Just bought a 50L backpack which, as you said, doesn't indicate total volume. Since this was my first large backpack I found your video very helpful as I was getting confused trying to figure it out for myself. I watched with my backpack by me and paused to check the various parts. I did not know about the whistle or the reservoir plus several other parts. Thank you for clarifying it all in one video.
Thank you! I'm really glad you found this helpful. It takes awhile to learn your way around all this gear. I hope you love your new pack!
just bought the Gregory Amber plus size and I was freaking out because I had to adjust the shoulder strap contraption down to XS I'm 5'8"... great video thanks for helping understand better.
Isn't it crazy how that works? But how do we know until someone tells us! I hope you love the Amber! I've heard nothing but good things about that collection (bought my packs before they were available). Happy hiking!
Your channel needs more recognition. Glad I found ya
You’re very kind, Brian! Welcome to my channel!
@moinab I appreciate that! 🥰
Great information. I just bought my first Gregory pack. I am hoping to get out this weekend and put some miles on that baby
Yay! Happy hiking!!
I don't use the separate compartment for my sleeping bag but I like the bottom zipper access. I keep my rain jacket at the very bottom of my pack and then my pack liner with my sleep system and clothes are on top. If it rains, I can get to the rain jacket quickly enough.
That’s a great idea!
Another helpful video, thanks! I was confused about the "front" of the pack as to me, since it's facing behind you, it should be the back. But it's not. I have to remember the lingo if I'm discussing my pack with someone who knows. The eye roll on the sleeping bag compartment 😆
Thanks, Zafira! I end up calling both sides the “front” half the time! 😂 It’s probably the strap side that’s really the front, since it’s facing front when in use.
Maybe you already have a video on this, but I'd love to see how you load your pack, including how you pack your bear canister.
I did one a couple of years ago, one of my first videos (so definitely NOT the best!). I'll post it here, but it is one I plan to make an updated version of, really detailing out what I'm doing and why. Here's the old one: ruclips.net/video/KAklAkO5afU/видео.html
@@WanderingSwitchback thank you! It was helpful!
Very informative and good to know! I had no idea about all these things on backpacks! I didnt know what all those straps were for. Now I know! Thank you so much!
I’m glad you found it informative! 😊
This was really useful, thanks. I never really understood the point of a sleeping bag compartment either, so I'm glad it isn't just me! Is there any disadvantage to a pack having one, or would it be fine to get a pack which has one and just not use it?
I think the only disadvantage would be the added weight from the divider and zipper (and maybe a possible fail point there), but otherwise, definitely not a dealbreaker for me (clearly!). I’m glad you found the video useful!
