You didn't wanna try the old chain it to an oak tree and stomp on the gas pedal trick? Good job teaching your helper to stay safe when pulling on things. Have a great weekend
I'm once again sifting through Lakeside Autobody videos because I have once again found myself in a pickle. Long story short is I launched my rally car about 7 feet in the air and it came down not so flat. My drivers side front frame rail is sitting about 2 inches higher than the other side. We pulled a decent amount of damage out of it by putting it between two trees and using a comealong, but that only helped in the front to back axis. We need to pull down now. I've been drawing up a plan, using a 4x4 or 4x6 piece of lumber, chaining it to the tow hooks front and rear, putting the whole car on my custom jackstands, spanning some 1x1 square stock between the jackstands and THROUGH the lumber post to keep the lumber from moving front to back, chaining it all between the trees, and using a bottle jack behind the damage to leverage the pull. The front tow hook chain and tree chain is actually gonna be my come-along, and we're hoping that this will pull down on the frame rail. Its not gonna be perfect, we just need to mount headlights, bumper cover, grille, etc back on the car. We would get on a frame machine but we dont have pinch welds anymore, or at least we dont have access to them, so this is our next best choice I guess.
@@LakesideAutobody update: no dice. Glad I didnt invest too much money in figuring out though. I had a few bugs in the setup on the first couple pull attempts, worked those out, and once that was done, the 4x4 was actually flexing upwards before the car moved downwards at all. I had never seen a 4x4 piece of lumber move like that before, but alas. On to making a front clip fit as best I can anyway.
u r lucky man , because u have all required tools and everything to repair and restoration, but we have just limited tools and envirment also not saving our lives.. wishing you good luck live from Pakistani Workshops.
Actually all the welders I've done a review on weld very similar. Only reason I use the Miller is 'cause it's so heavy I can't put it on a shelf - the others I can. It also only has 2 controls - easier to use than any other welder. I just like simple 👍
A lot of good running and driving cars are totaled out due to frame damage. Knowing how to pull the frame out can land you a decent ride with little effort and cost. I wish i knew how to do all of this.
Picked it up for 1500 at COPART - runs good, drives straight, everything works - even the air. My son wanted a winter beater - this will last quite a long time actually 😊
Nice work getting the frame and bed back into shape. Having the right tools makes a lot of difference 👍
Thanks 👍 RG - just needed to make it drivable 😊

Have a great weekend
Yeah.... that was my dad's trick. He also tried welding a gas tank one time. I learned from his mistakes :)
As always love your vids. Great job. Love that your son is following in your footsteps.
Thanks - he does love cars. Ever since he was a little guy. He's finding his way - it's a different world today for sure 😊 Thanks for watching 👍💯

Thanks for reminding me - sometimes we complain here in the US but I think we do have it pretty good. I wish you good luck too ❤️😊👍
@@LakesideAutobody Thanks for your best wishes.🥰
Now it just looks like a used truck. Great job. How long did it actually take?
A few hours. Doesn't take long once you have the machine set up 😊
Are miller welders more superior than other welders or are we paying for the name? Thank you for the video!

It really can - especially if you are picking cars up from places like COPART.
That truck is junk
I'd still get a ton of use out of it. Therefore not junk.

@@LakesideAutobody sure if a man isn't towing and you want a beater, I would pull that engine and drop it in something worth it
