Thanks again for the encouragement and pointing out the options. I'm 56 years young and live in Spokane WA, a smaller city. Because of my family obligations I have no choice but to try and get a local driving job, and I'm worried I may not find anything. But, I really want a "driving job" and I figured I could make more money and have more options if I have a CDL. I'm convinced that the industry needs older, responsible drivers. I'm old and unable to go regional or OTR, and I have no experience. Wish me luck, thanks..
Thank you for your comment! Glad we could help. Keep going! For more guidance, give us a call at 908.525.3609. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm.
I just wanna say that just because you have a CDL you’ll be able to drive with ups is FALSE. UPS is a seniority based Union system. You have to start in the bottom at the warehouse, then become a package car driver for atleast 5 years, then sign a bid list to become a (CDL) feeder cover driver , then maybe you’ll become a full time (CDL) feeder driver. It can take you up to 10-15 years.
@@bassbass3251no. It’s actually pretty much true. No discourage but if you’re gonna be part of UPS you have to start on the bottom and work hard in there and sign up for driver but it’ll take years! There’s a long waiting list going on.
Waiting for 10 years to get a driver job at UPS makes no sense, if I can drive for a oil company or food service company or the myriad of companies out there, I can make UPS money 💰 in less time with a good company plus not deal with the hierarchy of a seniority based company. Having a cdl make you flexible.
I’m getting one!! My biz (firewood) has been dead!!! I don’t want to go thru this again. CDL means freedom for me. !!! I can work any where in the US. !!!!
As a C/TPA ... it will only be good if you're willing to plan, stay compliant, have a maintenance plan, and a good dispatching or logistics company helping find loads. Many companies no longer give contracts to shippers. Governmental regulations from FMCSA and each State's DOT does make it challenging overall. You definitely need a team behind you.
😅 🖐️🙌 In my honest opinion on answering this question ⁉️ towards Driving Academy | CDL Trucking School 🏫🎒, I believe that it's well worth having a CDL. Whether it's a Class A, B or C, it can assist you with standing out among other applicants and it can expand your options within the transportation industry ☺️.
Thank you for sharing your honest opinion! I completely agree with you. Having a CDL can set you apart from other applicants and give you more options in the transportation industry. It's definitely worth pursuing!
If you are willing to live in the truck and never go back home and ok with .40 cents per mile pay. I say do it. But if you cant live being alone on the road and only have views in front of you and radio or tunes to keep you company. Trucking is not for you.
In order to make money trucking nowadays you will have NO LIFE chasing that dollar. On the average it sucks but there are specialty areas that can pay you well

I drove company for 20yrs. Owner operator now. Started with 300k life savings. I'm down to my last few thousand dollars
There are things people aren't telling you. Like companies blk balling you with lies. And having to put up with wild company rules & low pay

Glad to see you fixed the transitions between cameras. Much better editing. You should talk about the MELT program in Canada

Getting a cdl is much easier and more worth it then getting a worthless degree
That's an interesting perspective! Both paths have their merits, but it's great to hear your positive experience with getting a CDL.
Thanks for the info 👍
