Great video! I like that you told about acclimating these orchids! Love the lepanthes! They are my favorite genus of miniature orchids 😊 Love your kitty too! Love orange 🧡 kitties 😸 😊 Great Orchid haul you got!
I think im going to start doing as you did with the humidity box.. ive got a pretty large terrarium chamber ive been working on for quite awhile and i think it could easily be a good quarantine/humidity chamber for new plants.. i havnt had the motivation to finish it lately but this is a great idea and i can use my ceeation as such. and it would be much easier to adjust them slowly to different conditions from there and acclimate them slowly without such a shock. subscribed! Nice video Very helpful. And thanks -L
Hi Laura! I remeber seeing you around NinjaOrchid's chats 😄 Right, that sounds like a perfect use case for it. Trying to reduce the shock of new conditions has been the make or break for a handful of orchids I've purchased in the past. Very nice to hear from you 😃
Do you have any plans to build some kind of terrarium setup in the future? I got to see Ecuagenera's barerooted cattleyas in person last year when I attended my first orchid show. I know they have a great reputation but I always worry about dessication when plants are sold like that. I like how you used the plastic container to increase humidity. The only issues I had with acclimatizing an orchid were the Phals. bellina and violacea that I got last year. They were very young when I bought them in February and both dropped some leaves soon after. They survived but they grow extremely slowly indoors. I'm planning on having them in an enclosed porch starting in early spring so they can get warmer temperature and higher humidity.
Since I keep reptiles and amphibians, in the future once I finish school I would like to make a terrarium to keep dart frogs and use almost exclusively orchids endemic to where the frog is from. Wont be for a while 🥲 I think your enclosed porch idea sounds great. Nothing can beat natural airflow, humidity, and indirect light. Happy growing!
Really good advice.
Love the live moss!

Ah thank you Paula 😃 Me too, Lepanthes have a lot of charm in a small package. Hehe thank you, yes she always steals the show 😼
Wow i never knew you could have it arranged to pick it up at a show! Thats a really cool tip!
Whenever I can excecise the patience to pick them up (half the time I can't), I'm always glad I did.

Something i ended up doing eith two of my grow lights is put a slender piece of leftover window film over them. That also works well!
Ah thats a very good idea, I think I may try that one.
