    He was a great Dagwood and I enjoyed the movies on Sunday morning TV, but I had no idea of the incredible life he lived. Amazing! Thanks for making me aware.

    Fascinating. It says that Lake retired in 1957 but also that he did the Dagwood TV series in 1958. Was that just a misprint, meaning he actually retired in 1958? Also everyone knows Hearst's "niece" was actually his daughter ( she looked just like him). What I wonder though was what was the "official" story as to who the "niece's" parents were suppose to be and why she was being raised by Hearst?
