I have never understood why some people assume that everything Puyo since 7 is non-canon. I can't see why there would be anything that could contradict them being directly connected with one another.
Yeah. There's this weird fixation in some circle that only the numbered games count. PP7 acknowledges SOME form of 15th happened. The tournament happened. And few characters remember each other because of that tournament in PP7 and 20th.
Very informative! Time to annoy my friends by talking about Puyo lore for 5 hours (again) but this time I'll be more informed about whats canon and not canon. I also gotta love the end part encouraging viewers to have fun and make their own AU's and fanons, which beilieve me, i will Definetely be doing 😀
I interpret as when arle defeated the creator and the madou multiverse was destroyed that Satan came in and remade the multiverse reason why we have puyo and how Satan really never Interferes when a threat is going on unless it's for his own amusement since after the creator death he had to take over as God and Satan
Great video, I didn't see it sooner because RUclips automatically hides comments with links so it was just sitting there in RUclips studio for a long time. Anyways the puyo series is convoluted as fuck lol but it's nice that your friend is able to give comprehensive explanations that allow for you to follow the lore in your own way
There's no such thing as canon in Japan. Thanks to the Anti-Canon Field emanating from the meteor buried deep under Lake Ashi, Japanese don't feel that primal drive to find one and only one series of events in a fictional setting as humans in any other nation do. They just... freestyle it. Pick from whatever versions they want for the sake of the story at hand. And maybe... just maybe... that approach to "canon" is superior.
10:16 ok so i feel like if i dont say this itll bother me forever satan doesn't really DIRECTLY mention 15th anniversary in the japanese version - he only talks to amitie as if he's already met her (i think, deepl may have left something out). i think the english fan translation added in the tournament part on its own? this doesn't contradict the point of the games acknowledging each other, just wanted to point it out for fun

Well, at least the violence in the Game Gear versions of the first 3 Madou games is toned down, even the part where Schezo gets beheaded (then his disembodied head fights back) is omitted, too.😃 I mean, Sega doesn't want players to fight a disembodied head and stuff.
Hello, I have played almost every single Madou Monogatari game and I speak Japanese. The Game Gear versions are NOT "toned down", Madou was never a serious, dark series, it was always a comedy franchise, much closer to the current tone of the Sega games than you would think. Schezo's beheading only happens in one single port of Madou 2 (the PC-98 port, which is NOT the original version) and was treated as a JOKE there. Arle was *mildly annoyed* when it happened, and then proceeded to knock the floating Schezo head unconcious (no killing involved). The impression that Sega made the series "softer" is only true insofar that the standards of what's acceptable in kids' games have changed since the early 90s, that is all. Madou and Puyo were ALWAYS all-ages oriented, though with a lot of jokes that skew for an older audience, to this do. The only thing Sega really *actively* changed was that they introduced a unified art-style, rather than hiring a different artist for every single game.
I needed RUclips account name, and I liked Kirby. When Google+ came around it pretty much required everyone to used a first and last name. So I added Neo to Kirbyvskirby. Because splitting Kirbyvskirby off looks awkward. It's not a new account from the original account despite the name, this is the old account. I didn't even know what neo meant.

I had no idea doppelganger arle's "lore" was straight up not a thing. I've been crushed by the realization and I will not survive the winter.
im so happy someone is making puyo videos that are not just gameplay
I wish we could've had more games in the canon of the gory PC98 Madou games. I really liked the art direction in those.
I appreciate videos like this about Puyo lore. Great video!
Gah, this is an amazing video!!! ...I'll have to DM you about using it for something later on Twitter.

"Puyo Puyo Fever in a Nutshell" when?
After Madou part 4.
After Minna.
After Madou part 3.
But really after Madou Part 5.

Amazing video about the lore of Puyo and Modou Monogatari
I wish Sega would see the success of Zelda and greenlight an Puyo Puyo Chronicle sequel for the Switch.

Gotcha. And yeah that doesn't break anything thankfully. The only time they could've met (on-screen) was 15th's tournament.

I think I may be SLIGHTLY responsible for the spreading of that rumor, due to a comment I made on an upload of Last Decisive Battle.
Oops.

Where did you find the schezo render on the thumbnail?
It's from Puyo Puyo Quest. It's one of his alts called "Cool Schezo".
Look on the Puyo Nexus wiki for more.
How does Sorcery Saga compare to these games?
Hard reboot
