The one thing most people don’t recognize in this performance is there are four people on the stage ,that’s it. No back up vocalist no backing track just for guys who are masters at their craft. The ability of Roger Taylor, to play drums and harmonize with one of the greatest vocalist of all times is so underrated.
Couldn’t agree more mate. If it weren’t for Freddy being an absolute vocal master, RT would easily be lead singer of Queen. And he wasn’t just playing basic beats whilst performing those vocals, he’s drumming his heart out and never skipping a beat. Absolute masters at work.
Roger is at the top next to Freddie maybe a smidge higher.. MHO
@@stevenseul361 He’s definitely a master in his own right, but definitely not higher.
You think that's impressive you should see what rush does with 3
Just wanted to post the same comment! Roger does a great job, and they build up a tremendous full sound as if there was a huge band on stage.
When asked his favorite instrument to play he replied “the audience”! His interactions are timeless.
When the drummers backing vocal is better than most modern pop singers
Freddie is the best frontman ever. Im an old baby boomer and can't get enough of him and Queen.
I’m not sure what is better:hearing and seeing Freddie’s magic, or see Anna being consumed by that magic.
Awesome reaction. ❤
I could not decide either ? So, isn't having both of them combined the best of both worlds ? 👏👏👏We sadly lost Freddie way to early 😥 but still cherish his art - and Anna adds perfectly to great music and singing - imo
I am so grateful for you guys!
@@annavaskelainen Just (try to) accept: You deserve all the respect and appreciation you get 👏🎼🎶🤝👏
You could say It's A Kind Of Magic.
Also as a funny side note: when Anna switchs to English while I'm reading the captions (almost but not the same words) is like "damn, why I have this weird feeling?... oh wait" lol
Don't you guys tell me I'm the only one! ;) Great reaction (and analysis), seriously
Freddie and Queen were special - true artists in every sense of the world, all extremely talented musicians. They really were on "another level." Freddie - the greatest front man ever!!
The best frontman & performer @ all times❤, Freddie Mercury ❤Queen love from Philippines 🇵🇭
"I won't be a Rock Star. I will be a Legend." -Freddie Mercury🔥
Classic after classic after classic, it's crazyyyyy...Freddie was one of the greatest frontman of all time, with a vocal control like no other (ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes with immense precision and shift through registers effortlessly). The all members brought something unique + the fact that they all wrote songs is something that many people don't realize:)). Queen broke barriers in music and took it to another dimension.
Thank YOU, Anna!!! Can't wait for your analysis 🎶♥️🎶🔥
Can you pleeease include on your list an artist from my country with an incredible, unique and therapeutic voice that soothes the soul: MARO:)
He really was!
I couldn't have said it better than you and actually used pretty similar words in this analysis that you haven't seen yet at the time of writing this reply thehehee!
Maro? What would be the best songs to hear from that artist?
Hope to see you in the live chat MarA! :)
The man knew what he was about.
Freddie always could sing you out of a bad time. He makes you forget about the amazing talent of the rest of Queen sometimes. For me Queen is still the best ever. Reviewed by the best! Started my Saturday off with a good one!
A classic among classics ! Queen & Freddie FOREVER!
How can anyone not love Freddie’s captivating voice and Queen’s exquisite harmonies? If you’re not familiar with Freddie’s foray into Opera, I suggest “The Golden Boy”. Thanks!
(Shout out to Roger's backing vocal support!)
Wow. In my book, that’s how you maximize your stage time and performance. You get up there, and you give it your all just like they did. You get yourself going and keep yourself going. You pour on the passion and you shoot for showmanship. And you just harness as much energy as you can, to put it into overdrive and send it all over the top. Then in the end you’ve created a great rendition for the ages. Bravo.
Well said ..
I have watched this over and over and over - never get tired of it. Absolute perfection
It's easily to fall in love with Freddie. His charisma and stage presence is unparalleled in the rock realm. Freddie is a legend with a vocal dynamics that rivets through his audience's and airways right into your soul. I miss Freddie and the magic that Queen gave me back in my youth . I want to thank you personally Anna for bringing back one of my most treasured performances by Freddie and his magnificent band Queen. He left us far too early but his legacy will live on as legends never die. ! Again. Anna, your most thoughtful, heartwarming and heartfelt comments are so much appreciated by his fans all over the world. Have a fabulous 2024 and Anna I wish you nothing but success in the coming year. Sending you always much thanks and love from Canada 👍🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️
Ron, can you start writing my intros and outros? You really know how to choose the right words! 😂
@@annavaskelainen it's comes easy when I watch you navigate your thoughts and analysis on your wonderful channel ! You inspire me ! 👍❤️
I was lucky enough to see Queen in the 1970’s. To this day I enjoy hearing them, and I especially like seeing later generations than mine enjoy them.
