Interestingly enough, Molgera was my favorite boss in Wind Waker. I loved the complexity of the Wind Temple, and the major contrast that Molgera brought to it. I was a little upset that he seemed a little too easy: I never got eaten by it, attacked by any of its larvae. It was kinda flawless for a first playthrough, and it felt like I overpowered it completely. But when the time came for me to face it again in Ganon's Tower, I was given the biggest middle finger in gaming history. The attacks were much quicker, the larvae attacked more frequently and constantly got in the way of me targeting Molgera's tongue, and I ended up getting eaten so many times, I had to use a potion. At first I was pretty outraged that Molgera seemed to have gotten its revenge, with the constant attacks, Link always got knocked back down before he could even get up again. When I finally succeeded again, I was so relieved that it was finally over. I never thought my favorite boss would get back at me like that, creating the most challenge I've ever faced within the game thus far. Ironically the first fights with the other bosses caused mayhem too, and Molgera was super easy; now the tables have turned and it was a chaotic role reversal. This time, it overpowered me. It was an interesting experience though, and I'm still deciding if I actually liked the second fight for how hellish it was. Molgera still won its place has my favorite boss in Wind Waker for that.
Coming back to this ten years later, after Tears of the Kingdom's Colgera boss battle theme. I don't think I'd be able to survive your take on that song. This still goes hard and in my household you're considered a legend.
It sounds like it should be the theme of a final boss. Like maybe some form where the movements are erratic and slightly unpredictable (Demon Beast). That or the polar opposite where the movements are elegant and smooth (Swordsman)
Before the video I was thinking, "Crap, nine minutes? Seems long." At the end now, I'm thinking, "No, it ended too soon!" This is an amazing piece of music.
@@catstack2395 they luckily FINALLY added a loop function on mobile like a month ago. I literally had a private Playlist that was just me cycling out various videos so I could loop the Playlist for a loop
For some reason, this version makes me think of the Twilight Princess version of Link battling it out with this giant, menacing version of Molgera all across the Gerudo Desert. The sun is low on the horizon, hot sand is shifting everywhere, and the screaming and screeching of the beast is heard across Lanayru Province... I need to write on this.
That would have been so awesome to see in the game. Leaving the dungeon to no boss or heart piece and approaching the mirror of twilight. Then you hear faint screeching and the temple starts crumbling, you use the spinner to flee from the collapsing temple a la ocarina of time, you are then in the gerudo desert and the screeching gets louder and louder and as the sun sets, the orange light gets dim by the shadow of the giant monster emerging from the sands and you fight it riding Epona or a bulblin boar throughout the desert and when the beast is killed you take a heart piece from it and return to the mirror of twilight which survived the destruction of the desert temple. just realized i'm 5 years late to this comment... oh well
8:10 Is nobody gonna talk about that EPIC FINISHER with the hookshot like sound and the molgera zipping to link with him hyaaaaing the finishing blow ! It so cool man !
I meant the "chika chika chika chika" voice that plays through the whole song, i think it's part of the identity of this song so i'm glad the creator of this remix kept it.
Funny enough, I don't see the Link fight with Molgera while listening to this (and I have many, many times). I instead imagine what would most likely be Fado's death scene. I just imagine a Fado flying around in a sphere of wind in the boss room, sand blowing everywhere, with Molgera bearing down on him. It's really intense.
Fados magic was wearing thin, and before long the once strong gale that protected him from the beast was but only a breeze, whisping the sand lightly around his feet. The Molgera bore down on him with a maw of sharp teeth, he dodged to the left, the narrow jaws snap shut on empty air as the sage scrambled to his feet from the sand. Fado could not celebrate yet, he was weak, winded and exhausted from the one sided fight, he knew he wouldn't make it, that his goddesses failed him, that there was nothing and noone to save him from the evil overtaking his temple, Fado had resigned to his unfortunate fate but would not stand idle and wait for death. He wasnt a hero, nothing but a simple priest, but he had courage, and faith, the hero would set him free.
What if they had Molgera return, but had a Shadow of the Colossus battle style where Link had to shoot its tongue in order to make it drop lower so he could hookshot to it and make chop to his face?
Kenny Hine i could imagine it would go like this" link enters the room and sees just a glimpse of molgera and nothing happens, but then the room starts to shake and link gets word of molgera going outside, then when you find yourself outside and finally see molgera jumping out of the sand, and link calls epona to his side for an epic battle".
That sounds amazing! What if it was a sort of timed boss where you had to kill Molgera before it reached a temple or something across the map a la The Imprisoned and you killed it in a similar fashion to the last phase of Morpheel, leaping off of your horse in that slow motion thing, hookshotting to its tongue and stabbing it?
