Fun fact: this creation of Toei Spider-Man led the creation of Super Sentai Series. Which also led being aried over in US in later years as Power Rangers. Without Spider-Man, we may never had Power Rangers being existed. So lets thank Spider-Man for giving us this and inspiration.
Well technically, Super sentai existed prior with Himitsu Sentai Goranger and JAKQ Dengekitai. However spider-man was the show that introduced huge robots as something to include for the next super sentai show, Battle Fever J
+William Hertel That alone entices me to read Spider-verse, because I'd love to see how this Spiderman interacts with his American counter parts. Especially since he pilots a giant mech. xD
First Power Ranger! 70s Spiderman is what kicked off the Super Sentai genre. Seriously, Stan Lee made a sweetheart deal with Toei in the 70s because he respected how good they were at extracting money from 12 year olds. The two companies could use each other's properties however they wanted for 3 years. Toei chose to make a Spider-Man TV show (and other, less direct stuff), Marvel used some of Toei's giant robots for their Shogun Warriors comics.
"Why do you, Why do you.. ..choose to continue to fight risking your own life? With only one goal, with only one goal.. The Invincible Man, Spider Man" I love that part, it shows the struggles of spider man and the roots of his character
Watching No Way Home realizing Takuya Yamashiro only waiting to appear in MCU and this guy is likely the strongest and 'resourceful' version of Spider-Man.. if the guardian of the multiverse want to fight Kang next.. they better bring this Spider-Man along
@@chepelapodgaming4072 well technically, you could call it the first Megazord because Leopardon is pretty much the reason we had Megazords to begin with. Without the Success of Toei's Spider-Man and Leopardon, there wouldn't a Battle Fever Robo or any other Robo in Super Sentai. Heck, without it, Super Sentai (or just Sentai like it was known in the time) would have ended at JAKQ, because the franchise was cancelled after it and only because of Toei's Spider-man did they bring it back as Super Sentai
Am I the only one addicted to this song? Also, I love how this show impacted Super Sentai, which in turn affected Power Rangers 15 years later. I would've loved more Marvel and Toei collaborations.
technically they had others, since Battle Fever J, Denjiman and Sun Vulcan are all Toei and Marvel Co-productions but yeah it would be cool to see another Marvel hero adapted by Toei.
@@DarkAnon100 Battle Fever J was originally a Captain America show, but they wanted to have a team of State-themed superheroes. IDK what happened, but I think Marvel said no, so they made Battle Fever J instead. This is why it was counted as the first Super Sentai for a while, because Super Sentai was supposed to mean SUPERhero Sentai. It's also why the suits aren't standard Sentai suits.
"Why do you continue to fight, risking your own life?" I was half expecting Supaidaman to be looking into the sunset atop of a roof, manly tears rolling off his mask's eyes at that part of the song.
Had to come here after Toei Spidey was announced for Spider-Verse 2. We finally get to see Leopardon and all his glory on the big screen in a few years. Life is good.
They said "Tobey Maguire is the best Spider-Man" And somebody said "Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man" But deep inside of my heart "This is the best Spider-Man"
R.I.P. Stan Lee, if it weren’t for Marvel, we would never have gotten this series and to an extent, Super Sentai would be forever lost to the sands of time! Thank you Stan!
And also fun fact, before Saban imported Super Sentai to create PR, Stan Lee did try to import the series here, to be precise, he tried to bring Sun Vulcan but it unfortunately never happened
@@muhammadadamdarwish5375well it's true and false, from a certain point of view. Super Sentai still existing is because of Spider-Man. The franchise was officially cancelled after JAKQ Dengeki Tai, but the success of Spider-Man and of Leopardon led to Toei bringing back Super Sentai and incorporating Humanoid Mechas in the mix. So yeah, while SS did exist before Spider-Man, it's not false either to say that the series still exist today because of Spider-Man
Here's a funny part...this is the series that introduces Mecha to Tokusatsu shows. The first two Sentai series, Goranger and JAKQ has more in common with Gatchaman than the Sentai we knew today.
I'm pretty sure every Marvel related media is considered canon by them since it all takes place in their Multiverse even if they dont acknowledge it directly themselves.
2 sides of what makes Peter so great: American theme - fun and cheerful (He *GETS* to be Spider-Man) Japanese version - serious and existential: (He *HAS* to be Spider-Man)
Nice analysis! I’ve noticed besides the obvious campiness that this show was in fact deadly serious at times. Especially when Doctor Yamashiro died. This is a great Toku show in my opinion.
