 616. I am interested to see what version of Wolverine they use in the new movie.
This movie was such a wasted opportunity. They had 35 years worth of comic book stories to pull from. But they ignored all that and gave us whatever the hell this is. Made Sabretooth and Wolverine brothers for some reason. Threw in Deadpool because he was getting popular in the comics at the time, and didn't do it right. But the next one is a LOT better. It's loosely based on Frank Miller's Wolverine mini-series in the 80s.
This movie is rather unliked. Mostly from ruining the Deadpool character despite casting the perfect actor. Piling in Cyclops and other x-men, and basically shoveling as many mutant characters from the comics as they can was bad. And yes the claws look terrible in some scenes. But it has some great parts too. Casting Liev as Creed was great and their story/relationship is even better than the comics version imo. Mostly just from Lievs chemistry. The montage of their years at war is epic. It had the potential to be so much better rather than just having some great parts.
This movie gets a lot of flack, but I like this one better than "The Wolverine" film. I think the story in this one is simply better (even though the Wade character isn't great).
This movie was such a let down for me, not only as an X-Men fan, but a Wolverine fan as well. This should’ve the easiest film to make the most fun and exciting, but became the most bland and boring, and doesn’t keep up with the continuity of the other X-Men films. In my opinion, this is the lowest of the X-Men film saga. At least in X-Men 3, with all of their flaws, had cool action and visuals, had a good idea of whether or not mutants want to be cured or not, and Kelsey Grammer as Beast was awesome. I’m excited for you to get to Logan when you do
This is considered one of the worst X-men movies. I make a recommendation for an animated movie that does Wolverine’s origins better and pays tribute to his first appearance in the comics. Hulk vs Wolverine. 4 characters from Wolverine’s past appear in the movie. Sabertooth, Deadpool, Lady Deathstrike who was the Japanese woman from X2 and a rogue Russian Super Soldier named Omega Red. It takes place after his time with Weapon X and before he joined X-men, when he was with the Canadian Mutant Team Alpha Flight. They appear in the second season of X-men animated series episode Repo man.
It's an ok movie, if largely superfluous to the franchise, but it's still better than The Wolverine which is like watching paint dry. But then you get to Logan, which is one of the best Marvel films period.
@crispy_338 what spoilers? Oh you mean the fucking rumor that Channing was supposed to play a long as time ago in a solo movie that never happened? Yeah stfu ain't nobody spoiling anything cry baby
@kaiielle you most likely have but I have a horrible memory and usually need to be told something several times before it sticks. But I'll should remember this now.
These movies are better in timeline order so this first, First Class, X1, X2, Last Stand, The Wolverine, The Gifted Tv show, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool, Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and then Logan
I know I'm putting this out the day before Deadpool & Wolverine releases. 😂 I ask you to please keep spoilers out of the comments, not just for myself but for others who may not be able to watch that movie right away too! 💛💙❤🖤 I'll be saving that movie to react to for you all here on the channel when the time comes.
Will you be uploading you Daredevil reactions here?
Gavin Hood deserves another chance
Make a review on a 1923 movie.
Just wait until you watch Logan (2017)…
End credits...??
What about it? It's in the video.
I’m excited for you to get to Logan when you do
Big X Men and even bigger Wolverine fan here, but a mediocre is a compliment for this movie. I’m sorry.
This movie had such potential . . . they completely wasted Gambit and Deadpool.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the Deadpool shhhh bit was a Freddy Krueger reference?
I cant wait for Channing Tatum as Gambit. i bet he shows up in Deadpool&Wolverine as a cameo
Bro no spoilers ffs
@crispy_338 what spoilers? Oh you mean the fucking rumor that Channing was supposed to play a long as time ago in a solo movie that never happened? Yeah stfu ain't nobody spoiling anything cry baby
@@crispy_338 just for this I'm spoiling you tomorrow when I go see it 😉
@@crispy_338 like how tf you not know that Channing was supposed to play a solo film back in 2019?
@@dreamhayzeeffect4888 Cool, I’m not gonna watch it anyway so have fun alone at the movie
You know what's the worst part of this movie? The CGI claws. They look terrible. What the hell were they thinking....
This movie is better if you wouldve skipped it
That doesn't make any sense.
@kaiielle sorry but I didn't care for this movie in the slightest and have told people to not bother with it
I am never going to skip movies in a series and I feel like I've told you this numerous times by now.
I'm excited to watch in timeline order on a re-watch on my own time eventually!
