I probably should have been more defining on *viable* vs *optimal* MC is not a hard raid and a lot of guild will clear it with a lot of different comps. This video kinda looks at DPS that can top the charts with relative ease. In Classic that is only possible if you get the right buffs and utility classes are very important. If you want to play a "support" DPS and bring more than just DPS to the table, please do so. I make disclaimers in all my ranking videos and I guess I should have added to this, *playing the class that you enjoy* > *looking great on meters*
So there actually is a huge mis conception about the enhancement shaman! 1) Enhancment shamanas can actually be viable dps throughout the whole game. During MC/BWL/ZG you will want to get all the gear you can with Agi=criti > Stre = attack power> and int. There is actually alot of pieces of gear in the first three raids with those stats. And with axe specialization with orcs you only need to get 6 percent hit rating from gear (which is super easy). There are alot of hunter off pieces that drop in raids that enh shamans can use (that hunters don't need since they only use 8/8 t1 or 8/8 t2). It's very imporantant to get to as close to 33.33 percent crit to have 100 percent flurry up time. Once AQ 40 hits, enhcnament shamans have probably the best t2.5 set in the game for all classes because its perfectly stated for Enh. At this time there is alot tons of gear with hybrid stats on it (mixture of stre, agi, int, spell damage, spell crit and melee crit). There are als alot of 2h in the game that are completely ignored, like spinal reaver and hand of rag is bis for the whole xpac for enh. 2) So with the gear previously mentioned you may be wondering why you want to get a mixture of melee stats and spell caster stats? The reason why is because the best spec for enh shamans is actually classicdb.ch/?talent#hE0dL0hoZxVbdVMhx . The way you play this spec is constantly using max rank frost shock, using rank 1 when nearing oom, and using chain lightning on clear casting procs (which scales with winters chill (10 percent frost crit) and warlock frost debuff (lower frost resis and increase frost spell damage)). On longer fights it's even viable to use rank 1 frost shock throughout the fight just to proc elemental devistation to gain a extra 9 percent melee crit. The whole point of this spec is to utilize increased frost damage and aswell having a whopping 10 percent spell crit with winters chill which procs elemental devastation alot! Enh shamans can also stop using abilities to start regaining mana mid fight before they need to re-apply totems. Also any on hit effects that fire, frost or nature damage gains 100 percent crit damage which scales with the malestorm trinket, LBRS trink and chilli. Another added bonus is that if you are being forced to weild night fall this spec compliments the spells that you will be using anyways. From my testing aswell, it seems like items like storm gauntlets that add 3 nature damage to your melee hits is acting like seal of righteousness as is acting like a extra hit which has been seemingly proccing windfurry for me on my testing. 3) Enh shamans with this build are one of the only few classes who can utilize both melee and spell caster consumables and use flask of supreme spell power (which is the only dps flask). They also fully utilize all world buffs that give a mixture of attack power, spell crit and melee crit. The only downside is that you have to have mana pots and demonic ruins at all times to keep up with the demand for mana!
And you are loved by every other rogue / warrior in your group for your enhanced windfury totem. It's not all about the shamans damage. It's also about the support. And enhancer can still put on healer gear if necessary. Not as efficient as a resto but still good.
@@zihenghe7462 numbers lied until Shedo the druid was able to prove cat dps. Not many people have tried to push the limits on enh yet... Pudgy is the only one, but his dps meters were broken to show the true potential.

That number isn't even middle tier for warrior with TAQ bis+world buff and is about half of the best warrior records.Even feral is 25% to 30% higher so why bother.

Good list, just a few things are incorrect. While feral, ret and enhance are not optimal, they are still viable, it just takes a lot more work to make thoses perform at a near level of rogues and warriors. Secondly, resto shamans cant use Nightfall well, because heals interrupt the swing timer. Also totem twisting is commonly done by enhance. Lastly 2 handers are not commonly used by warrior so ret paladins can usually snag one.
No amount of work is going to make the bad specs preform close to rogues and warriors, it's not like they have a high skill cap and a good player will make up for the spec being bad.

