I pretty much agree with all your criticisms, but like you mentioned, my investment into the story and characters, along with the somber and sad tone, keeps me coming back and remembering this game fondly. And my experience with the game's combat has taught me a few things: Biggest DPS in the game is slow-timed electric dance. Earth pound attack is great for when you're surrounded by a swarm and in the air. On a similar note, the Ice secondary is great on the ground. Level 3 Fire missiles are very cheap and great for long range. The fire charge is good for moving position. Unfortunately, the lack of any real dodging or blocking doesn't solve the stun lock problem. Still the biggest problem with the combat.
I say this game is the weakest in the Trilogy. It's not a bad game and I still love it, but it feels more like a extension to the first game then a actual sequel. The game's difficulty and dark tone feels it it is continuing directly from the dark tone of Cynder's Fortress at the end of the first game.
"Tweedle Need some sleep" Well in his defense he was awaken in the middle of the nignt and falls asleep 4 times in the game, so maybe he IS half asleep.
The most emotional moment ever in Spyro was actually the ending of this game for me and not Dawn of the Dragon. I still cringe every time I think of that last scene (and I don't see cringy as a bad thing, it shows that something has made such a strong impact on you that you don't want to think about it). After trying so hard to defy the chronicler it was really tough to admit that he was right and that Spyro truly is powerless to what's to come and the only choice he has is to preserve himself. Yet it still was a good decision as he would have fallen to darkness or been killed later without Cynder by his side.
Besides the frustrating difficulty at times, the game’s *other* huge flaw is how *LONG* the levels are! I *love* this game but I can definitely see why people aren’t too keen. 👌
Haven't touched this game in over 4 years, but I agree that at some point in this game, I was invested in the characters. However, I still think the game is ass. I remember enemies being able to hit you while in knocback, and that's gay. It was especially annoying in the pirate ship. Legitemately hate that level because of the unending combat.
I fully agree with you on this one. Believe it or not the Legend trilogy was actually the first time I had ever been introduced to Spyro. Well, I knew about him, but I never played any of the games. I DESPISE the pirate ship level. It overstays its welcome, doesn't really do anything original, and FUCK THE BLUNDERTAILS (keep in mind I don't swear often. That's how much I HATE them. The story is at least decent especially when fitting in with the plot of A New Beginning, and I can honestly believe that the additional difficulty is literally Malefor now knowing that spyro is a legitimate threat, compared to A New Beginning where he didn't think a young dragon could be that big of a problem. Also once you complete the game you can then do four additional arena-style challenges, and clearing all four of them grants yo uthe use of Dark Spyro throughout the whole game. Worth it because it makes the game a lot more fun and easy. Still bullshit in some parts, but so satisfying.
I can't help but Wonder about Spyro and where he's going to end up next hopefully where he be left alone rest for him to come back up again in another generation
The platforming wasn’t that hard actually, it was manly getting stuck on the overwhelming amounts of enemies, getting stuck on where to go, the elemental gates where you can only use on element, and some of the bosses like the elemental guardians, executioner, blunder tails(which took longer than normal because for some reason the game never told us to ground pound the blunder tails when you beat them), the pirate captain, and the final boss ghoul.
I don't know specifics, basically anything with repeated footage or borrowed footage, mostly because my hardrive crashed in october last year and I would have had to play the entire game over again to get the needed footage, and quite frankly, fuck that.

It took me and my friend over 22 HOURS to beat this game, AND THAT WAS WITH THE DARK SPYRO CHEAT CODE!!!

This was my first spyro game...i got stuck in a boss with a snail , got bored with it returned it and never rented it again
