I beat asgard expert this way today. You can maximize the book waaay longer. If you sell all other weapons and just keep the book until wave 4 you can buff it with all chests and in the shop you can buy every chest 😄 if you're lucky and get the greed relict, its all over 😁
You could play merchant. Given that his ult makes you permanently stronger, and is time based, you could farm the corridor by just not moving for a while.
If I'm reading it correctly, it's not always active. Attacks in this game go on cooldown after they finish their animation. The upgrade for this one removes that cooldown, allowing them to overlap

I've kind of adopted this as my main strategy now as opposed to getting as many weapons as fast as possible

If you think youre figuring it out and end up doing worse then you probably made some bad assumptions that are now holding you back.
You are very right, I completely changed strats in the video after this and it went a lot better
