You have to clean the grease off each time you use it or you will get those stains, and the more you cook with them the harder they are to get off later. Bar Keepers Friend works really well for the tough stains.

I clean my Ninja Foodi after every use, dump the tray, a quick wipe down, job done. I'm careful with lining the tray with foil to make cleanup easier. I love the thing. It doesn't take a ton of counter space. It makes everything I need it to, and it's easy to use. I'm going to go make some pizza bread in the thing right now. Much love. I'm glad I chose it over other models.

I've had a similar issue with the Ninja Air Fryer...no matter if we cleaned or wiped it down once cooled, the stains are there. The grease will leak underneath the cookie sheet making it sticky...the things cook food well but it's the most difficult product to clean.

You're not the only one with this problem. The toaster oven/airfryer small appliances all have the same problem. I have the larger one that flips up, & I clean it, but it never gets as clean as I want it to. I've had a few different brands, same problem.

I use aluminum foil in the black baking pan and also on the crumb tray. I have had no issues and mine is still very clean. I do not have to heat up my big oven for pizza and chicken. Starts cooking right away. Best purchase I have ever made. Got it from Kohls. 30% off. And kohl’s cash. I paid $120. They is sell them. $200 regular price. Definitely worth it!

We just got ours a couple of weeks ago. I have cleaned it well after every use. Dish soap and water in the sink, Haven't cooked anything really greasy yet (i.e. bacon). One thing I found is that if you flip it up, you can remove the crumb tray and clean it. So far, it all has cleaned up nice but it is a bit of an effort to get food caught in the air fryer basket. No discoloration yet, but I've only had it a couple of weeks. Lol, I'm still learning how to use it.

Unfortunately, any toaster oven or countertop oven (at least the ones I have seen) are impossible to clean well after cooking something greasy. They do not have an enameled surface inside like a tradition kitchen oven, so you cannot use oven sprays to clean them. The grease bakes on and sticks to the metal inside permanently discoloring them.

Not if you clean it each time you use it. Use dish soap and a scrubby type sponge. A diluted vinegar spray works well too. Soak or let sit with a vinegar spray and then wash.

We purchased the new Ninja Foodie model 651 and take great care to clean thoroughly after each use. With only 2 months of almost daily use it has buildup on the grill only which cannot be removed. Ninja customer service instructed me and on a video call I demonstrated using their method using exactly the cleaning agent etc.. They sent me a new grill section free of charges. After receiving the replacement unit we experimented on the original grill, which looked like the devil had worked it over, using some unapproved cleaners. Still we used no metal scrapers. Bar Keepers Friend for Cookware has given the best results with using a kitchen sponge or a terrycloth rag. The interior of our unit still looks almost new with only the use of Dawn dish liquid and a sponge or terrycloth rag. We are ultra diligent to thoroughly clean all cleaners from the unit before the next use and really love cooking with it almost daily.

Hey sorry to hear about all the obstacles, but hope to provide some insight and helpful tips for future units, kind of regardless of which kind they are. Most don't encourage using foil as an option for a drip or in such a small area. It can actually be a fire hazard. It also can cause problems with your unit because of the melting and smoke that occurs from that. Can happen just from simple drips like barbecue sauce vinegar you name it. I will typically use parchment in mine only for the purpose of lining. I get it where you talk about the great being a little bit of a hassle to clean, but I use the bottom tray set the other in it and let them soak for a few and then I turn it over and use my hard bristle brush to clean through the stubborn pieces. I will then run it through my dishwasher once it's more on the clean side. I did notice that what can happen in these units is oil thresholds of temperature. Olive oil is a huge culprit to causing smoke as well as leaving your trail looking like crap.
I have had my unit for about 5 years ago, mine doesn't have reheat or dehydrate, but all the others.
I go old school when it comes to cleaning those things. I don't put heavy chemicals, even if it seems like an oven cleaner would be okay typically will do just what you had happen unfortunately. Lastly, I have a feeling there may have been what equals a welding occur in your unit which in this case has put your crumb tray on lockdown permanently. I would trash that as soon as you can. Hope the advice is helpful for your future use is on these. They are definitely their own animal, and just have to use some different than you would a bigger oven, even though there's some pretty good space in there. Good luck.

I did not purchase the ninga xl. Did major research and watched many video reviews. One from a chef who LOVED IT, the sp101. I purchased the SP101 different digital look. The XL seems to have problems. Also 101 opens in back to clean. Follow enclosed booklet to maintain. Every appliance needs to be maintained or they turn to junk. So far, I really love it and have more counter space to boot. I will not cook greasy foods in mine though. I will be mindful of the issues that can cause any toaster oven or a regular stove oven to be tuff to clean. Every kithen appliance small or large must be maintained to enjoy the cooking experience. I love to cook and love my kitchen stuff. Lol

In regards to the crumb tray issues:
I know that this video is old and you have already replaced this appliance, but I may have he answer to your crumb tray issue. The crumb trays in toaster ovens are located on the floor (bottom) of the oven. Some are even underneath it like a regular toaster. This is a safety feature because there needs to be distance between the fallen crumbs, food, and grease and the heating element to prevent fires.
Your video shows the crumb tray inserted higher and directly under the heating element. Perhaps at some point, someone in your household pulled it out to clean and then put it back in the wrong place. Just being in the wrong position will make it difficult to get in and out. In addition, being in contact with the heating element will warp the tray or even melt it depending on what it's made of. It may have been essentially welded in place.

