Two Things: 1)Just a heads-up that I'll be offline for the next four to six months. Until then, I'll be looking forward to seeing you soon, and 2) Be the first in the comments to correctly name the song that I reference in the video and WIN a 340VolPilot T-shirt. I hope you'll enjoy this ride with me in the Cessna 340 from Anderson, SC back to the Gateway of Dyersburg, TN. We're cruising at 16,000 feet with lots of great ATC interaction and also some conversation about visual scans and the annunciator panel as well as some real-time troubleshooting when the left aux fuel pump goes out in flight. It had been repaired now.
I also fly a 340A (and post videos on my channel as well). The nice thing about Aux pumps is that they are easy to test on the ground (with the engine off switch to Aux and hear the pump running.)
Agreed and thanks for watching, and I'll check out some of your videos.
Enjoyed the flight. Thanks :)
Thanks Thomas. I appreciate you watching.
"Let's do it" Funky cold Medina - Tone Loc
I actually thought it was Funky Cold Medina when I posted that, and then I thought, I better check it out for sure. In tracking it down I re-learned that it was Tone Loc's "Wild Thing." You'll remember it when you listen to it. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
Great vids😊
Good deal. Glad you enjoy them
Excellent post sir, huge respect from an aviation enthusiast from India
Thank you very much! Great hearing from you.
@@340VolPilot 🙏
Love the videos and the 340!!
Good deal. Thanks for the feedback.
I have a 340 as well, thanks for posting these videos. I am based down the the street from y’all at 2m8 over by Millington TN . Cambridge you recommend a mechanic in our area? Need someone I cam rely in and knows these old birds . Thanks
Sure, I'd be glad to share some names with you. Email me at 340VolPilot@gmail.com and we'll go from there.
I just saw you'll be offline for a while. Hope everything is ok.
Yep. Everything is good. Thanks for asking. Just coming into an increasingly busy phase. I'll still be videoing -- videoing is the easy part. I just won't be able to edit them for quite some time. Be safe out there.
Wild thing
Wild Thing, Indeed! We have a WINNER!! I guess I was feeling a Throw-Back Thursday or something. Email me at 340VolPilot@gmail.com with your T-shirt size and address. I'll get one in the mail to you this week. Thanks for watching.
Why did you leave the analog redundant instruments while having the Aspen?
It was like that when we purchased it some years ago. I must say since they both types are still there, my eyes still go to the analog instruments quite a bit. I also feel like some of those gauges are related to the Ram VII engines and may actually be required as part of the Ram upgrade - I can’t say that with 100% certainty but I’m fairly certain that’s the case. Thanks for watching. Good to hear from you again.
Curiosity... what are the vertical things in the center of the left windscreen? Really enjoy your videos.
Good question. The vertical area that you're talking about is a heated area. It's known by several names: Heat Plate, Hot Plate, Heat Strip. If you get caught in icing conditions then that heated area keeps that portion of the windscreen clear. You'll hear all sorts of comments about the heat strip's effectiveness but I've never had any trouble with it but, then again, I never stay in ice very long. Once I see that I'm in it; my next step is to get out of it. I do realize that the heat strip in the way of the video but the heat strip is required for this aircraft when flying in instrument conditions. As always, Bill, thanks for watching.
@@340VolPilot Not to make a pun, but cool!
@@340VolPilot I told my girlfriend that since I was required to have readers available when I fly that portion of the windscreen is for when I need to see better.
Of course then I told her the truth. Got to kid at least a little bit.
Ha! Readers - That’s great.
Fuel conditioner left tank main. I bet your mains were even at landing. If not fuel selector valve. Another C340A piloto.
Very Good Thoughts. Turns out it actually was the Aux Fuel Pump. Had it checked and changed out after the flight
what cameras do you use?
I use the GoPro Black 11. It's the only camera I've used, mainly because all of this videoing and editing is very new to me. I've just started to experiment with 1080 vs 4K video.
Which autopilot do you have I’m in Arkansas and also have a 340
I use the S-TEC 55X. How about you and what part of Arkansas?
@@340VolPilot same and I’m in Conway
My daughter is @bonazabay thought you might follow her she’s the pilot
I looked for her channel but I don't see it.