Skarm tank made a video claiming feral tank is best for molten core due to not being as reliable on gear as warriors and due to best threat generation until late end game raiding like nax. Maybe a reaction video on that?
All this ranking is nice and all, but don't people remember how incredibly easy the first raids were? (Going with the 2 raids mentioned here, MC and BWL) In my first MC raid back then, we had 1/3 of the raid basically afking and we still easily cleared it, we didn't care about classes or specs. Same with BWL, that one was a bit harder but we still reached Nef way before everyone had cloaks. Granted doing the same raids (and AQ40/Naxx) with people that weren't afk all the time (still no one cared about classes) was a huge difference and actually made the raids an absolute joke.
I was guild top DPS back in vanilla wow with Arms spec, pure crit build and last patches when deep wounds from multiple crits stacked, not so frequent but much more heavy hits did more overall dps that almost all fury warriors in guild.
Just want to point out that if you want totem twisting in your raid a Enhancement shaman would better suit this than a resto shaman because of the mana cost of twisting.
8:17 Feral Druid tanks beat warriors in TPS. You are mistaken. However, what warriors have over Feral is reliability to break fear. There also better AoE tanks outside of 3 mobs. They also have cooldowns where Druids don’t. They can also use items, where bears don’t have thumbs and can’t really use engineering and other neat tank consumables.
You forgot to mention that as a feral you will need to learn to powershift, without powershifting feral DPS is garbage but with powershifting it can be okay.
If you're going heavy melee (7+ rogues, 6+ warriors), one of the off tanks can use nightfall, but you can put Annihilator on a Paladin or Shaman. -600 defense is insane if more than 1/2 your raid dps is melee.
The thing is in vanilla classes weren't only taken for there dps but also utility and rolling a class just cause they presume to do top dps is just going to make it harder to get into raids cause there will be so many of that class.. when it comes down to it play what you enjoy
Dude nice video but if there is one thing I've noticed on Classic its that we've come along way, specs considered pointless or unviable Before are actually working pretty well now that people are playing them at a decent skill level. Several unviable dps and tank specs are actually functioning now that people have some 10 years of experiance. Shocking. Also, please dont make videos about stuff not released in the Classic beta yet, Private Servers are extremely unreliable :P
You can’t use the /sit exploit in raids, can you? Thought that was just for leveling/open world stuff. It guarantees you get crit proc’ing two talents, but a dps class getting crit by anything, even trash, in a raid = insta death.
Hmm they'd be competing against warriors and rogues for gear and trying to collect healing gear at same time. Similar to paladin probably forced to heal.
reece niblett ye top dps on single target short fights, warriors and rogues can keep their dps rolling meanwhile a druid will run oom from all the pwr shifting. Druids sure got nice burst if u want to farm every consume and only play wow in your free time
Warriors can do more dps than rogues but rogues can sustain dps while also keeping their aggro down. Warriors have to slow their dps to drop their aggro.
If they don't nerf fire scaling, then cloth fire rogue with blazefury, dungeon 0.5 4 piece, ironfoe, hoj and hemo spec is going to probably be top dps.
Why would a Ret paladin and a Holy paladin compete for gear? I raided as Holy all of vanilla, and we wore cloth and leather for the most part. We only got DPS gear that people who mained DPS didn't need. Ret paladins would compete with warriors, for sure.
Sorry, but you are not right. I was in a raid (on a RP server, so some people don't like respecing, because they like their character just how they imagine it), where everyone could skill as they liked. So we had Ele and Enhancment shamans, feral druids and Boomkins. We still got into Naxxramas as the second raid on the server (We also started as the second raidgroup). It's people who make a great raid. If you have knowlegde of your class, have a bit of dedication and work together methodically, specs are not that overly important anymore. You still need dedicated tanks and healers, but you can get it to work with offspecs. And it works quite good.
I don't remember people crying out for melee dps in vanilla. I remember we were always trying to find more ranged dps, mainly hunters, mages and warlocks. We could never get enough. There were many bosses with ridiculous amounts of armor (starting in UBRS) where melee was nearly useless. Warriors were dependent on their execute damage for their high dps, and the more you had, the more that had to share that damage. In raids like Onyxia, if you took too many melee dps, you were screwed, because you would never get to that last 20%! I don't know, perhaps it is all going to be so easy, it isn't going to matter what you play. But I suspect that will be for the top guilds. Most of us are not half as good as we think we are, and I suspect for the average Joe, we will be no better off than the first time around. If you are the sort of player that gets average ratings in other games like csgo, LoL, War Thunder, Overwatch or whatever you play, thinking you are going to murder WoW because all the old players didn't know what they were doing, I suspect you are in for a surprise, because we weren't that bad by the end, and a lot of us were still wiping on BWL when TBC hit, and we didn't exactly have Rags on farm.
This! I do remember warriors topping dmg meters by aq40 and start of naxx on successful kills, but most of the time i remember dead fury warriors (do no dps) because they either pull aggro or they just die from aoe dmg that range get away with alot.
These classic maniacs will one shot everything with 40 people. When it was a 40 man raid and only 20 had some idea on what they were doing and groups were killing classic raids imagine all these classic minmaxers...

