17-year-old Jack Johnson surfs in the Pipe Hawaiian Trials 03:00 while Kelly Slater, Todd Chesser, Shane Dorian, Todd Holland, Matt Archbold, Mike Stewart, and friends surf at Off The Wall. Liam McNamara wins the Trials over Johnny Boy Gomes, Larry Rios, Michael Ho, Marvin Foster, Tony Moniz, Vetea David, Erin Grabarek Gerry Lopez, and others.

Young Jack was understandably stoked with his perfor­mance because he’d competed with and beaten a few of his surfing idols.