As a huge Queen fan I would be happy with any analysis you would like to do as your obvious love for Freddy is beautiful to see...
One of the absolute greatest showman and singer - EVER. I absolutely need a fan as well. But not for the same reason as You Anna. You are soooo beautiful that I get warm by just watching You. ❤
Thank you ...great reaction...Freddie wrote this as a tribute to Aretha Franklin...he had hoped that she would sing it one day......vestibular folds...Freddie’s vibrato🤩
Gifted performers at the top of their game. Freddie's onstage presence was incredible. I was lucky enough to see them in 1982, Kemper arena. I was 14. Never forget that performance.
I would LOVE to hear YOU sing , your little demo was soooo sweet .........Please !❤
He's the best front man ever. No one gonna argue about it, Love Them!!!
Haha you manage to make finnish sound sexy; on the other hand you really have a lot of musical insight. Very professional explanation about what makes Freddie special
😂👍🎵
anna your beauty remains the
same ❤❤❤------ in korea
Queen forever ^.^
Saw them on their third stop on this tour. Had just turned 14 and it still stands as my favorite of all time.
Millions of us out here know exactly what you’re going through. No better band exists bc each one of them is a quintessentially top of the top grand musician and composer! But we absolutely adore Freddie and he is irreplaceable !! 🌹👑
Another great one from this concert is Save Me, truly mesmerising
Greetings and many thanks from Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦
More Queen & Freddie please
Perhaps Also him with Montserrat Cabelle ❤
I am almost speechless. First, it's so easy to get emotional when I hear Queen. Secondly, I wish I had a music teacher/coach like you when i was younger. I am very grateful to have found your channel. Please analyze Freddie Mercury singing with Montserrat Caballe. 😊
thank you so much for a wonderful reaction. Watch many people do this, but he comments only pick up a portion of the story. They do so much here, the band is great, the harmonies are amazing both in terms of voices and arrangement and, yes, Freddie is his usual one-of-a-kind performer and singer. Your analysis reflects not only your own knowledge but how and why the choices made matter. Thanks again.
Saw them early 80's. By the last song of the night, NO-ONE was sitting. #WeMissFreddie
You are absolutely enchanting, I enjoyed your reaction so much. I'd love to see you react to more of this concert, especially Save Me. Also Love of my life live at Wembley and Is this the World We Created at Live Aid.
Queen was my first concert as a kid! Freddie was amazing! They were all incredible!
Who wants to Live Forever! if you haven't already done it. It's BEAUTIFUL!!!
I can be short here: legendary band, legendary voice!
I might steal this one from you
7:47 we all are fans. Thanks Anna. Best male vocalist imo
I love the “Inner back up singer” comment. This song, with its call and response gospel style, just gets you involved and you have to sing the back up to Freddie, there’s not an alternative option! I’ve belted along with this in the car so many times 😂 And Freddie’s vocals on this performance are A1, legendary. And Roger Taylors high harmonies are amazing too
Yup, it is totally in call and response style! That and the scales Freddia used made me say that "Gospel-rock"-comment!
What a fine reaction - as good as I’ve seen for any song. Your expertise and delivery are excellent. Loved your use of your native language with subtitles. Thank you so much…
I would like to see a reaction to "Save Me" from the same live show where Freddie is singing in a less dramatic fashion and maybe the video of "Who Wants to Live Forever" from the sound track of the movie "Highlander".
Legendary, forever, there are no more words ❤❤❤❤❤
What an incredible performance. They were a master band and Freddy was one of a kind! Thanks for the great reaction!
Beutifull soulful anjelic smooth heartfelt wonderful flowing ❤😊
Wow, this video makes me so happy. What a beautiful description. Genius stands the test of time
Young lady you have a very beautiful voice yourself, i could listen to you talk for hours.

Queen fans? We're always here...yes to more Queen! You could spend the rest of your life analysing Freddie and Queen and I'd be here for every one of them.
Oh that would be easy analysing just them from now on hahah 😂
So many nuances in their work!
Thank you for your support!
Love Queen! Try Freddie’s performance in 1976 Hyde Park as he sings You Take My Breath Away and hypnotizes the crowd!

Brilliant performance - beautiful and joyful reaction! 👏👏👏
Hi you! 😊
Always happy to see you are still part of my music fam!

@@annavaskelainen Same to you ♥
I feel your reaction, even though i don't speak Finish. Love it!