Ninja Foodi XL Grill did me wrong as well. Easy to clean, and cooks excellent. 1 day before my 1 year with it the lid stopped working. Stopped working altogether because it would say close lid, so it wouldn't even warm up under any setting. Found a hack to fix it that worked for the next 2 cooks and it did it again. and couldn't fix it. Try getting in contact with customer service before you buy one! Good luck with that. No email support you have to phone them and maybe it was a bad day but after an hour on hold and every 30 seconds being told my call was important I gave up. It was almost $500 so for 1 year and it looked almost brand new I was a bit upset. Beware of Ninja products.

This was a great review. You clearly say you tried alternatives because you couldn't get the drip pan out. And the main pan had weird staining before you tried different things to clean it.
Did it say not to cook directly on the pan, and to use parchment paper? If not then the idea is that the pan should hold up to cooking in it.
I hope when you disposed of this no one tried to take it and use it. In my neighborhood I can put out anything and folk will take it. If it has chemical toxicity, in this way, I would put a note on it. Since people throw out good stuff it can be a find to take something someone has thrown out, but in this case no. So hopefully it was deep in the trash when you threw it out! Anyway, the vid is helpful.

I agree the inside of the oven is definitely difficult to clean I have the bigger version (DT2501 I think) so it's a bit easier to get inside it. But the inside of the oven is definitely not easy to clean. (No I don't clean it every time I use it and I doubt 90% of people do!). That baking tray is next to useless and I only use it for very light duty with either parchment paper or Aluminum foil covering it. Mine was looking pretty bad though and I didn't want to use oven cleaner or anything else quite so drastic on it. I scoured RUclips for possible solutions and found / came up with a solution that consists of 1/4 Cup White Vinegar, 1/2 Cup Dawn Dish Soap, 1 1/2 Cup Baking Soda to make a cleaning paste. I put that on it and covered with plastic wrap and left it overnight. About 80% of the crud came off by wiping it down and after several rinses I had a very useable oven again. I also put some sort of black mat over the crumb tray (Which bends if you look at it too hard and is also next to impossible to clean), and that has helped a lot with keeping that clean. The cleaning solution and technic was the result of 2 RUclips videos I watched which are here: 1. ruclips.net/video/0Is5SY3x3x0/видео.html and here 2. ruclips.net/video/SPzglQVCYuY/видео.html Hope that helps someone else.

Hey I like you review. Everything you said it the same reason I got. I have the same problem. Cleaning this little air fryer is a pain. You right after I clean my and try to cook with it again. It start to smoke. From reading everyone else comments. Everyone is right. You need to clean right away. I think that would be another pro to add a pain to clean. Great product but suck a pain to clean.

I just bought this.... Took a long time to decide what to get because air frying is all so new to me & wasn't sure I wanted one. But this was on sale at Costco & I decided to take a chance.... I've been watching a lot of videos to learn how to use it & what to cook. I decided to avoid cooking anything that will splatter & can cook in a frying pan instead because it does look bothersome to clean! Since there's a 1 yr warrenty & it was fairly inexpensive, I'm not going to worry about it. But I really appreciate all the pros & cons people are sharing!

I bought a used one and had to spray it with Zep Air fryer cleaner and let it sit. Then after scrubbing it, abd letting it drain, i sprayed with water and vinegar to get the cleaner out. It was a lot of work. And cleaning it every time is a pain. I wish Ninja kept the flip down underside on All of the models.

No problems, no sticking trays, easy to clean the basket because I clean it after every use. The ONLY fault I found that when you air fry, the drippings go into the heat grid and cause a good deal of smoke. Otherwise this things 100 percent

I have one of the small ninja airfryers with the deep basket.
Easier to clean, just throw a 1/8 cup of dawn in some hot faucet water into the deep basket and turn on for 5 minutes.
    Easy dump & wipe out.
Unfortunately, it only takes 1 steak or 1/2 package of bacon , 8 chicken wings a time.
    I’m single it fine.

Love air fryers but it takes a lot of time cleaning them. Every single day that I use them I clean everything perfectly. I have the NInja Speedie, Ninja Foodie and gave one away was a Ninja as well(forgot the model). But in the Ninja Speedie I can reach the whole fan for cleaning. But I hate cleaning these parts. You used to clean all the parts and areas every time you would use it? The reason I am asking is because most people only clean some of the areas and parts after usage. Then they expect to see all disappear on one cleaning.

Ditto. I bought the dual heat model.....like this one but has a top and bottom heating element. Instead of a pan, mine came with a nice teflon coated grill type plate....that is very easy to clean. I loved the fryer until I cooked chicken wings in it. Grease splattered all over the inside and all over the heating elements. The oven is very shallow, so it is hard to get in and clean it very well and there is no way to clean the grease off the heating elements. I cleaned all the grease out of the oven after each use but it would leak grease onto my counter anyway. It leaked whether it was in the flipped up position or not. Only thing I can figure is that somehow grease splatter gets sucked up into the exhaust fan and out the back of the unit. This oven is great if you use it to toast or bake or to cook frozen fries or chicken nuggets and the like. Not so good for cooking anything that splatters grease. The food comes out great, but the mess is horrible. Luckily, I purchased mine on my credit card which doubled my warranty to two years. So I am getting a replacement. I like the Ninja brand, this time I am going to get either the single flex drawer model or the two basket model which are teflon coated and much easier to clean.

Weird. I have the original model and haven't had problems with it to this degree. My oven's crumb tray is a little warped now from perhaps too vigorous cleaning, but I can still get it in and out alright. I did run into the oozing problem, but yeah, if you clean it after each use, it's not a problem. I agree: Dawn Powerwash is a miracle! I even used steel wool on some of the racks before Dawn Powerwash, but it's MUCH easier now. I've had by oven for over a year and a half and while it's hardly pristine, it doesn't look even close to what happened to your oven.
