Lasik doesn’t mean you’r eyesight won’t get bad later on in life. It only corrects your vision, doesn’t prevent it from getting worse. Loads of factors play a role when it comes to bad eyesight.
Same here, but I went back to glasses almost immediately. I had lasik just over 9 months ago and got glasses again (-.75 in right) 3 months ago. I kind of knew when I went in that I hadn't waited long enough for my prescription to stabilize so this isn't surprising. But my vision before surgery was -7 in both eyes so I'm in the same boat where being able to spend 90% of my day without glasses is something I haven't been able to do in over a decade. Anyway, I also have dry eyes and still see starbursts on those super annoying LED headlights and minor halos at night. Even if my eyesight somehow returns to -7, I wouldn't laser them again. It's looking like my "side effects" won't ever go away and there's no chance in hell I'm gonna do anything to make it even worse.
Diane Y you can always try ortok afterwards. It is normal when you are - 7, you want to improve your eyesight with lasik surgery. However, the regression is normal as well. I had prk and I had regression in my right eye, - 0.5 astigmagism (which is worse). Anyway, I was - 5 before. In my opinion, dry eyes is far the WORST side effect of Lasik. I would recommend people, ICL surgery. It is less invasive, you don't feel dry eyes and, although it is more expensive, there is no regression :)
You have to change your habits, theres no such thing as stabilization, what exists is less growth hormone, so less possibility of ocular growth, but its always possible if you dont change the way you are using your eyes. Read that: gettingstronger.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Myopia-a-modern-yet-reversible-disease-AHS14-compressed.pdf
Big mistake, should have stuck to glasses. Their are possible complicatios from post lasik. Try your best not to have any trauma on the eyes as it can displace the cornea which will never fully heal.
@Rich 91 there is a whole website (lasiksuicides.com/) dedicated to those who have committed suicide after Lasik operation due to the chronic pain they suffered. It is NOT perfectly safe. Look up Jessica Starr, a famous fox news weather reporter who suffered the same sad fate.
Same happened with me, started noticing it’s with driving, I’m now half way back to where I was when I started (-4.50 & -3.00) and feels like it’s continuing to deteriorating now having to wear lenses permanently. Highly annoying as I paid way over the odds to do so due to my astigmatism. I’m too scared to re laser, so back to the beginning for me 🙄
I had a PRK surgery two years ago, and just yesterday doctor prescribed me glasses, for my right eye has become weak. So you think it is normal! And surgeries just doesn't gurantee lifetime cure and we can have weak eyes again !!
I was very interested in hearing what you had to say about needing to wear glasses again after having lasik 4 or 5 years ago and being glasses free for that long and now back needing to wear glasses. I'm a retired optician and you're clearly still quite young so 4 or 5 years ago you of course were even younger still. So i am curious about what your age was when you had lasik? I'm guessing not much older than 18? Lasik has proven to work with better long term results by waiting until you're at least 25 to get it done. Also when you had your tested what line on the eye chart was the best you could see? I mean if you were like most that get lasik you most likely have been enjoying better than perfect vision for the past 4 or 5 years. Usually everyone sees no worse than 20/15 and many see 20/10 and even 20/5. But they over correct you on purpose because they know over time your eyes are going to settle closer to 20/20 or 20/15. So after being used to seeing at even 20/15 for that long even going to 20/20 you're going to notice the change in your vision much like you would if you went from 20/20 to 20/30. One thing I learned being an optician is that if a patient came in complaining about having difficulty seeing when driving at night doctors will always prescribe them with a very weak prescription to help them. That prescription is a simple -.50 SPH in both eyes and nothing for CYL or axis. They encourage you get the AR coating on your glasses (anti-reflective) as well. In a number of these cases the patient had otherwise perfect 20/20 vision. It sounds like what you may have been prescribed for your glasses? If I am right those glasses won't do harm to your eyes and should be just enough to sharpen things up for you. I don't think your eyes are going to change very much and I don't think think you will ever need to wear your glasses full time unless you choose to. You're certainly not ever going to get back to where your eyes were before you had lasik. Actually as you probably know glasses are very popular now as a fashion accessory and many young ladies are even buying and wearing fake glasses just because their so popular. Having a weak prescription is better than wearing fake glasses don't you think? And did i mention that you look great with and without glasses.
Hi Trisha, If you're interested i'd recommend checking out endmyopia.org/ and joining the Facebook group if you and others want to learn how to heal your eyesight naturally. I'm already starting to see some improvments and I haven't been doing the programme for long!
I had LASIK about 10 years ago and then had my right eye redone with LASEK (no flap) a couple of years later after some astigmatism developed in that eye as it healed. If I had the choice again I think I would go with LASEK since there is no flap created for that so nerves in the cornea are not severed and should have fewer dry eye problems, of which I have some. My eyes felt weird for months after LASIK. LASEK does have longer initial healing though so it was a couple of weeks before vision seemed as clear as LASIK after a couple of days. Having both eyes done with LASEK at the same time would require more time off work though. Advertising is a lot of BS - 20/20 vision is quoted a lot, but for me although I had 20/20 after a couple of days it took months for 'crispness' of letters to return. A lot of quotes and statistics given are from people after a few days/weeks, with little info from people after a couple of years which would be more meaningful.
It is totally normal to have some regression after few years. Hopefully, you won't never have - 6, but it is normal to have regression. I have some friends who have this procedure and after 6, 7 years they have needed glasses again. But it stopped. They have - 0.75 and thats it, it stopped. It worth, but it is sad that you still have dry eyes. I have have done prk and, although it was super painful, at least I don't have dry eyes. However, I have a very sensibility to light, halos, glares, etc. Anyway, you can try ortok. Can you drive at night?? I can't now... After 5 months of procedure...

