Wood face has been one of my favourite albums since the first day I heard it in 1993. However all I ask has only just become a favourite. What a stunning song, that stands in its own time and space 💙
Two beautiful songs indeed. Especially “Pursuasions”. So spot on. Tim lacks self confidence. He does not know how many special songs he has written. “Stuff and nonsense” is not such a beautifully melodic song, but the words won’t get any better. Tim👏🏻🙏🏻
Second finest Te Awamatu's greatest, only slightly behind Neil. Brilliant to see him back in concert in earlier 2000s. Woodface was a simply outstanding album.
This is a nice enough version, but I don't think you'll find a sweeter version than Richard and Teddy Thompson, farther and son, harmonising beautifully together. This is the version that makes me cry: ruclips.net/video/g35D5jwpbpM/видео.html
Richard Thompson's guitar is too over the top and out of tune in places, it spoils the sweetness of the song. It would sound better with Tim alone. Listen to the brilliant acoustic version on the CD single
Obviously improvised and not rehearsed although Richard Thompson wrote Persuasion. Although I love behind the nut bends and country licks, it’s not sitting nicely with Tim’s rhythm Guitar and his singing.
@@ChristopherLightfoot-zu3kb RT wrote the music, with Peter Filleul, for a film. Tim Finn later added the words. To say it's "obviously improvised and not rehearsed" is plain silly. For a start, Later is thoroughly rehearsed before they do the live run-through. But also, RT and Tim Finn have played this song a lot together. They work well together, and they know what works with each other. And to say that RT's guitar is "too over the top and out of tune in places" is, frankly, ridiculous.
@@TheGreenDragon99 Sorry if you think my opinion is SILLY… It’s after all my opinion and I have seen Tim Finn, Crowded House and Richard Thompson live and thoroughly enjoyed every performance… I just said that this particular performance seemed somewhat loose and it didn’t sit well together….but hey, again it’s my observation

What a bloody talent Tim Finn is. The great songs he has written himself, and with his brother for Split enz and Crowded house are amazing.
For crying out loud! The voice, the man, the wonder. Proud Kiwi❤
Richard Thompson on guitar and Tim Finn - absolute masterpiece!
Haven't heard his live version of "all I ask" before, a lovely treat. And "Persuasion" is such an awesome song.
Was fortunate enough to have seen him in concert once. Unforgettable. Incomparable!

Big like from me bud. This is real music, and talent that acts like the Spice Girls, Adele and Rhianna can only dream of being as good as.

yeah. This is zen. Some music IS timeless. This is simply another example. Glad that this is on that list.
I could only ever wish that Jools had been a railway porter in Northallerton. National treasure.
Such an attractive man
