Why do you use an inversion in the example at 3:54? (Was ik maar vroeger gekomen!) Is it ok to say just : "Ik was vroeger moeten gekomen"? ruclips.net/video/g12MsR3tIIw/видео.html
Hi, good question. Using inversion with the plusquamperfectum is the typical way to express unfulfilled wishes. You could also say 'Ik had vroeger moeten komen', but it is - to my opinion - less dramatic.
Dankjewel Alain 🙏
Bedankt, Alan! Deze uitleg is heel duidelijk!
Graag gedaan!
You made it look not so scary after all!
Thanks :)
Merci
Hi Alain!
At 2:27, the second sentence; Ik had al gegeten. Isn’t ‘al’ unnecessary since ‘had gegeten’ determine it’s plusquamperfectum?
Thanks.
Hi Arad, indeed, it's unnecessary, but you can still use it.
@@LearnDutchwithAlain Thanks for that!
