Take my follow, your German impression was HILARIOUS. Have a great day God bless!!!
Thank you man!! I'm glad you liked it! God bless!!
Good video!
@@number6705 thanks!
I once owned a Leica CL and the Leitz/Minolta CL which was marketed and serviced by Minolta. I had some issues with th CL but they were rectified by Leitz.
It was never meant to be a camera to be as tough as an M camera. It had the same semaphore meter as the M5. I sold both of mine a long time ago.
The late Canadian photographer Michael Reichman, the projenitor of The Luminence-Landscapape once said. Never sell a Leica. Maybe he was correct.
Nice video.
@@angloitalo thank you for watching, and for sharing!
Great video! I hope to see more CL content from you. Im looking to get one as my second film camera.
@@shelby.singer thanks for watching!! I hope you love it, it’s such a solid guy
not just great explainer and opinion but great paced video too! 🤙
@@KevSmith235 thanks for enjoying!!
I have owned 9 leica CL by now. right now I have 2 that i use regularly among 5 other M bodies. The CL is freaking lovely with one issue, not a single one i saw has the rangefinder 1 meter adjustment spot on. so infinity will math but 1 meter will be a bit off (test by measuring 1 meter exactly, moving the lens to 1 meter and look at split image). The adjustment for this is no easily reachable at all so nobody really adjusts it. As long as you dont use an f1.2 lens you wont notice in most cases but the worst I had was that at f2 it was backfocusing. If they had made adjusting easier i woul daily drive it.
repair manual figure 12.1 (not B 12.1) says for the 1 meter adjustment guide lever and mirror must be removed to set it. so forget about fast lenses basically :D
@@Bbarm97 oh dang! I haven’t shot any fast glass on it! But that’s super good to know, thanks!
rangefinder base is narower and less accurate than larger leicas..
Wow, great video.
@@CornerWaller thanks for watching!!
Cool video, thanks
@@sc1 thanks for watching!
Had one....really miss it
@@dfrombc I can certainly see why!
Minolta, with Leica branding.
Buy a Leica... You get a Minolta ... You get a Panasonic... But at Leica prices.... Call it Leica Tax.. :)
It is more of a Leica than all the Leica clones of Lumix cameras. You can still see a Lumix even in an SL2s.
@@lensman5762 mhm! To me the minimalism makes it unique if that makes sense! It seems to be still based on photography, and nothing past it
@@CalvinDraht Yes it is. It was designed as an affordable Leica-M, with a line of affordable M mount lenses. They deliberately went for the 40mm rather than 35mm, as a 35mm Summicron was the sole domain of Leica Ms and the holy grail of 35mm lenses at the time, hence the ridiculous 40, 50 and then 90 frame lines. BUt these days the asking price for one of these is not actually that far from a less than perfect M2. Nice cameras for photography, though.
40mm f2 and 90 f 4
@@dfrombc I was looking at those lenses, they seem interesting for sure!
The 40 was a summicron, and the 90 was an elmar c......
0:40 Practial ?!
Hahahahah totally missed that!! Good catch!
a very unreliable camera! One shouldn't recommend gear thats faulty. The Minolta CLE better but better how?
@@jasongold6751 the light meter will go, but I’ve heard rather little about the actual camera going. Have you had issues with them in the past?
I considered a lot of options and ultimately landed on getting a Minolta CLE three years ago. It’s one of three film cameras I own. I love the fact that it has the 40mm framelines. I wish my Leica MP had that option.
@@cggg490 good to hear it! I think the series is just super fun
its a minolta, like the r3, r4 and several others, Ms made in canada are real leicas
Actually, compared to an M-Leica, the CL is shit. Bad build, really short EBL and weak electronics. Buy an M4-2 instead, much more for the money.
Introducing others to another shit😂
@@northwindow8635 Not really. For a period of time I owned the M3, M5, M6, M6TTL and M4-2 and I compared them side by side. The M3 is by far the best build. The M5 is great, very underrated, but way too big IMO, the M6 and M6TTL are good users but overrated in money value (viewfinders tends to flare in dim light, build quality is not as good as earlier models). The M4-2 has a better viewfinder, lacks the irritating LED-lightmeter + the useless self-timer that tends to malfunction over time. Also the M4-2 is way cheaper than M6, which makes you want to use the camera and not just keep it on your shelf.
I also had the CL for a period of time. Waste of time. Not even close in build quality.
sticking to Soviet rangefinders rn
@@Baer9471 Crossing my fingers they were built on a Wednesday and not Monday or Friday. :)