I swear, Theophany just keeps getting better and better. That opening gave me goosebumps, the pause after the opening made me crave more...if I had any complaint, it would be that the song itself does tend to drag. The original song is just over three minutes long, and this one is extended to almost ten minutes. There's only so many climaxes a song can have. Still, it's a minor complaint, and the extensions do help add a bit of flavor to the song that the original didn't have.
"This music. Finished as no music is ever finished. Replace one note and there would be diminishment. Replace one phrase and the structure would fall. Here is the very voice of deity." There are no extensions to this piece. It is precisely how long it needs to be.
Holy god damn, I never heard the Hookshot at 8:18 before. That's so legitimately badass! You can totally see Link flying in for the final killing blow.
This delivers on so many levels. Today's remixes don't get 10% this good. It's a grand classic of a take on Zelda music. Purely epic. Best of the best. Best in slot. No competition. First place, 10 empty spots then number 2. Props to you TheophanyRemix
I know about the Time's End album. I knew about it back in 2012 and have had it on my iPod since he released them for DL. I mean he should do more from Wind Waker and other games.
the beginning part that plays is the song that plays when you first see Molgera. Later on is when the song loses a bit of familiarity. Even then the song is AWESOME!
Molgera is my second-favorite boss from Wind Waker, it's design, the atmosphere of the sand pit, and especially the music, is so epic. And you've done a perfect job at recreating that!

This is such an Epic fan-rendition of Molgera's boss fight. I think what I love the most about this rendition is not only did you keep to the original music but at the same time you made it sound very Aztec like in sound, which the entire temple looked similar to. Awesome job. Liked and downloaded.
Dude, so glad to see the finished version of this! I wish we could've gotten the old draft for BadAss, but this one is it's own beast & I love the direction you ended up going with it! Sounds great!
Huh don't know if anyone caught it but if you look at the pic carefully you can actually see that he has two-three images switching at a rapid pace with the eye a shade higher or lower then the previous making it look like the eye is glowing. Neat little optical illusion trick that fits the song well.
Also, if you look by Link's legs, you can see what is probably sand blowing in the wind. I only noticed it after I went to look at Molgera's eye to find if it was really glowing, which I would've never noticed if you hadn't pointed it out, thanks!
no problem Branonymous. I caught that as well the second time i watched the video but by then i'd already posted the comment so it was sort of moot point. Plus wheres the fun if i reveal all of the little optical illusions in one go?
a possibility but using a multi-layered image seems simpler to pull off if you ask me. I mean i've WATCHED some of the shit team four star has to do for their abridged series -shudders-
Unfreakin believable. I've never heard something so in depth like this since your Clocktown cover. Could you guys do an Outset Island cover? I feel like you guys could really honor the theme by doing it the way only you guys can.
2022 and this song is still amazing. this brings back so many memories of the days i played wind waker. SSBU remixed this song but I will forever love your interpretation of Molgera the most
When we first played got to this part of the game, it was my 9 year old cousin's turn to play, and when he saw the Molgera's entrance, and how the sand went all crazy, and the creepy/scary whats-gonna-happen-next music happening, his face was PRICELESS XD his eyes were huge when he threw the controller at me like it was hot potato and he said; "EEEEEEEE- NO WAY, HERE YOU CAN HAVE MY TURN" XDDDD omg and then my 13 year old self battled him like a pro (I happened to have finished the game before going to his house) and he was all "it was the intro that made me chicken out xD" But I did confess to him that when I first got to that part I prayed for the Lord's mercy because that giant skull snake lookin' BEAST looked like he was unstoppable in that introduction. Ahh, good old days :3
Toon Link Dude when I first saw Molgera I thought, oh... my... god... Then when the music finally kicked in I was determined to destroy that thing cause it was the most badass boss theme in all of LoZ to me, I still think that today! On that day, the hype was real!
+Shea No lol oh gosh. I faced a similar situation with Dark Link in ocarina of time when i was about the same age, and it hurt me more than it hurt link xD
You simply cannot quit making these remixes.. I am one of those who see more in music than just the sounds, and really appreciate this remix. I believe you have a talent. This was pure amazing!
I'm imagining this song in Zelda Wii U, where Link is riding on Epona, chasing down a sand-worm boss through a gigantic wide-open desert area. That would be incredible.
