  • Although we posted the official POV the park gave us a week ago and our own mounted 3D POV a few days ago, we are still getting requests for EastCoasterGeneral's handheld POV. So here it is for everyone who asked to see just how smooth this coaster really is and to get an idea of just how much airtime Outlaw Run has to offer.
    Silver Dollar City is located in Branson, Missouri.
    Check out our off-ride video to see what this great coaster looks like as it flies around the track: • Outlaw Run off-ride HD...

    Just got back to the hotel after my second day at Silver Dollar City. Outlaw Run is the most intense wooden coaster I've ever ridden. It was totally awesome. I am a 63 year old retired school teacher, and I think an awesome job would be traveling around riding roller coasters!

    I seriously can't believe that there are people out there that think THIS is a rough coaster??? are you crazy!! this is incredibly smooth, it flies over the track and delivers and incredible ride.. wanna experience a rough woodie? go ride the Boss at SFSTL, or either of the "Hurler" woodies, Timberwolf at WOF, now THOSE are rough woodies...RMC is a premiere designer, they are taking wooden coasters to new heights and extremes..

      SDC has this bad habit of hiding their coasters so you don't get much of a view of them. Wildfire is the only one where spectators get to really watch it go.

    • @knexpert_of_kansas8127
      @knexpert_of_kansas8127 9 лет назад +6

      It's not a bad habit. It ads an invronment to their coasters. The park is about theming, and if there where coasters surrounding your every view you wouldn't get that nostalgic Americana old time feel

    • @BackSeatJunkie
      @BackSeatJunkie 9 лет назад +1

      Knexpert_of_Kansas I'm a former citizen. Worked there from 89 to 94. You can't really watch Thunderation. You only get to see the launch on Powderkeg. Outlaw Run has two FIRSTS in wooden coaster maneuvers and there is nowhere for people to watch either one of them. I would call hiding views a "habit".
      Wildfire is the only one in which bystanders can see the ride.

    I rode this three weeks ago, and it was the smoothest 'wooden' coaster I have ever been on. I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my companion had their eyes closed through the whole thing, so they missed it. Don't do what they did and miss the view.
    Look up while you're going through the rolls, it's awesome!
    The smoothest coaster there so far is Time Traveler, though. Thunderation was so rough, I thought the 'smokestack' on the faux engine was gonna fly off and smack me in the face...

  • @imjustK
    @imjustK 4 года назад +3

    I want to SDC last December on a weekday (with nice weather in the 50s) when it was only 10% full, and most of the 10% were old people. I could just walk onto any ride I wanted, except Time Traveler had a short wait.
    I rode Outlaw Run 10 times--in 40 minutes!
    The thing about Outlaw Run that makes it scarrier than other rollar coasters in the park is; once you go down the hill, there is never a moment that you can relax and catch your breath! The intensity keeps going non-stop until the end of the ride!

    The concept of a wooden coaster inverting is the same as a steel one. Many people are unaware but wheels are also positioned on the sides and bottom of the rails on a wooden coaster allowing them to flip upside down just as a steel one would. The wheels actually make contact with strips of metal which are attached to the wooden track, which is the same of all wooden coasters.

I recommend the very last seat because there is less inertia. The front is awesome too, but the front seat is the best because when you go on the drop, you're literally just hanging there for a moment. It's awesome! Definitely recommend this for anyone!

It IS worth going to the middle of no-where (AKA, Branson, MO) for this one. The other coasters at SDC are also good, so this is not a one coaster trip.
    There are some great shows there too...not just Country music...all Genres. Don't miss out on the lakes...Table Rock, and Taneycomo, are beautiful. Fed by rock a bed river, the water is very clean and clear. With goggles on you can actually explore the bottom, and see the fish you are swimming with.

    One interesting fact about Outlaw Run: it is one of the few inversion-bearing roller coasters in the world that DON'T have shoulder harnesses. The vast majority of such coasters (such as Silver Dollar City's own Wildfire) DO have shoulder harnesses as part of their seat restraints. Another inversion-bearing roller coaster that has no shoulder harnesses is the Shock Wave in Six Flags over Texas -- in spite of the fact that there are TWO consecutive loops right after the first big drop.
    "Inversion-bearing" refers to any roller coaster whose track features one or more inversions such as loops, barrel rolls, and corkscrews.

      Maybe...
      Regardless it turns out a few months after my wife and I went on the ride (and reached the same conclusion) there was a young girl who received a minor neck injury after being on the ride.
      Powder keg is still one of their best roller coasters imho, and unlike outlaw run it will not leave you sore (but maybe a little queasy ;) )

  • @cadman5610
    @cadman5610 6 лет назад

    The difference in riding this coaster in the front and back is night and day. I myself, an enthusiast also 6'1", prefer the back because of the intensity. My dad, an average park goer, likes the front because it doesnt jerk his neck or back as much. In the end it all comes down to personal preference but it still amazes me that people go into rides with no idea what to expect. Ive rode many coasters in my life and outlaw run is by far one of the most intense coasters in the US.

    • @cadman5610

    the Iron Rattler is a HYBRID roller coaster, meaning that the supports are wooden, but the track is steel. Six Flags is saying that it is the first inverting Hybrid coaster. It is going to be so sweet

    My take a day after riding this coaster for the first time:
    I will say this has got to be the first wooden coaster I've been on where the safety equipment beyond a lap bar is pretty warranted, and it flat out abuses the assumption that you're strapped in and the cars have safety wheels on the side and below the rails pretty firmly in ways that I've never seen any roller coaster do, it's definitely a pure momentum toy that does not give a flying fuck at seeing what it can do without trying to launch you to a degree that is very reminiscent of a cartoon.

      Paul Johnson I’m not 100% sure what you are trying to say, if you are saying the coaster isn’t safe, that is false. If you’re saying it is safe and it feels like you’re gonna die, than the coaster did it’s job right.

    Outlaw Run is not a hybrid like Iron Ratter and Texas Giant, although you are correct that all 3 are made by RMC, they are not the same design of coaster. Outlaw Run has wooden rails plated with metal, which is the same of all wooden coasters while the other two have fully steel rails with only wooden supports and are therefore classified as hybrids.

    Just a quick something for Orlando fans. There is a wooden roller coaster (White Lightning) similiar to this one but smaller at " Fun Spot". Also a yellow inverted coaster. Just outside or Universal Studios.
    Look up Orlandos first wooden roller coaster on the internet for more info.

    Missouri is not no-where! If you want to see this world-class theme park with world-class rides then you're going to have to come to the middle of nowhere as you call it because it's an experience you will never forget. This has to be undoubtedly the best theme park in the entire world and that's no joke. And when it comes to Christmas you will not find any park anywhere in the world more dedicated to the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ then this park. It is undoubtedly the greatest theme park in the entire world for food for fun and fellowship. My family and I go to this park at least twice a year. It is not our home park but it is in our backyard. It has excellent fishing in the area when it comes to trout fishing It has some of the most beautiful sights you would ever see in the Ozark mountains and it's home to the granddaddy of all Bass pro shops. The food around Silver Dollar City on the Branson strip is phenomenal. It's just an all-around great place to visit and you won't find any friendlier people anywhere else in the world I guarantee it.

      with 7 coasters i'm gonna have to go with a no on this one. Decent lineup but easily beaten by Hersheypark, Cedar Point, King's Island, King's Dominion, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Dollywood, etc
