Nice work. I have the same model I bought 20 odd years ago. I bottled out because the planking looked so difficult and it sat on the top shelf of my workshop gathering dust. Now we’re in lockdown due to Covid 19, I thought I’d be brave and finally have a go! Half way through the planking now! And seeing what an amazing model you finished up with has spurred me on. Well done.
Thank you! Unlike shipbuilding in the real world, our projects fortunately don't have a deadline. Just use your patience and spend time on the details, and I'm absolutely sure You'll end up with a result you can be very proud of.
Jake Taff mine didn’t look as good either. But plenty of filler and sanding and it looks passable now! Onto the cabin now. Good luck. It’s keeping me sane while I can’t work 👍
For a first build you have done very well. That planking takes some doing. Not many people who start boats actually finish them so at least you stuck at it.
Wow looks great , I bought a really nice model ship and a steam engine for it at a yard sale for $10 but ended up selling them for $250 before building it, now im working on a cheap chinese laser cut fishing boat as my first ship and its coming out okay but it will never be as nice as yours
@@salmaakermi6643 Thank you so much! I hope you can save up to the kit, as it is a very nice starter kit. I could never build it from scratch, as I a have very little experience.
May I know this tune please, very soothing. I have found a this in the loft, most parts are missing I cannot source a kit near me therefore going to scale the drawings I have and make one from balsa and ply.
Hi There, I'm making this model now. On the deck planking, how did you do the planking / boarder (painted blue)? Did you plank the whole thing and then paint the edges or did you paint the under-deck and then plank over that? Thanks, Mark
Hello Luddes kanal, I have bought the same model (Norden 603) at a garage sale. The model was incomplete, the wooden sheets numbers 2072L (The sheet where the frames are) and 2073L-B are missing. I bought it thinking that I could make new ones based on the drawings in the instructions, but these drawings are not on the same scale, the size is very different. Please could you tell me what dimensions have the tables 2072L (The sheet where the frames are) and 2073L-B?. Thank you very much, with your help I will be able to build this beautiful fishing boat.
Hello Jorge, I'm afraid I don't have the remains of those sheets anymore. If I did I would be happy to help you. Can you work out the scale somehow by measuring on the general drawing, which is 1:1?
@@Luddebuilds Hi, thanks for your response. I tried to calculate at 1: 1 scale but in the instructions the images are smaller. I cut them into cardboard and they are smaller ... Maybe you could help me with your email to ask you the size of certain pieces such as the roof of the wheel house, or some others to calculate the scale?
@@Luddebuilds Thanks for replying, you are very kind. Right now I am going to scale the images with the measurements that you have given me. My email is jhidalgo@post.com or jhidalgo077@gmail.com. Thanks again for your help.
Hi! The stern section is made of 2 balsa blocks that comes with the kit. You simply glue the blocks to the stern/last frame, and then sand them until they have the right shape.
Wonderful! Well done with the plankwork, not easy! I love the detail, I was especially taken with the tiny fish crates. Lovely! 🌟👍
Thank you very much!

Prestonville Pedaller brought one just before lockdown and i’ve just finished the planking and it looks like utter shit compared to this

I was impressed.

Excellent! I could never do that! :-)
Yes, you could. I'm sure about that.
Beautiful clean build!! What was the degree of difficulty on the Norden kit?
Thank you! The Norden is an easy kit, suited for beginners like me.
Thanks....cheers😄@@Luddebuilds
Lovely

this is so damn cute you're so talented! i'm trying to make this from scrathc cause i can't afford to buy the kit hahaha, but it' going so bad

The tune is called "Fresh Fallen Snow", by Chris Haugen. Good luck with your building project!

Hi Mark. I painted the edges of the underdeck before I did the deck planking.

I think Billings can do better in providing better looking propellers in their kits. These two blades are horrible
