It's great seeing your Dad on a short clip. What a great explanation on the technique for roping cattle. Both of you explain things so well and I always learn a lot watching your channel.
Maaan, I was wonder what happen to Dad. Long time no see. Need more mama and papa time. Now, how'bout Joel and Gavin throw a rope . . . or just throw a stone. 😁
I agree buckaroo s and cowboys can always tell the real from the fake. way out west we always necking em during branding time and you do gotta pull your slack and dally up
OH Joel bring back memories of my dad we raised cattle in Florida, and every once in a while dad would get on his Tennessee walker and his rope. Miss you dad you left us way to young.👍👍
I'm new to livestock, but I figured I may need this skill on my acreage with more animals here by the day, so here I am. Both techniques you mentioned are familiar to me as someone who practices with a saber, so hopefully they translate.
This is no accurate. Don't rope directly behind. When you throw point in between the two horns. You can get around the horns that's thu best but neck catches and half head are allowed.
Look I grew up roping calves and steers and that is not how you do it at all just saying. I’m not trying to be rude but he needs to go back to cowboy school
He doesn’t know anything catching a steer or cow around the neck doesn’t hurt most of the time roping around horns hurt them more that why they have raps for the horns
So help me out because I grew up on a “farm” in VA where we boarded horses and trained them to show in reining. My step dad was famous in that world. I’ve never heard of you. Why are you wearing farrier chaps with tassels? No shade at all. You could just be a farrier that’s doing a demonstration.
dad is internet gold!
The demonstration with the rock helped me the most

Hows that work pulling slack with your left hand? turn your horse back over on you? That broomstick advice is BS!
Tf did i get here? I guess i watched too much yellowstone. I'm not even a cowboy. I live in the fucking philippines 😂
😂😂
🤣🤣
Well...that was a different way to teach roping...
Maaan, I was wonder what happen to Dad. Long time no see. Need more mama and papa time. Now, how'bout Joel and Gavin throw a rope . . . or just throw a stone. 😁
You don’t want to be right behind the target
Wow Joel your dad is a real life cowboy plus he can shoe a horse.🐎
Just a tip form an experienced team roper make sure to pull ur slack instead of walking backwards
Yea, he just floated his pony's teeth 😂
@@rafterL78 😂
You need to pull the slack with the hand your throwing your loop with and not stand right behind the steer
That's ONE COOL DAD 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dont forget to pull your slack, youll need that to dally, and your swings a little off

You should mention where you should hold the rope
OK, we need more of your dad... He is an EXCELLENT teaching personality!
Is this satire? I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.
The moment I saw Joel's dad, I know I gotta click and watch it.

Good job.
I use to be able to rope good. But it'll take a lot of work to get a horn.
Glad to see your dad in a short.😊
That's not how John Wayne would do it❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
is it similair to a whip???
You pulled your slack wrong 😂😂😂 but good open loop!
That’s awesome
Wow! I love how the two of you explain things. I love learning new things. Thank you both! Can not wait to see more.
"Its kinda like somebody grabbing your wrist"
*Me remembering my mom draggin me off by the wrist for a stern talkin to after I acted up as a child....

How about trying to get a calfs leg?
Look I grew up roping calves and steers and that is not how you do it at all just saying. I’m not trying to be rude but he needs to go back to cowboy school
What kind of rope. Please be honest. Money is tight.
He doesn’t know anything catching a steer or cow around the neck doesn’t hurt most of the time roping around horns hurt them more that why they have raps for the horns
This will be great for lucky luke
I don’t care what y’all say no matter where you live roping is the best
Thanks 😊
What type of material rope is that!?? Nylon poly or just nylon
What kind of material your lasso made of?
He supposed to be teaching when he can’t even turn his wrist over right he didn’t even pull the rope when go got it on the horns
You can catch it by the neck. It’s not choking the cow either.
I have gotten to the point as a farmer that I really need to learn to lasso.
The goats are too fast.
Awesome 😊😊
I feel when someone grabs my wrist😂
Joel you look like your dad!
How da hell does he have the rope
like that in the beginning
This is awesome!
I didn't even metion out loud to anyone that I wanted to learn this yesterday - and today this video perfectly shows up on my feed?? it's... perfect!!
What if they don’t have horns
Thank ya bro!!!
