Alma is a very exacting composer. In a two day collaboration for a song like this, that is never going to be bad. However, any conductor involved in a production of Cinderella had better be very talented or very patient (preferably both). Alma will mercilessly point out every imperfection in the playing, singing and everything else. It leads to good results, but for many would be a harrowing experience.
This is fantastic. These little glimpses into Alma's work process are always fascinating. Her raw musical ability is impressive, but what is equally impressive to me is her work ethic, the way she communicates her ideas, and her ability to collaborate with other professionals to accomplish her goals. As Alma herself has said many times, "it is a lot of work" to do all of this, and her natural gifts would mean nothing if she were not also willing to put in the time and hard work required to realize her potential.
I love these videos where you can actually see how accomplished musicians are both amazed and pleased in presence of Alma. They all have the same look, the same light in their eyes. She is not a prodigy, nor a curiosity, she is not someone you can compare or define, she is music in all particles of her.
Alma is a wonderful talent and always expresses herself with a great deal of intelligence and confidence, but she is also genuinely modest. God bless her!
Yes, no ego in her, no rushing after fame, no fake selfies, no gimmicks, just genuine talent an pure joy of making music. I salute her parents for raising her so well.
It’s such a joy to me to watch and hear you Alma, Thank you for making the world a better place with your beautiful music. P.s I really like to see the way you dress up and do your hair, like a girl because that’s what you are, and you’re not “playing” to be a woman like most of the girls your age do, you’re AMAZING in every single way, and I’m very glad I “found” you
I love her reaction at 4:10 when he’s telling her about how his family now sings the song. You can see by her reaction how pleased she is to know that his family does that.
@@ONeirda Absolutely. It's also really beautiful to see her grow up in front of our eyes. This is a phenomenon that only happens once a few centuries (Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin) and we are really lucky to witness it.
I think so too. I was fascinated about the legends and anecdotes regarding young Mozart, and could hardly imagine how it must have been. Now I can witness what such a kind of musical genius "looks" like. I only hope we don't bother Alma Deutscher too much when we look at her simply as a sensation. After all, she is a young woman with all the right to grow up undisturbed.
I wish I could get an address for Alma. I would like to say how much I admire her musical ability and that she composes classical music. That is so wonderful! I would also like to know if she would ever come to southwest Florida to give a concert.
All of you Alma fans, don't miss Alma and her sister Helen singing "Twas the night before Christmas". What an enchanting composition, and two angel voices!
Im feeling this excitement. My mom always celebrated a typicle European type Christmas with us and this music fits right in with my nostalgia and Christmas past and the smells of pine needles and dipping of candlewax
Why..... compare..... she is uniquely Alma and is already becoming famous as a player and as a composer She wants to become the first Alma not the second Mozart or Schubert She’s on her way to world fame...
Alma is so super talented musically, instrumentally, compositionally, and adroit at simply being consistently creative as The First Alma and not the Second Mozart. Alma is a natural English rose and also speaks fluent German and she does fine with Hebrew. Alma is magical and our current and future generations will be enlightened by her original operas and classical compositions.
Alma: How can you be described? We spent our lives waiting for an angel. Now that you have arrived what else can we expect. You're here, on this blessed (blessed because of you) planet what so ever, and that's enough.
When Thomas Hampson tells "good idea" to a 13 years old musician, she must to be amazing (and if you hear any Alma's song, you know she is amazing and more).
You’re amazing Alma- I’ve followed you since you were about 10- a true talent among talents- and no..... you are not the Second Mozart you are the first Alma...... people will come to refer to you and remember you as “Alma” You are so young..... can’t wait to hear your incredible future repertoire ..... what a wonderful future you have!!
I've just became an automaton. Just kidding, but I would access Alma's link, hit the like button right away, save content to my classical folder and then listen to her wonderful creations. What a wonderful world is she designing for us. God bless her marvelous 'alma' (soul in latin)!
Last December (2019) Alma appeared in concert at Carnegie Hall with The Orchestra of St. Luke's and conductor Jane Glover in a program of her own compositions including both her piano and violin concerti, selections from her opera, "Cinderella," and a new concert waltz for orchestra. After intermission and her performance of her own piano concerto, Alma introduced a couple of pieces that were not in the program. The first was a piano transcription of a song based on a poem by Goethe. Then she told the story of how she had composed a song to the words to "Twas the Night Before Christmas" when she was just 8 yrs old. She then went on about how she had recorded the song with the famous American baritone, Thomas Hampson, but regretted that he was not there to perform it with her. However, he was there and hurried onto stage calling her name as she was "rueing" how he was not there to perform it with her. And then the two artists did perform it to a thunderous applause from the capacity crowd. It was a perfect ruse and a wonderful performance.
I listen to this beautiful music whenever I can. I want to hear the whole Night Before Christmas clear through. Where can I find it? I love Thomas singing it. Wonderful!!!!!!
“I don’t want to be a Mozart or a Schubert.” My heart broke and soared all at once when I heard that. I absolutely love her.
it is on 3:36 for people looking for time
I was hoping she would say something like that . . . and she DID.
I totally shared your sentiment when I heard her say it ! Great girl !
What a gift to the world you are!
@moto serra if Mozart had a daughter
I love Alma's passion for 'getting it right'.