Anna, Queen's album "A Kind of Magic" (1986), used in the HBO made for cable movie 'The Highlander' (a ripping good film, by the way) had some excellent tracks on it. One of the best was 'Who Wants to Live Forever'. Freddy really shows his range and sings his ass off on that track. So good. The copy I have also includes an instrumental version, which is also excellent.
Most educational reaction I've ever heard for that peformance. Congrats !
Thank you very much!
Hi Anna. Thank you so much for your brilliant reaction. I would love to hear more Queen reactions
Best wishes , Jerry ,Cape Town South Africa.
Thank you for popping in and writing me a comment Jerry! 😊 Be well!
Hey Anna. Just discovered you yesterday and am really enjoying your reactions. Especially queen and pearl jam. You're terrific.
Welcome to my music family! Hope to keep you around for MANY more musical adventures!
Thank you, Anna. From dallas, tx.
Look at Queen you take my breath away live 76 hyde park live.
Mixing English and Finnish commentary is such a nice touch.
Thank you very much!
I started this channel during lock-down to be able to help my Finnish students better. However, things escalated quickly and as my channel grew to be more international, I started adding CC as well as speaking more English. I still have both too young and too old Finnish students to be able to read written Finnish. I've actually gotten tons of positive feedback on the bilingualism which I am of course very happy about!
you need to react to the song called " SAVE ME " taken from the same show in montreal in 1981
Someone is in love with Freddie.
Well, here comes another Queen phase for me then, gotta listen to Freddie for about a month straight now to get enough of it, at least for a while... Also, i love how you explain techniques by demonstrating them, makes it much more easy to understand and try out. Thanks, Anna.
Thank YOU. 🥰
6:06 in this moment, the look on your face is the realization that you said that you are going to explain this and you are going to watch the unexplainable. The actual drummer and guitarist are just going along. Actually, the guitarist broke his string and if you pay close enough attention, you can see him going in the back and changing it in less than one minute and coming out to harmonize. Freddie actually watching for him. Roger on the drums stuck singing as long as Freddie wants to improvise. It’s a whole thing 😂❤🫶🏻 9:22 I love your response!
I've been listening to Queen for decades and never knew that he used hammer vibrato. All I ever knew was that he sounded spectacularly unique. Now I know one of the many reasons why!!!!
(also, in my defense though... I didn't even know there was such a thing until all y'all RUclips vocal coaches told me. 😜 )
Thank you for this, Anna!!! 💗
Happy to teach you something new! 😊
Queen wasn't exactly on my playlist, but when they came on the radio I was listening to it! 🤔👍 To me, they were the definition of feel good music. Fun reaction! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Anna, I just started listening to you as a fan. I love your analysis. I like that you don't stop too often. I am a singer. I used to sing in a community chorale for 12 years. I was a baritone and sang second tenor my last year. Good work. Take care.
outstanding performance by all the band a roger taylor, presented by a beautiful sweet girl, thanks anna
Great review! You are very knowledgeable and I loved your comment about your "Inner backing singer"! Keep reviewing songs please!!!
Another great reaction, I love your passion for music!
MORE QUEEN ! 😃👑🔥
Its great to see you and Freddie together on the same screen 🤣he is legend!! Nick
Happy New Year Anna thx for this we will never see another Freddie Mercury.
Absolutely loved the reaction and trying to follow the subtitles, during your sexy dialect! Such a pretty language. ❤
I think the video that shows Freddie, and Queen, at their most versatile, for me, it would have to be the live, Live Aid 1985 video. 16 minutes of pure Queen covering several different songs and techniques. It is even more spectacular when you understand that Freddie was recovering from recent surgery on his throat, and his surgeon had advised him not to sing that day. Also, the way the audience reacted to them, and their performance was outstanding, and reputedly stole the show.
The guy on the drums is the one who actually did THE high notes in Bohemian Rhapsody.
You're an excellent teacher. Tnaks for reacting to Queen 👋👋👋
Great reaction and analysis, as always. I appreciate the subtitles because while I am an English speaker, I have to admit that Finnish is much more pleasing to the ear than English.
Freddie was one of the best examples of the difference between a singer and a performer.
Since we are talking about classic rock, I recently discovered the Canadian three-piece band, Triumph. They were an Award-Winning band in the '70s and '80s but were often overshadowed by Rush, because, well, it's Rush. I think you would have a lot to talk about with lead singer and guitarist, Rik Emmett's, voice. He had a soaring voice and is a phenomenal guitarist at the same time. The rest of the band is great too. I hope you have a chance to check out "Fight the Good Fight" from their US Festival concert in 1983 (link below). Aside from his vocals, the whole band puts on an awesome show and they have one of the best outros I've seen in a while. I'm guessing this was the last song of their set. Great work and keep fighting the good fight. See what I did there?😉

Aww thank you for the Finnish appreciation moment! Means a lot. 😊🙏
Oh really hope this one will get more votes!