You know what, they should make a zelda game where ALL the bosses are giant, collosal creatures. Climb onto them, stab weak spots, avoid attempts to shake you off, that sort of thing. Wouldn't that be epic?!?
this is probably weird, but it would MAKE MY _LIFE_ if a professional dance company choreographed a super-theatrical modern (or even ballet) piece to this. how fucking epic would that be? the lead soloist would be link, with a classy master sword prop, and molgera would be represented by the chorus line doing really tight formations to evoke the shape of its head and body. UGH IT WOULD BE SO AMAZINGGGG
OH MY GOD I HAD TO COME BACK BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS: what if the production took inspiration from chinese dragon dance???? CAN YOU IMAGINE A GIANT, FLOWING, STYLIZED MOLGERA PUPPET BEING MANIPULATED INTO ALL SORTS OF CRAZY SHAPES BY STUNT-TRAINED DRAGON DANCERS??? OMFG IM THE OPPOSITE OF CALM RN
+Foxandraven333 THAT WOULD ALSO BE SUPER COOL. there are definite flamenco influences in this piece, or at least it seems that way to my untrained ear.
+tiffany aching Not gonna lie that's something that I've been wanting to see for forever. Flamenco or even fan dancers. A lot of costuming and flowy things.
Liked, Favorited, Subscribed. By the Gods. I thought Time's End was something special, a unique style of realism and ambiance that only worked once. This topped it. I wish I learned of this sooner. I think what really does it is the realistic, high-quality instrumentation. I felt grounded in a musical piece, not just listening to synthetic crap.
This song gives me goosebumps. Every time I've listened to it. For the entire duration of the song. ...seriously, I've listened to a lot of people try their hands at re-doing a lot of different video game music.... this is hands down the best out of them all. By a long shot. (Or should I say hookshot?)
Ah, the Speed of Link! My favorite value. It's the speed of Link with the pegasus boots, obviously. And since the pegasus boots give him the speed of a pegasus, we need to know how fast a pegasus flies. But as we all know, a pegasus can reach a max speed of mach 5 before causing a sonic rainboom and doubling their speed instantaneously to mach 10. Link's top speed is mach 5, since he's never rainboomed. Eat your heart out, Sonic, you slow bastard.
We are not worthy of this. Fuck, I don't think LINK HIMSELF would be worthy of this. Awsome, Amazing, Epic, Jaw-dropping, OutSTANDING, Indescribably Fan-Gasmic. All of the previous descriptions thrown into one discriptive word wouldn't even come close to 0.5/64 of the way towards scratching the surface of the tip of the iceburg in regards to this song. That's just how infinitely ?????????? it is. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the molgera.....I remember it all too well...I remember bringing the forest child Makar here once, back in the days Ganondorf ruled the great oceans. I remember that entire experience. when I set foot on its territory it burst forth from the sand with that horriffing scream, before I explain the experience let me just ask myself one more.time; HOW THE HELL DOES IT FLY AROUND???!! anyway...I remember it's face that look of massive hunger for my flesh. as I battled the monstrosity of the earth I always wondered how it survived for so long. I remember the molgera were said to go extinct thousands of years ago...the king of red lions had said they were killed off by the ocean after the goddesses flooded the earth...I remember how I always nearly lost my legs trying to avoid being snapped into its mouth trying to latch the hookshot onto it's tongue..all of the larvae it spat out...
St King We need a Zelda movie, animated or live action, but it needs to exist, however, there's the big risk that they might screw it, so that's the problem...
I keep imagining fighting a molduga in BotW/TotK, and molgera shows up outta nowhere, eats the molduga, then sets its sights on Link.

XDDDD omg and then my 13 year old self battled him like a pro (I happened to have finished the game before going to his house) and he was all "it was the intro that made me chicken out xD" But I did confess to him that when I first got to that part I prayed for the Lord's mercy because that giant skull snake lookin' BEAST looked like he was unstoppable in that introduction.
Ahh, good old days :3
Toon Link Haha that's great! xD
Toon Link Dude when I first saw Molgera I thought, oh... my... god... Then when the music finally kicked in I was determined to destroy that thing cause it was the most badass boss theme in all of LoZ to me, I still think that today! On that day, the hype was real!
***** xD
+Shea No lol oh gosh. I faced a similar situation with Dark Link in ocarina of time when i was about the same age, and it hurt me more than it hurt link xD
***** Now speak english
You simply cannot quit making these remixes.. I am one of those who see more in music than just the sounds, and really appreciate this remix. I believe you have a talent. This was pure amazing!
Can’t understand why this isn’t on Spotify ? Pleaaaasee !! 😭
It used to be too. Strange
...Wow, this is an absolute masterpiece
I have nothing else to say, this is just an absolute masterpiece
I'm imagining this song in Zelda Wii U, where Link is riding on Epona, chasing down a sand-worm boss through a gigantic wide-open desert area. That would be incredible.
Sounds like Shadow of the Colossus, and in a *very* good way!
Game Gaiden Noah Fence I *totally* agree...