Besides composing and playing Alma is also an excellent voice coach! Just watch this video. And how her eyes shine with the joy of making music!
How blessed I feel to be born in time to watch her grow and soar higher every day!

You can tell her brilliant mind is moving a bazillion miles a minute as she’s working through the kinks of a piece. You’re such a gift Alma!
Notice the joy in Alma’s eyes whenever she says the word “melody”, or “music”.
What an angel. Thank you Alma, for your music.
No words. Watching her is pure joy. She embodies all that is good in humanity.
This is not talent, this is historical genius
She’s brilliant! Period. This is a window into how a genius works and thinks.
Loved her serious, diligent attitude. A true musician with great faith in herself and speaks the beauty and honor of music
you can see the passion and desire in her eyes when she talks about music, god bless her 😊

She knows what she wants and knows how to get it. Amazing.
Alma, continue being the lovely, talented, gentle soul that you are.
Blessings be upon you.

Thank you for these delightfully charming five Minutes !!!
I loved the version you initially performed aged 8; however this collaboration is even better. Best wishes to you and your family from Ireland.
So sweet Thomas Hampson with Alma speaking🧡🧡
This is so beautiful in so many ways. I have tears in my eyes. Thank you both!
Alma, you are a blessing to this world, thank you!
What a great addition to a world wide classic!
Oh, I feel so lucky to live in the same time as her. She is a Genious. Bravo, Alma.
I'm studying the piano at the moment and I hope I get to perform one of Alma's pieces one day :)
@@joemusic2882 thanks a lot!
You can get the scores to her Book of Melodies now; from Schirmer (#CH88148).
How very fortunate we are to be able to listen to Alma. A real pleasure.
It's kinda funny, watching 13-year-old Alma teaching an acomplished opera who is more than 4 times her age!

So inspiring! The world needs to know about you.
A musical genius....delightful, joyful

Our favourite composer is Alma Deutscher!
Wow, this has all the makings of a Christmas classic!
One day Alma you will be among legends...
All of you Alma fans, don't miss Alma and her sister Helen singing "Twas the night before Christmas". What an enchanting composition, and two angel voices!
What a great day to start my day! Thank you for sharing your gift, Alma!
Splendid. I’m sharing you with all my friends and acquaintances. You’re a breath of fresh air and a godsend.
This was awesome!, and Alma, when I listen to the music that you compose, I don't hear any other composer
than the Great Alma!
Thank you Alma. So lovely to see you collaborating together. The whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts!
Im feeling this excitement.

It has been a joy watching you, and your music, mature. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift with the world! 🎁 🎄 🎅

such beauty from within Alma
Amazing to watch..... Thank you!
Thomas Hampson: "Everybody calls you Mozart, I call you Schubert" (3:36)
and Alma won't be either ..
Is alma but remember other composers.
