Happy birthday Spyro, also on that note, in the second of 3 remasterings before my season finale, is the game considered by the fans "the best in the series" really a perfect gem(teehee) or are their skeletons in the closet that nobody's willing to call the cops about(boy that was a terrible metaphor) let's find out

At the beginning of each hub world , you see the banners implying that he wants to take over avalar as its leader.
Let's not forget how the alchemist minigame makes you do it all over again if you don't have headsmash unlocked by the time you start it. Once you get the alchemist to Hunter there's having to do the task of taking out the rock golems with headsmash. You get headsmash in the world after this level so you have to come back there, where Hunter is now stuck in stone again, and escort the alchemist all over again. The learning of abilities in Spyro 2 kinda kills it for me.
I like to think Ripto's takeover was small and no one cared a whole lot. Most conflicts Spyro resolves in the worlds are unrelated to Ripto's takeover. It's like they didn't really even notice him. Fitting for his character. He's short and insignificant.
19:07 Ripto does actually have a goal. He states that he wants to rule Avalar. Remember his line:
"Say hello to your new KING."
Out of the three villains of the Spyro Trilogy, Ripto is my favourite, but that's not to say that I disagree with this review. The main reason I preferred him over Gnasty Gnorc or the Sorceress was because he actually had a presence in the game and a dynamic with Spyro.
But now that you mention it, his motives are never really explained. At worst, he's a squatter whom Spyro has to evict (or kill).

Also, I agree with the difficulty part. Spyro 2 has plenty of bullshit missions, where as 3 had maybe 2 or 3.
Sound glitches are often the result of PS3 emulation. I did an experiment where I played one cutscene on both PS3 and PS1 and the 3 had audio skips and repeats while the 1 didn't.
For example, the PS3 eventually had a loud beep with Elora saying "keep track of your running shoes" billion times.

(The original) Spyro is my favorite game series ever, and I love your reviews of them!! Your comments are funny, I agree with your observations, and overall it just makes me feel happy and now I have a strong need to spend tomorrow in front of the Playstation. Also, Autumn Plains is THE SUPER BEST. I can spend an hour just walking around taking it all in.
Also the going through the level borders thing it's something that you have to go out of your way to do

Also the sound glitches are probably because of your copy, my copy is super scratched up and some of these issues happen
when you love spyro but discovers that the main villain of skylanders is more well build than the most beloved spyro villain

Personally, I think the second one is the weakest. The way the first played out with its lack of story felt more like a spiritual journey, in a way. Everything was absolutely beautiful, it was the single most beautiful game I've ever played. I know that that sounds really stupid and pretentious, but that's the only way I can describe it. It's aesthetically perfect. The third felt like the most complete game, not the most beautiful one, but the most fun to play, and has the best story. The second kind of just feels like a slump of both. The levels aren't that beautiful, and the gameplay isn't as fulfilling as the third. That being said, it's definately got the most memorable hubworlds, especially autumn plains.
That castle, man.
I was born without arms and beat this game in 2 hours at the age of six, mate, not to mention i was in the middle of a two-year coma, so it's not that hard.
The flaw that puts Spyro 2 over Spyro 3 for a lot of people is the new characters.
I play Spyro to play as Spyro, not side characters with bad controls.