Try it and tell me if it worked.

Your eyes are gorgeous with or without the glasses. However, you just convinced me never to have Lasik. Why go through the risk and expense if it only lasts a few years?
lazer surgery can last a long time as long as you dont spend every moment glued to a computer screen in the dark it also depends on the person and when the eyes finally start to settle down and dont change as much you still will need reading glasses most likely at 40 or over but it can help greatly with distance
Good choice. As people keep saying, Lasik does NOT repair your eyes. It just cuts a lens into the cornea. It's like sugar addicts getting insulin resistance, and then just injecting so much insulin that they can continue consuming sugar all day. Answer WHY your eyes got worse before ANY trickery with lenses, operations, or whatever people want to sell you. If you can't answer that question, you are in trouble, and no amount of lens-monkeying or eye-lasering will change that.

I had lasik November 10th 2016. A week later I was seeing 20-20 & a month later I’m seeing 20-15. I got mine done at the age 24. My surgeon said the way my eyes look, he can get my eyes up to my 60’s. Not sure if that’s true. I don’t regret getting mine done one bit. I still see the same & my 3 month check up is in a week. I was -425 in both with contacts until surgery they said I’m -475 in my left & -450 in my right. If my eyes got worse like yours I will definitely won’t get my lifetime warranty eyes re lasered to take that risk. I will go back to what I was born with wearing glasses. I am looking to pay to get my 20 yr old sisters -750 both eyes this summer a few months after her 21st b-day before she moves out of state with her boyfriend.
Thanks for the update. My eyes are around -6 with astigmatism and I had a consultation in December. I would love to be able to wake up and see without glasses or contacts.

I am looking to pay to get my 20 yr old sisters -750 both eyes this summer a few months after her 21st b-day before she moves out of state with her boyfriend.
kelvin steffen wow what a great gift! I hope urs is stable unlike mine!!!
You look nice in your glasses!
Thanks for the update. My eyes are around -6 with astigmatism and I had a consultation in December. I would love to be able to wake up and see without glasses or contacts.
chandsfreer don't do any eyes surgery.
Rosa Nunez explanation?
Kevin Kaminsky dry eyes, halos, glares, light sensitivity, and you never know if you'll get glasses again afterwards. I did this surgery and I regret. One thing I leant: once you get any surgery, you won't never see again like before... Contrasts, night vision... So many things...
Rosa Nunez what about lasek
Kevin Kaminsky lasek is mostly the same than prk. You can get the same halos, sturbusts, etc and dry eyes as well. After 6 months I wouldn't say I suffer dry eyes BUT there is always a chance...
really , why
Can you make a weight loss video? X
About to have lasik and they have a great deal where u get free enchantments if needed
You should have done the Bates Method. It will naturally correct your eyesight.
if you were doing ortho k, you know you most likely could adjust for this.
Try using computer glasses to protect your eyes better
Great video thank you.
Alan Furlong thanks for watching Alan!
Must of been too young when you got laser, always best to make sure your prescription as been stable for a couple years
Thank you for the update. Now, can you do another one? :)
Do a vlog of your eye testing room please !