I like your video. I just hope that you're not solely using the dps logs to justify your position on the class viability. For example, the one with the warrior being almost the only class even listed could be partially explained by the stigma against "hybrid" classes. In other words, they don't show up on the logs because they're not allowed to even have a chance. Side note: Warriors are a hybrid, too, so I don't accept the argument that they deserve to be the best dps in the game because they can't heal. Realistically, they're the only class that has two very powerful roles.
I think they will have a pretty good balance of classes unlike how vanilla was. Wow has been around for over a decade, surely they learned a thing or two , well I'd hope haha :D
@@DJSoulbrother not really I rolled a enhancement shaman 2h now going by statistics they weren't Top tier but I can tell you they where Hella fun when windfury procs it owns but with the lack of dps they made up in utility and that's the thing about vinilla classes are truely unique.. the hype behind vanilla is real cause the player base will be returning players that have played private servers for the past however many years it wouldn't be returning otherwise and to be honest I honestly believe it'll probably have a bigger player base the BFA
@@Shyheimz I'm talking raids, I never saw an enhanced in raids unless they tried to fool everyone that they were actually a healer, I love 2hand enhanced also and miss it especially for pvp but as a raider seeing only rogues and warriors the majority of the time is simple bad design, I miss stun mace rogues and crusader 1 hand warrs also though heh. We'll have to see, The amount of streaming going on about a beta could end up being a curse more than promotion...I did always think only wow could beat wow haha

Having 1 ret or 1 enh in your raid is a really good thing. Nobody needs 2 handed melee weapons for raiding (after MC) and those specs can actually benefit from that. Don´t know much about ret in raids because i never play alliance. Having an enh to talent improved weapon totems and wield the nightfall axe is super useful. One guy does 2 jobs that normally multiple people have to do. Like the off-tank using the axe and a special spec´d healing shaman who either rotates totems or heals in enh spec. Tho most guilds don´t even bring improved windfury at all.

There are no top parses of 2H that are better then normal fury post MC geared players! Ofc you can play it after that but it´s not the min/max spec!
For Alliance, Ret is not viable or optimal. 2H’s outside of warrior slam (which is eh) compared to fury is just PVP toys. I was a Paladin in Classic, did all the rolls including tanking for farm night and on progression for the skeletons for Nef. The reason being is because mana. They can’t spam consecration the entire time because it eats up too much mana and they don’t have sustain. Annihilator is best with your offtank, since they aren’t doing dps. Nightfall if you really want to maximize your magic damage, having a ret Paladin doesn’t have max uptime, hunters spamming rank 1 wingclip has max uptime. The only time a Paladin comes out of its shell is max end game in Naxx. You have to use all consumes, go all out and ignore a lot of instincts to do any utility to maximize your dps and have your other dps a little off for the night you can crack your top 10-5. The problem is you eat resources from the rest of the raid. We even did such a thing because we were really really far ahead with our gear on the rest of the server. On farm night when we AoE’d everything, my holy/Prot pally out dps’s Our retribution with Ashkandi. We did Cthun but we did not get super far into Naxx. If you’re looking for utility, Druid. If you’re looking for specialization dps rogue. If you want to specialize with the option to tank, warrior. Again this is only for Alliance. Never raided with shamans.
Highly incorrect and based on private server data! I played a rogue back in vanilla and sword rogues weren’t even a thing back then (at least until AQ40/Naxxramas)! Every serious rogue PvE player was dagger specced. Backstabbing was the way to go, not swords. Dagger rogues also were the highest DPS class, with much higher DPS than warriors and easily 20-30 % more damage than sword rogues. These private server dudes give out so much misinformation to people that want to play wow classic...
I was a dagger specc'd rogue in vanilla, your comment was also my experience. I laugh when youtubers use private servers to justify fury warriors as viable DPS specs. If blizzard has the original 1.12 build then there are going to be a lot of butt-hurt warriors.

