Tyranitar is one of the Pokémon that I could be playing like garbage but have so much fun with every time. Using Unite and stomping in the middle of a fight makes you feel like you're in those old Godzilla shows with the heavy, lumbering suits. Glad they've been getting some love on all fronts. 🧡
@@hundredfireify in the meta with mewtwo x and y, inteleon, lapras, umbreon, zacian, urshifu, zoroark etc. u think ttar evolving at lvl 8 would be broken? Yeah I don't think so mate
Dang, I was just looking for a guide like this for Hoopa and I was bummed there wasn't anything as in depth for it. Would love to see more of these in the future!
I personally prefer Stone Edge for its excellent synergy with Tyranitar’s passive and with Razor Claw. If you time out your Stone Edge alongside your other move of choice, you can keep permanent uptime with Sand Stream. With the defense buffs during Sand Stream and especially during Sand Tomb, Tyranitar can be stomping around with the tankiness of a Defender
Very smart, defense buff is so powerfull. Anyway, we have to delay stone edge since enemy pokemon keep reunning away. Do you have any tips to avoid people running away ? Solo Q situation. Each time i am diving in first with sand tomb, enemy pokemon running away and poke me. My team cannot abuse this space created because enemy mon ran away from us. Do you have to play sneaky with this build ?
@@wingsrose9639 so two things can help mitigate the enemy running away. The first is and most consistent is Razor Claw. A lot of people forget that Razor Claw has a slow effect when used on a melee range Pokémon. I find that slow is often strong enough to help you stay on top of someone and if you’re timing your Stone Edge properly, every use of it should proc a Razor Claw. And don’t worry about missing damage with your autos in between procs as the sand stream damage when you’re fully evolved is often more than enough to make up for it. Just try to use the slow from Razor Claw to get ahead of your opponent so you don’t fall behind when using the next Stone Edge. The second is if you’re able to get Tyranitar in the jungle. Focusing on getting your red buff before every major fight will skyrocket how well you’re able to stick onto an enemy. The red buff can be even better than Razor Claw by leaps and bounds as you don’t have to worry about any timings. The downside to this method is that you won’t always have time to ensure you get your red buff on cooldown. Sometimes your enemy or even an ally will steal your red buff from you and this is by far the most important buff for Pokémon like Tyranitar, Garchomp, and ranged basic attackers. It’s so important that towards the end of the game even if I need xp or unite charge, I will often leave this buff for said Pokémon or allow them to last hit it when splitting xp regardless of my status of jungler or not as those buffs can sometimes make the difference between a successful Ray fight when utilized on those Pokémon. But if you as Tyranitar can ensure having the red buff before engaging the enemy team do this. Aside from these two methods, staying on an enemy Pokémon that has movement speed buffs or escape moves in their kit is as simple as waiting them out. Play your angles and use bushes to watch for when these Pokémon use their escapes before you engage them. A lot of players aren’t conditioned to hold their escape move for self peel and will use it for extra damage, in and out of combat mobility, or a slight position adjustment. When they make this mistake take that as your opportunity to attack. What’s more if you’re able to close the gap and get in melee range without needing your sand tomb or ancient power, you can use those moves to give chase. In the case of sand tomb if you can further time it to predict when your opponent would use their escape move, you can often catch them with the stun mid dash and put their escape on a full cooldown while they’re stuck in the sand tomb.
@@BamaMophi Reward for very good Sand Tomb explaination, the fact that Sand Tomb can dash over some walls does help with chasing with Unite or escaping to regroup. I feel Tyranitar struggles as a 1 vs 5 mon, he really shines as a team fighter.
I personally like running a bulkier item setup with Tyranitar if I have supports, Aeos Cookie/Weakness Policy/Focus Band, when using Sand Tomb. The extra HP paired with Tyranitar's huge bulk makes fighting under Sand Tomb a really rough time. It also tends to push Tyranitar more into an offensive Defender over an offensive All-Rounder. Sand Tomb prevents scoring, even with Ray shield, due to the large AoE True Damage ticks bypassing shields.

Ive been playing a lot of ttar recently and this video helped me learn a lot. I love the rapid fire scarf with the unite move. Really stomps solo queue
Godzilla main here, sand tomb has a huge area, perfect for zoning, it doesnt do alot of damage but relly hinders so everyone avoids it, stone edge is better early game damage and secure up until level 9 when the pokemon really takes off, still dark pulse is superior, i cant exprese enough how many times stomping with unite at ray flip has gotten me the win, but still, use unite when you now you have execute targets, not just to dish damage. The most value tyranitar adds is setting up very hard pushes with his true damage, with proper heals and some curse items (they dont work with true damage, so maybe a teammate with it) you can push any goal
Many people havent played this buold but in my opinion sand tomb and dark pulse is the best build. With this build the enemyes can only run away with an eject button try it at least once

This was a good guide! I always feel like I need more health on Ttar emblem-wise cause going for crit just seems to get me KOed more. I still think it makes him look like a total doofus, at least in this setting. The kabuki look feels more appropriate for Contests, not brawling.