This performing, this voice is from another world, from another universe! Freddie was not singing, he felt and lived the songs, these emotions transported with music and lyrics! After listening to this song more than hundred times, it still makes my eyes „sweat“ ;-)
I'd like to hear your opinion on George Michael's take on this song for the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert.
Love your reactions, keep it up!
How I love to watch the reactions without being filled with... mmm, it's a thrill. I just want to smear myself from head to toe.
Nice reaction, No auto tune back then gave the artist much more freedom in their live performances. Freddie is a perfect example of that, never 2 live performances the same.
Love how you get excited and switch back and forth from English Norwegian. I’m from south Texas and used to people switching from English to Spanish
Norwegian? 😂
@@annavaskelainen Sorry I should have said Finnish. Or could it be Sweedish as I understand it Sweedish is commonly spoken in Finland
This old guy loves your reactions and of course your beauty. And Queen
The man was awesome. He could rapid fire words pretty clearly. The one song in mind would be STONE COLD CRAZY from the Shear Heart attack album, my personal favorite. Also on the album Roger Taylor the drummer sings a song called TENEMENT FUNSTER!! Probably a top 5 Queen song for me. He is the unspoken hero. He does the super high harmonies and on this song a awesome Rock vocal!! Also Brian May sings a folk song called "39". Gorgeous song. There is a great live video. Great Channel!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
I've known all the lyrics to Stone Cold Crazy for years but always get tripped up when trying to sing along with Freddie!
@@ellet6560 Haaa indeed! The man was awesome! My favorite album. ☮️
Roger also takes lead vocals on I'm in Love With My Car
@@jimwilcox2964 Ahh yaaa that's right!! ☮️
Wow your intro speech made me interested in learning finnish...
as someone more connectedto your culture through your best goal scorer than your culture. love the reaction.
Four instruments,
Five microphones,
Four musical wizards,
No autotune.
yup!!
love you great video
It's been said a number of times already, but I'd love to see your reaction to "Who wants to Live Forever"...not the most famous of the songs by Queen, but its possibly one of the best for the range Freddie has to go through in the delivery
The band is sometimes overlooked because Freddie is such a great frontman, but they are all truly great musicians. Brian May on lead guitar, and Roger Taylor are vastly underrated. John Deacon and Taylor keep this rocking and Taylor's voice perfectly compliments Freddie's.
You mentioned backup singers and singing early in your reaction, so I was very surprised that you didn't mention Roger Taylor's remarkable backing vocals (while drumming) near the end of the song.
I hesitated about commenting on this one. I was never a Queen *fan*, I was a Queen admirer. I always liked their work, but never fawned over them. However, they were an instrumental part of my musical upbringing, all the way from 'Sheer Heart Attack', so to hear your analysis some 40 years after the Montreal concert which was shown on the BBC makes me weep for Freddie's death and the demise of greatness. As usual, you bring a magical analysis to that greatness. Your appreciation and respect is self evident. God bless you.
🥰
You need to watch the full concert - Live Aid. It will blow your mind. Youre welcome.
A "monument" of music, still a vulnerable and sensitive artist - in my opinion. I admit being pretty hyped for your reaction Anna. One-time watching won't do to get all the details of your Anna-lysis. But it's always worth the time 😊👍🎼🎶👍
Anna , hyvä juttu mitä seurata !
Kiitos ja lisää
Not only did Freddie take you to church, he made you speak English.
So pretty ~~
How did you keep yourself from singing along? I could see the excitement and enjoyment of this song on your face. I always learn something from your reactions. This time when you pointed out the major pentatonic scale, I realized so many songs use those notes. Is there videos of you singing? Hope all is well there and you are staying warm. I know you had some super cold weather. Any time you do reactions of older bands I will be watching.
It was HARD and at times, I couldn't resist like you probably noticed.. 😂
Oh pentatonic scales are the most used ones at least in western music for sure and once you hear them,
you hear them EVERYWHERE! 😂
I recently uploaded a shorts video imitating Finnish singers and I have two music videos up in my channel. Hope this helps!
One of the most enlightening comments I've heard about how Brian May's spectacular guitar work integrates so well with Freddie's voice is that May's guitar is "singable." It works in "breaths" the same way that singing does. You can sing the guitar solos.