Blizz doesn’t need beta testing, they HAVE the 1.12 code! The last several WoW expansions have tanked and Blizzard is on the verge of bankrupting their name because they transitioned from a company who makes games they want to play to a company who plays people they want to game.

I tried warrior and paladin in the classic demo from blizzcon last year, they are really boring to play at low levels, so few buttons to push you're mostly just autoattacking :(
Warrior is very very gear based, the most gear based class in the game. You are a meme in terms of dps when you ding 60, you have to be lucky with loot and not bring idiot hunters and "ret paladins" with you to UBRS, BRD and so on.
the moral of the story is, don't pick a hybrid class unless you are ok with healing in raids. sure there could be some lax and easy going guilds that could let you do dps, but in general no, because everyone is a min-maxer raider. gl hf, and play whatever you want to play because at the end of the day, top dps or top healing etc isn't going to make you happy, playing the class you like is.
Rogues r better in early vanilla, on p servers ppl usually roll rogues first and lvl/gear a warrior alt to play when AQ releases Paladin/druid/priest are the hardest classes to lvl cus you will get bored and reroll a hunter or a lock
I think I am going to go with rogue. With 20+ warriors in a raid good luck getting gear at a reasonable rate, especially since the tanks are going to also be warriors.

Locks and mages are mid / mid low pack in BFA. rogues are still good. You have to remember that most other classes have an alternative spec that they can fill a different role in (heals / tank ). These classes are pure DPS. They should be slightly better at DPS in my opinion

It’s not the nostalgia that’ll keep players on Classic. Vanilla WoW is strictly a better MMORPG than BFA. Meaningful character progression, a game world that actually pushes players to cooperate, generally more difficult content... People are hyped for Classic because it’s still the best MMORPG ever made, 15 years after it launched.
I wish they would stop calling this private server crap classic. I played real vanilla and I can tell you by no means were warriors ever top dps. And I played one.

I switched to rogue from warrior and I really enjoy it

There isnt really that big competition on 2handed weapons. No warrior use arms in raids and hunters are just nightfall wielder or use those for stat.

If you're going heavy melee (7+ rogues, 6+ warriors), one of the off tanks can use nightfall, but you can put Annihilator on a Paladin or Shaman. -600 defense is insane if more than 1/2 your raid dps is melee.
He means armor. Not defense. Heavy melee early isn’t bad, they scale better earlier.
You're making a mistake. Seal of command isn't used in pve and neither are 2 hands for ret paladins.
The thing is in vanilla classes weren't only taken for there dps but also utility and rolling a class just cause they presume to do top dps is just going to make it harder to get into raids cause there will be so many of that class.. when it comes down to it play what you enjoy
Dude nice video but if there is one thing I've noticed on Classic its that we've come along way, specs considered pointless or unviable Before are actually working pretty well now that people are playing them at a decent skill level.
Several unviable dps and tank specs are actually functioning now that people have some 10 years of experiance. Shocking.

You can’t use the /sit exploit in raids, can you? Thought that was just for leveling/open world stuff. It guarantees you get crit proc’ing two talents, but a dps class getting crit by anything, even trash, in a raid = insta death.
/sit wasn’t a thing for raids, if a boss hits you when you /sit then you’re dead. Straight up.

That’s the thing, most of their gear outside of trinket/rings isn’t really geared towards fury or rogues.

Warriors can do more dps than rogues but rogues can sustain dps while also keeping their aggro down. Warriors have to slow their dps to drop their aggro.
If they don't nerf fire scaling, then cloth fire rogue with blazefury, dungeon 0.5 4 piece, ironfoe, hoj and hemo spec is going to probably be top dps.
This is not going to be some bullshit private server script , rogue won't be topping warriors
Why would a Ret paladin and a Holy paladin compete for gear? I raided as Holy all of vanilla, and we wore cloth and leather for the most part. We only got DPS gear that people who mained DPS didn't need.

