@@zanzillahsaruji9966 Is it really poverty if these people can afford to pay for electricity, have TVs and even air conditioning in their homes, and have mobile phones with internet access? A lot of kids even have their own gadgets. I also see a lot of bicycles and parked motorcycles implying they can afford to pay for fuel. They are wearing clean clothes (except for the kid at 18:30 ) - meaning they have access to clean water and everyone seems well-fed. With a 99.27% literacy rate as of 2021 - these folks have access to a functional educational system. You don't see gangbangers or fentanyl zombies on the streets. There are multiple neighborhood stores and food stalls (perhaps even way too many) with people buying from them. I see a lot of well-mannered kids, and friendly people willing to talk and help out an obvious stranger. Women are walking about freely in what appears to be a gender-equal society (19:45 - Man doing laundry; 20:30 - Man taking care of a baby; etc.) Even the cats, dogs and chicken are chilling. Never mind the overhanging wires, the narrow alleys, the drying laundry, and the make-shift houses --- these people are wealthy compared to some of the places I've been to in the world.

Another insightful walk. Hard working people & a hard life. On a personal note, a Pilipino pastor and myself had an exchange on Facebook with a Pontificating American who was claiming that poverty was a state of mind! At the end of the exchange I posted Tondo - the largest slum!

That dangerous narrow alley sure was dangerous. The passageway, as these passageways go, seemed to have a more welcoming ambience. Almost homely. Was it the amount of greenery, the number of fathers holding their babies, the sense of community and family life? I just don't know - but thanks for an absolutely great walk po. Poverty was still on display tho.

I’ve been watching his videos and other walking videos of this region and it seems to me that yes family is number one. Lots of kids lol. One thing for sure is that the filipinos are friendly people, look at the smiles of the ladies. Though life is rough, they’re still smiling and they make things work.
