    Which method have YOU been using for smoothing over your audio between cuts? If you're using the Detach Audio method it's okay! But, like, stop. 🔪🥦🧲🎞

    And don’t forget editors you can double click the lower audio half of the clip to expand and collapse the audio half of your clip.

      Thanks for watching! So glad this will help - it’s one of the must-know elements of editing audio in FCP. Let me know if anything else is causing you any friction in your workflow! And congrats on stating your journey as a RUclipsr!

    Very good! I didn't know about OPT+T. Thanks. I tried it and will use it. I believe you can set a very short default length in Settings.
    My default lately to avoid the possibility of clicks and pops is pulling the faders about 0.2 frames on each side. In theory, clicks and pops happen when the waveform is cut at the top or bottom of the sound wave. This micro-fade zeroes each side where the waveforms meet. Fortunately, Apple's default "+3db Curve" is ideal for this. You can't hear anything, but logically it should eliminate any possibility of clicks/pops. I almost wonder why this doesn't happen by default.🤔Is my theory good? I've adapted it from working closely with waveforms in digital audio

    Thanks Matthew. You explained so much here. Especially why my attempts to use this before didn’t work (no extra handles on my audio to create cross fade). Assume this works on music tracks as well - I frequently cut up songs to match a sequence. Appreciate your channel!

    Been a super fan of your videos for a while now! Really helped me progress in my editing career! Quick Q - I have an editing gig that wants me to use premiere. Do you have a video that is a crossover video that lends the techniques of FCPX to Premiere? The biggest things I LOVE about FCPX is the magnetic timeline, and how the audio tracks are coupled up in a singular track. Wondering if you have a video that shows how to almost treat Premiere like its FCPX, if that's even possible! Thanks again for all your help over the years!

      So appreciate that and many thanks! I wish I did have a vid about that, but I don’t. And most FCP RUclipsrs only do vids for those switching from Premiere to FCP.
      All I can say is be prepared to feel incredibly slow with track-based editing. And count how many extra operations you have to make to do something that’s just one or two in FCP.

      @@matthewTobrien Thanks for the response! And yeah, that's what I've already been experiencing..lol...but Im trying to adjust the keystrokes and commands to what I do on FCPX...so at least my hands feel like its the same actions. Anyway, thanks again! Keep up the great videos!

      I hope it's not too torturous! But good on you for challenging yourself to learn another NLE. Never hurts to be proficient in all editing software not only to allow for more clients but to also learn what's great and not-so-great about each of them. I certainly hope it helps you appreciate the Magnetic Timeline even more... 🧲🎞️

    Hello, I am trying to crossfade by two options. Adjust audiofades-crossfades-apply. Or select two clips and option T. Nothing works. I can use controle s, see the split but no fade. Reason…..not enough media space between two clips. What can I do? The video I make is a day at the beach, strong and loud waves as background. Thank you, Frans/Bali

    Your Monogram link isn't valid.

    I couldn't see a lot of this because the inset with you talking obstructed the timeline.

    • @matthewTobrien
      @matthewTobrien  5 месяцев назад +2

      Odd. It doesn’t obstruct it when I watch it nor did it while I edited it all day today. I purposely put the Picture in Picture overlay in the top right corner to stay out of the way of what I’m teaching.