Sorry, but you are not right. I was in a raid (on a RP server, so some people don't like respecing, because they like their character just how they imagine it), where everyone could skill as they liked. So we had Ele and Enhancment shamans, feral druids and Boomkins. We still got into Naxxramas as the second raid on the server (We also started as the second raidgroup).
It's people who make a great raid. If you have knowlegde of your class, have a bit of dedication and work together methodically, specs are not that overly important anymore. You still need dedicated tanks and healers, but you can get it to work with offspecs. And it works quite good.
I don't remember people crying out for melee dps in vanilla. I remember we were always trying to find more ranged dps, mainly hunters, mages and warlocks. We could never get enough. There were many bosses with ridiculous amounts of armor (starting in UBRS) where melee was nearly useless.
Warriors were dependent on their execute damage for their high dps, and the more you had, the more that had to share that damage. In raids like Onyxia, if you took too many melee dps, you were screwed, because you would never get to that last 20%!
I don't know, perhaps it is all going to be so easy, it isn't going to matter what you play. But I suspect that will be for the top guilds. Most of us are not half as good as we think we are, and I suspect for the average Joe, we will be no better off than the first time around.
If you are the sort of player that gets average ratings in other games like csgo, LoL, War Thunder, Overwatch or whatever you play, thinking you are going to murder WoW because all the old players didn't know what they were doing, I suspect you are in for a surprise, because we weren't that bad by the end, and a lot of us were still wiping on BWL when TBC hit, and we didn't exactly have Rags on farm.
This! I do remember warriors topping dmg meters by aq40 and start of naxx on successful kills, but most of the time i remember dead fury warriors (do no dps) because they either pull aggro or they just die from aoe dmg that range get away with alot.
Fury warriors have no built-in threat modifier, rogues or kitties (0.8) not to mention heroic strike vs vanish/feint/cower.
These classic maniacs will one shot everything with 40 people.
When it was a 40 man raid and only 20 had some idea on what they were doing and groups were killing classic raids imagine all these classic minmaxers...

I like your video. I just hope that you're not solely using the dps logs to justify your position on the class viability. For example, the one with the warrior being almost the only class even listed could be partially explained by the stigma against "hybrid" classes. In other words, they don't show up on the logs because they're not allowed to even have a chance. Side note: Warriors are a hybrid, too, so I don't accept the argument that they deserve to be the best dps in the game because they can't heal. Realistically, they're the only class that has two very powerful roles.
I think they will have a pretty good balance of classes unlike how vanilla was. Wow has been around for over a decade, surely they learned a thing or two , well I'd hope haha :D

@@DJSoulbrother not really I rolled a enhancement shaman 2h now going by statistics they weren't Top tier but I can tell you they where Hella fun when windfury procs it owns but with the lack of dps they made up in utility and that's the thing about vinilla classes are truely unique.. the hype behind vanilla is real cause the player base will be returning players that have played private servers for the past however many years it wouldn't be returning otherwise and to be honest I honestly believe it'll probably have a bigger player base the BFA
@@Shyheimz I'm talking raids, I never saw an enhanced in raids unless they tried to fool everyone that they were actually a healer, I love 2hand enhanced also and miss it especially for pvp but as a raider seeing only rogues and warriors the majority of the time is simple bad design, I miss stun mace rogues and crusader 1 hand warrs also though heh. We'll have to see, The amount of streaming going on about a beta could end up being a curse more than promotion...I did always think only wow could beat wow haha

I almost laughed at this one when i saw it was melee only, Rogue or Warrior that's it. I'll save some time on caster, Mage or Lock done.
Having 1 ret or 1 enh in your raid is a really good thing. Nobody needs 2 handed melee weapons for raiding (after MC) and those specs can actually benefit from that. Don´t know much about ret in raids because i never play alliance.
Having an enh to talent improved weapon totems and wield the nightfall axe is super useful. One guy does 2 jobs that normally multiple people have to do. Like the off-tank using the axe and a special spec´d healing shaman who either rotates totems or heals in enh spec. Tho most guilds don´t even bring improved windfury at all.
Wrong, 2H Fury is actually bis with BRE on Horde because of windfury. Hunter also is best nightfall bot.
@@Mr91Jmay You should read the comment before you shit on people. I said after MC no major melee dps specs use 2H weapons which is a fact (in PvE ofc)! There are no top parses of 2H that are better then normal fury post MC geared players!