Game Gaiden exactly Shadow of the Colossus, haha
You know what, they should make a zelda game where ALL the bosses are giant, collosal creatures. Climb onto them, stab weak spots, avoid attempts to shake you off, that sort of thing. Wouldn't that be epic?!?
Vincent Linsin Yeah, and have the game be nothing but epic boss battles!
Oh wait, that's Shadow of the Colossus. Oh well, they should still do it!
I always thought it was impossible to make good music even better. After hearing THIS, never have I been so wrong. Keep up the amazing work!
I almost died of the epicness... The sounds of the battle going on really make it epic. And ooooh.. 2:27 :)
This made me cry. this is my favourite song. No other remix has ever been so epic. Thank you for sharing T_T
this is probably weird, but it would MAKE MY _LIFE_ if a professional dance company choreographed a super-theatrical modern (or even ballet) piece to this. how fucking epic would that be? the lead soloist would be link, with a classy master sword prop, and molgera would be represented by the chorus line doing really tight formations to evoke the shape of its head and body.
+tiffany aching DO. IT.
+tiffany aching needs to be flaminco dancer with a sword?
+Foxandraven333 THAT WOULD ALSO BE SUPER COOL. there are definite flamenco influences in this piece, or at least it seems that way to my untrained ear.
+tiffany aching Not gonna lie that's something that I've been wanting to see for forever. Flamenco or even fan dancers. A lot of costuming and flowy things.
This is the best version of this song I have ever heard.
I will gladly listen to this over and over.
I AM listening to this over and over.
Anyone else notice that Molgera's roar at 0:37 sounds exactly like The Imprisoned?
Love it at 1:08 when it goes into the open drum-roll.
I'd love for Theophany to do Stone Tower Temple...both versions! :D
Brilliant.
That's hard to believe the talent you have to catch the essence of the game.
Please don't stop, the world is made brighter by your music.
This song gives me goosebumps.
Every time I've listened to it.
For the entire duration of the song.
...seriously, I've listened to a lot of people try their hands at re-doing a lot of different video game music.... this is hands down the best out of them all. By a long shot. (Or should I say hookshot?)
Don't be silly, it's clearly further than even a longshot!
it's even further than a Helmaroc king throw!
That slicing soundeffect at the end felt soooo amazing.
I swear to GANON they better hire you for the Zelda Movie soundtrack...
I' ve been literally waiting my entire life for a rendition of Molgera this faithful and amazing.
2:22 whenever I hear that sound, I immediately think of those weird jellyfish things from the Krazoa palaces in Star Fox Adventures.
This was an amazing remake. Absolutely loved it. The wind pipes in it give me chills. The opening itself was (chef kiss)
I want to dance to this while weilding a sword and tearing through enemies at the speed of Link.
"...at the speed of Link."
Michael Ferrigno yup its a speed :3
***** "Link's my name, speed's mah game. Screw sanic"
TriforceCollector Badass and awesomness are Link's game. And super speed with the Pegasus boots.
Best Zelda Remix I've ever heard, and the fact that it happens to be my favorite theme in the first place makes it all that much better.
THE INTRO NOISES OML I THINK I'M IN LOVE
Is it me or is the green eyes glowing.
It aint you man :)
yeah your right
Yeah
Yeah there's also some blowing sand.
I love those interactive video pictures which are not pictures at all.
I saw this on my subscriptions list, when the hugest smile I ever saw lit up my face.
the molgera.....I remember it all too well...I remember bringing the forest child Makar here once, back in the days Ganondorf ruled the great oceans.
This is amazing! A nice combination of Zelda and Assassin's Creed music styles.
I was already in shock from how epic this was and then I noticed the moving sand and I just lost it.
*B R A V O*
This immense build up, lasting for 150 seconds to the
climax of the song man, such a great piece of art
that guitar in the begining😍😍
1:35
I have no words for the epicness of this piece. You just earned a subscriber.
Oh please, Lord in Heaven, let Theophany make a Wind Waker album! Speaking as someone who enjoyed your Majora's Mask mix, this was amazing, truly.
That transition into the roaring drums at 1:10 gave me BUMPS, dude!! So good!!
These kind of songs are the ones that would play if Zelda games were remade into an epic ''Lord of the Rings style'' movie. ^_^
I wish Peter Jackson would take a crack at Zelda. It would be so sick.
lgilliss1 Holy crap yes
Please stay away from Legend Of Zelda, Hollywood!
Peter Jackson maybe
St King We need a Zelda movie, animated or live action, but it needs to exist, however, there's the big risk that they might screw it, so that's the problem...
To think I’d find this years later in my recommendations.
What a world
Ngl the link is a little uncanny, but the music is good.
