I have found, in my short time in the quilting world, there is A LOT of money to be made on the idea that quilters must be so infitissimately accurate. Baloney!
HST perfection!!!!! Thank you Brady for posting this awesome tool for those of us who couldn’t go to market or festival!!! Luanne, thank you for being the smartest women ever!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Crazy insane price as you have to buy it all separately, so I won't be buying it. It's a shame when they out price themselves. One has to ask if they really want to actually sell them? Also how is it that someone else has to show you how to use your own tool??? I will be shocked if I get a reply at all but if they do it will be " sorry you feel that way"! Added Note: Please read all the comments! This is nothing but expensive junk!
I use green painter’s paint tape from the dollar store, I set it on the 5/8 or whatever seam needed, it works great. It doesn’t move and doesn’t damage your sewing table. You then line your material next to the vertical lined tape and sew a straight seam.
I’ve done this as well. It’s okay but as you move things around it loses its stick, the front curls back on itself - you will have to keep redoing it. I upgraded to this tool and love it.
I bought these a couple of months ago and loved them..... but they are no longer sticking, and warm water and soap are not restoring them. Please let me know what to do.
Seems like this is a big problem with no solution. A lot of money to spend on something that only last a few months. Doesn't seem like they back their products.
I received my ideal gauge kit. When I took the backing tape off the undertake came off with it. If this is how easy the tape comes off, will it come off too easy with use? My sewing machine has a lower area due to the sew steady table. What do you suggest I use to remedy this? I am Leary of how long this will last and if the expensive cost is worth it.
Maria Ziccarelli hi there, It’s quite unusual for the tape to come off like that! I find once I have attached it to my sewing surface it really stays put. I think that it will stick really well once you attach it. I’m hoping your sew steady table has the ability to raise up a bit. The legs of it might twist to lengthen the leg which will make the table higher, adjust until you have it level with your machine.
Hello! Looks like an amazing product. I had a question about the needle size. The gentleman indicated he holes were made for 12 gauge needle. If a smaller needle is used and a 1/4" or scant 1/4" seam allowance is needed the hole will be larger than the needle. How do you adjust to get the correct seam allowance or does it work no matter what the size needle is? Thank you! and thank you for the video!
Hey there! It will definitely still work. I would try bumping the needle up against the right side of the hole, and make sure to do this every time you realign the seam guide to make sure it stays consistent!
Question. I am a beginner at quilting. I have already tried doing binding (on small projects, I'm trying to work my way up) and my home machine does not have measured markings except for the very top. Does this gauge help you measure the pivot point when you come to a corner? I have screwed up and have gone past my 1/4" to go down another side. The actual pivot point is my problem. My binding turns out to where it is either 1/4" on one side then the other two are at 1/8",, etc... My presser feet aren't marked very well either.
Deena Douskurt Paine hello there Deena, did you purchase these items from us at Sparrow? I have looked up your name but do not see an order for this item. I’d like to help you, so please give us a call and we can sort it out.
What an utter disappointment. Worked good the first time, after cleaning it never worked well again, always popping loose / moving. Its not even a good ruler.
Mine is not coming clean anymore and it’s popping loose as well. Nothing last forever, right? I’m thinking of buying double sided tape, that is not heavy duty, but just enough to adhere it to the surface of my sewing machine. Hopefully that will work.
Jolene Shindler hi Jolene, I am so glad you enjoyed the video! Here is the link for you: sparrowquiltco.com/collections/ideal-seam-guides Thanks for writing! Bradie 😊
Rip off! Everyone should read all the comments before you waste your money. I agree with the lady who uses masking tape. Yeah, it doesn’t last forever but it sure is easy to replace. And who wants to clutter up their sewing area with all those rulers going every which way? I agree marking dozens of squares for half-square triangles can take a minute so I just iron mine and use the crease. Certainly works better than this good-idea-that-doesn’t-work.

This is fantastic!! We met you in Portland, Oregon at the quilt show. Thank you for sharing this product with us, I can’t wait to use it.

What a brilliant idea. I love it. Unfortunately I live in UK so not available to me 😢.

How do you do the scant 1/4" when all the feet are 1/4". You can't move the guide under the foot.

This is great! I bought this system at Road to CA.
Where would you purchase the last seam guide you demonstrated, the 15" x 2.5" clear seam guide?

Is the practical perfect piecing package available???
Mine no longer sticks. Is there new backing I can buy or do I have to buy a whole new guide?