For Alliance, Ret is not viable or optimal. 2H’s outside of warrior slam (which is eh) compared to fury is just PVP toys.
I was a Paladin in Classic, did all the rolls including tanking for farm night and on progression for the skeletons for Nef. The reason being is because mana. They can’t spam consecration the entire time because it eats up too much mana and they don’t have sustain. Annihilator is best with your offtank, since they aren’t doing dps. Nightfall if you really want to maximize your magic damage, having a ret Paladin doesn’t have max uptime, hunters spamming rank 1 wingclip has max uptime.
The only time a Paladin comes out of its shell is max end game in Naxx. You have to use all consumes, go all out and ignore a lot of instincts to do any utility to maximize your dps and have your other dps a little off for the night you can crack your top 10-5. The problem is you eat resources from the rest of the raid.
We even did such a thing because we were really really far ahead with our gear on the rest of the server. On farm night when we AoE’d everything, my holy/Prot pally out dps’s Our retribution with Ashkandi. We did Cthun but we did not get super far into Naxx.
If you’re looking for utility, Druid. If you’re looking for specialization dps rogue. If you want to specialize with the option to tank, warrior.
Again this is only for Alliance. Never raided with shamans.

Highly incorrect and based on private server data! I played a rogue back in vanilla and sword rogues weren’t even a thing back then (at least until AQ40/Naxxramas)! Every serious rogue PvE player was dagger specced. Backstabbing was the way to go, not swords. Dagger rogues also were the highest DPS class, with much higher DPS than warriors and easily 20-30 % more damage than sword rogues.
These private server dudes give out so much misinformation to people that want to play wow classic...
I was a dagger specc'd rogue in vanilla, your comment was also my experience. I laugh when youtubers use private servers to justify fury warriors as viable DPS specs. If blizzard has the original 1.12 build then there are going to be a lot of butt-hurt warriors.

If Blizzard bringing any new mechanics raid for MC,BWL,AQ, or Nax for classic players to spice things up. then going min maxing and going for that world first or server first is more rewarding. but if not.. people will just go thurs raid progression much quicker classic than in actual vanilla.

Jayson Bernardo right you are, my man! As you said it doesn’t make sense that blizzard allows ‘Tubers to play Beta while restricting serious gamers. But it does if you think about it: Publicity. Blizz doesn’t need beta testing, they HAVE the 1.12 code! The last several WoW expansions have tanked and Blizzard is on the verge of bankrupting their name because they transitioned from a company who makes games they want to play to a company who plays people they want to game.

I tried warrior and paladin in the classic demo from blizzcon last year, they are really boring to play at low levels, so few buttons to push you're mostly just autoattacking :(

Warrior is very very gear based, the most gear based class in the game. You are a meme in terms of dps when you ding 60, you have to be lucky with loot and not bring idiot hunters and "ret paladins" with you to UBRS, BRD and so on.
the moral of the story is, don't pick a hybrid class unless you are ok with healing in raids.
sure there could be some lax and easy going guilds that could let you do dps, but in general no, because everyone is a min-maxer raider.
gl hf, and play whatever you want to play because at the end of the day, top dps or top healing etc isn't going to make you happy, playing the class you like is.
Rogues r better in early vanilla, on p servers ppl usually roll rogues first and lvl/gear a warrior alt to play when AQ releases
Paladin/druid/priest are the hardest classes to lvl cus you will get bored and reroll a hunter or a lock

I think I am going to go with rogue. With 20+ warriors in a raid good luck getting gear at a reasonable rate, especially since the tanks are going to also be warriors.
Keep in mind, daggers can be BiS at some point for warriors depending on race.

Locks and mages are mid / mid low pack in BFA. rogues are still good. You have to remember that most other classes have an alternative spec that they can fill a different role in (heals / tank ). These classes are pure DPS. They should be slightly better at DPS in my opinion

@@dhoff82 a few 2hs might go to hunters, But arms warriors are not viable and enhshamans are horde only thus not competing with ret paladins. ( I know many consider ret paladins non-viable too)
