Music like this is elevating. My dad played several times for Johnny Mathis. I met Johnny and he actually sat down to me and spoke during mid-afternoon rehearsal for a few minutes. He is an amazing person as well as all the musicians who elevate our consciousness to a higher level. Thank you.
I remember my dear friend and his wife who fell in love with this song on watching the movie in which it was the theme music. They've passed but each time I hear the song I remember the good times we shared.
The amazing beautiful voice of Jonny Mathis and sax of Dave Koz, what a combination! All the young pretenders, this is how it is done! That is one smooooth sax!
I've listened to almost all the renditions of this song, and this one is my favorite. The velvety, silky and legendary voice of Johnny Mathis, the sexy and smooth saxophone from Dave Koz and all the accompanying instruments is such a mixture of delightful sounds. I hear a bit of samba, bossa nova, and modern jazz all at once and JOHNNY.
Johnny Mathis was aging gracefully. He made me cry watching them together. You can see the admiration from Dave Koz as he looks at Johnny. At 82 Johnny is still at his best, I just watched him last Feb. 13 in Portland,Oregon . His voice is still amazingly melodious and romantic. My love for him is here to stay.
The guy doesn’t age. 😳 He still looks and sounds fantastic. Those glances from Dave Koz are just so heartwarming. I love this song and I love the video too. 👍
One of my all time favorite songs, This version is beautiful. It's clear the appreciation and admiration that these two artists have for each other. I was lucky to see Johnny in concert with my cousins in Chicago when he was 79 years old. His voice was still amazing, he's an American Treasure.
I know he’s not in the video, but I think the trumpet was done by Chris Botti. What a combo. I LOVE Koz and Botti together, and we don’t get to see that collaboration enough. Throwing Mathis into the mix makes this song pure magic. I’d be the first in line to buy an entire album by this magical trio. 😍
Fabulous and beautiful....I love it when great artists leave their "egos at the door" and create a great sound for us to enjoy....they are certainly having a wonderful time...
Beautiful music indeed! Johnny Mathis is amazing. And Dave Koz evokes such lovely and sensuous tone from his sax. Music on this level is simply transcendent. How I wish I could play beside these musicians even for a day...
Great video!! Smooth and relaxing!! I had the pleasure of seeing both of these talented men in concert. Not together, though. I love them. Thanks for sharing.
When Johnny Mathis and Dave Koz did this song, on the Jay Leno Show, several years earlier, Chris Botti was playing the same Trumpet solo parts, but was not mentioned. Maybe he did not feel he played enough to get mentioned, but he played, about the same amount, of time. He was sitting, off camera, in both cases, but you could see the drums, etc., but could not see, who was over, on that side.
This is so beautiful, I feel like im in a dream when I see the excitement and love these artist have! My husband bought me this CD for Valentines Day the year it came out!! It never gets old!
Oh my goodness... this song!! I love it!! In fact this entire CD is just beautiful. I got it for a Valentines Day gift some years ago I want to say for my 17th year anniversary!! I still love it im on year 28!!
I love this Johnny Mandel ("Suicide Is Painless" from M*A*S*H) song which won an Oscar for Best Song of 1965 for the film "The Sandpiper" and Best Song Grammy in 1966, one of my favorite years of great pop/rock music. Nice bluesy cover.
One day we walked along the sand One day in early spring You held a piper in your hand To mend its broken wing Now I'll remember many a day And many a lonely mile The echo of a piper's song The shadow of a smile The shadow of your smile When you are gone Will color all my dreams And light the dawn Look into my eyes My love and see All the lovely things You are to me Our wistful little star Was far too high A teardrop kissed your lips And so did I Now when I remember spring All the joy that love can bring I will be remembering The shadow of your smile
Super Mega like
I almost didn't play this video, because I'm not a Dave Koz fan. However, he surprised me on this one. I actually like his tone on this. If he would stay away from that "smooth jazz" style of playing, I would listen more. No words for Johnny Mathis. He's a living legend. Overall, a solid tune with a subtle arrangement.
guitargod59997 -- "Einstein brought up in a barn," I love your comment, you made me laugh. Yes, I agree with you, the video and and music/sound are out of sync. What a fantastic performance by Johnny and Dave, I have Dave's CD "Memories Of A Winter's Night," and that guy can play that sax.
Beautiful, but it would have been more soulful if the sax had been played by Sir Michael Paulo, my favorite musician, and a class act who plays from the heart mind and soul.
Jonny Mathis has been a star for more than sixty years. You can tell Dave Koz is thrilled to be doing this with him

His voice reminds me of my dad I lost 31 years ago he loved his music played all the time 😢miss him
I remember my dear friend and his wife who fell in love with this song on watching the movie in which it was the theme music.
They've passed but each time I hear the song I remember the good times we shared.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the way Koz looks at Mathis? Like he gets to perform with one of his musical heroes. 😉🥰

What an extraordinary execution of fine art and class.
Why is Dave kozz tenor bigger than the ones on Amazon
Undeniably two of the greatest musicians the world has known, Mr. Koz saxaphone and Mr. Matthis velvet voice. What a joy this is..
Jonny Mathis simply incredible - unforgettable voice. Dave Koz always outstanding. Great pair.

Jonny Mathis' voice is a kiss in a soul.
I can not believe that Johnny Mathis is 75 years old. Man, the guy still sounds great!
I absolutely love this. Great song, musician and singer. Love this so much.
There are Saturday nights that could be built around this song, the arrangement. This is velvet smooth.
Beautiful music and singing
My brain melted with the smoothness of this song.
Mathis ... a true treasure, caressing this song . Superb. The sax.... a mellow undertone . very easy listening. i've got Mathis mania.

Simply amazing watching these two masters perform together. You can see the respect they have for each other. Timeless!

Dave Koz and Johnny Mathis together, unreal and if I'm not mistaken Chris Botti on trumpet. WOW

Fantastic.
I wake up in the early dawn, and somehow I could still smell her perfume, it lingers in the air and in my mind.
One day we walked along the sand
One day in early spring
You held a piper in your hand
To mend its broken wing
Now I'll remember many a day
And many a lonely mile
The echo of a piper's song
The shadow of a smile
The shadow of your smile
When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes
My love and see
All the lovely things
You are to me
Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile

Johnny's the best.
beautiful music

Excellent rendition of this song! BUT it's a shame that there are no shots of the Amazing Chris Botti on Trumpet ??! Wonder why?

If after hearing this song doesn't take you back to your first holding hands, first kiss, first intimate time....you really haven't lived.

Yes.. those were the days.
Mr Mathis . Wow

I have a dream to play with Dave Koz

Where is the Chris Botti
Johnny Mathis favorite singer was Nat King Cole…if Nat lived longer he could have recorded this song too.
Is Johnny Mathis just lipsynching here?