The funny thing is that it's usually the opposite. American versions of theme songs of Japanese shows tend to be more serious, like the original Pokemon anime. It's also the same story with game box art, where Japanese box art tends to be more cute and artistic, the American version was almost always more serious and action-packed. Like Kirby always had to be angry. Thankfully, Kirby doesn't have to be so mad all the time in America anymore, now that Americans have finally seen the light and appreciate Kawaii culture. The best part about Toei Spider-Man is that you can really see how Japanese it is. The Japanese like their shows campy, and they do campy the right way. With heartfelt sincerity. Which is why a lot of Japanese IPs are so damn loveable. They know they're ridiculous half the time, but they just own it. That's the difference between your Metal Gears and your Splinter Cells. Unfortunately, Western media has succumbed to the vile trend of insincerity. Now everything has to be post-ironic meta humor. There's not an ounce of sincerity anymore for fear of seeming too campy. Which to me makes the end product actually worse. I like campy stories, thank you very much. You can see this difference by comparing the writing of a Western developed JRPG - Sea of Stars, to the writing of an Eastern developed JRPG - the Dragon Quest series. Sea of Stars almost seems afraid to take itself seriously, with one character constantly pointing out JRPG tropes as a meta joke. On the other hand, the Dragon Quest series has a lot of JRPG tropes (being THE JRPG) and leans into them heavily, but never seems insincere in its presentation. It knows what it is, and it's sincerely and unapologetically proud to be itself. Which is why I enjoyed my time with DQXI far more than my time with Sea of Stars. I mean, people love JRPGs because of all their tropes. You don't need to point and laugh at them as if it somehow makes you "quirky" and "unique". Eastern media even knows how to tell great stories with ridiculous and absurd settings, concepts, and characters. Blue Archive is a Korean made game based entirely around the ridiculous concept of high schools being nation states and armed bulletproof girls duking it out with guns, but somehow manages to tell a very heartwarming, inspirational, and at many points high-stakes and serious story. And that's not even mentioning the plethora of Japanese media based around similarly absurd concepts like Evangelion, where teenagers for some reason pilot gigantic mecha. You can be campy and take yourself seriously at the same time, but Western writers seem to have forgotten this.
This was a pretty decent spider man suit for it's time from my understanding I'm pretty sure they also would change spidey's mask to show his various expressions
Therefore Spider-Man was actually the first to control a MegaZord/Giant Robo before Super Sentai and Power Rangers (until Battle Fever J and Mighty Morphin')
They actually got the idea for it from this if I recall correctly. They saw that people liked the giant robot in spiderman and stuck it in the Japanese version of power rangers, which down the line got adapted into the American show. TL:DR Spiderman is the reason megazords exist.
I remember watching this as a kid, when my mom was working, this was on Marvels kid website and I never understood what they were saying but I loved it
My pal showed me this intro when we were 9yo. Then, it was the funniest thing in existence, we've milked it for years, but now? It's even better, like fine wine.

Spiderman: Best Power Ranger
First Power Ranger! 70s Spiderman is what kicked off the Super Sentai genre.
Seriously, Stan Lee made a sweetheart deal with Toei in the 70s because he respected how good they were at extracting money from 12 year olds. The two companies could use each other's properties however they wanted for 3 years. Toei chose to make a Spider-Man TV show (and other, less direct stuff), Marvel used some of Toei's giant robots for their Shogun Warriors comics.

@@muhammadadamdarwish5375well it's true and false, from a certain point of view. Super Sentai still existing is because of Spider-Man. I'm pretty sure every Marvel related media is considered canon by them since it all takes place in their Multiverse even if they dont acknowledge it directly themselves.
2 sides of what makes Peter so great:
American theme - fun and cheerful (He *GETS* to be Spider-Man)
Japanese version - serious and existential: (He *HAS* to be Spider-Man)
Nice analysis! I’ve noticed besides the obvious campiness that this show was in fact deadly serious at times. Especially when Doctor Yamashiro died. This is a great Toku show in my opinion.
@@youngdiversity9860 i mean there are at least one or a few character deaths each in most of the episodes. So...
Except this Japanese version is Takuya. The one similar to Peter is Yu Komori.
This was a pretty decent spider man suit for it's time
from my understanding I'm pretty sure they also would change spidey's mask to show his various expressions
What??? They have a bloody megazord for spiderman???
Yes sir.
