The easiest way to test if your IR remote is working is to open your camera on your phone, take the IR remote, point it at the lens of your phone camera, press any button on remote, and on the screen of your phone you will see if the diode is lighting up or not.
That is correct However this video also talks about decoding the IR signals. You cannot decode the signals by pointing it to a phone camera. Moreover, iPhone don't allow this feature aswell
Lol... I saw this and was going to say exactly the same thing. You can also use this same method to see if the "night vision" Infrared LEDs are working on your security camera (s)
