This game is basically ripp off of game called Special operations: Nemesis strike. They even share the same missions like the flodded city and moving on the hovercraft. But yea fun game.
You know? When I was a kid I noticed it, but coming back all these years later and watching this again, it's really striking the contrast between Rios and Salem. The whole thing. Rios seems aged and always demonstrates a deeper examination of the situation than what's being told, wondering if people are being straight with him after putting the pieces together and finding no possible way that what he's being told is truth, while Salem takes everything at face value and is really either slow to catch on or unconcerned with the consequences of their actions as long as he doesn't feel the effects and is well paid. He saw the helicopter go down without a trace of a missile and he didn't think "that's suspicious" when told that it was shot down. Tyson on the other hand silently called bullshit and waited until they were off the record to discuss it with Salem, who, like Kieth David's character in "THEY LIVE" was all too willing to write it off. I guess this game has a lot of similarity to "They Live" in terms of theme. Watching this gives me a new appreciation for the game.
The gunfight between Rios, Salem and Clyde in Min Soo's Cargo Plane is a scene that is permanently ingrained into my brain from childhood. God I miss this game.
Yeah, that whole "Captain goes down with the ship thing" doesn't usually work like that. If everyone else has been successfully evacuated from the ship, and the captain is able to evacuate himself, then he is under no obligation to go down with it, if there's nothing he can do to prevent its sinking. All the saying really means is that the captain will remain on board the ship to coordinate the evacuation, ensuring that all passengers and/or crew are safely off the ship before he leaves the vessel himself. It also implies that the captain will do anything within his power to prevent the ship's sinking. Alternatively, the captain may delegate the evac coordination to certain segments of his crew while he and other crewmembers work on keeping the ship afloat, if he thinks he can.
Don't get me wrong, the game itself was great and all, but those cutsecenes were made with so much care and love. They were something different. I'm still stunned today how good they look.
54:57 makes me tear up in laughter everytime. I remember beating this with my friend yearsss ago on professional difficulty and we both died here because it was so fucking hilarious. Love it.
its been years since I last played but I can say I like the 40th day in second this first and TDC I just saw the joke in this but you might have to play all three to get it
Even their character models looked better than TDC's. In TDC, Rios looked like a old scrub & Salem looked like a hillbilly who was just kicked out a metal band.
And then....EA make the mistake of killing off Murray in The 40th Day, which ruined the series for good. The Devil's Cartel, was just the final nail in the coffin.
40th Day was actually pretty good, The Devils Cartel was utter trash, i didn't get the whole Salem turns bad twist. The Army of Two franchise went down the drain. And now we wait for the remastered version.
etproductions661 i loved the idea of Rios and Salem going off to form their own PMC and training operatives so they can prevent disasters worldwide, the idea of salem turncoating was also great, its just the cartel part wasnt fleshed out
Gotta disagree there, Kent on the whole Salem turning against Rios. 40th Day was good, I didn't like Murray being killed off (why the hell was she even there?!) and this whole Salem gets left behind, burnt and then goes nuts was bullshit. The fact of Salem even wanting to run would be bullshit. He actually would want to probably stay because it's more action. So I think I'm gonna skip Devil's Cartel because it was such a bullshit move that wasn't needed. Out of Salem and Rios, I prefered Salem cuz he was more interesting. Then they just turn him into a bad guy. Prototype 2 all over again. Dx
Salem wanted to run because Alpha and Bravo were there. Had it just been Salem and Rios they probably would've left the place in bits, but the lives of rookies were on the line. In 40th day, Salem risked his life to save millions of lives. (This is what the game has followed through in TDC from what i know) Rios shot him. In that first mission he had seen the same thing. An innocent life for theirs. And since there were rookies, he saw that the possible trade off was not worth it. I did kinda wish they made Bravo go with Salem.
Man, I loved playing this game with my bro Sasha when it game out during high school but watching this years later I forgot how well written and acted the characters of Rios & Salem were! Thanks for uploading!
+shan vanzyme I think this whole game was from Alice's doing. I mean, she saw the characters were off the grid and were in a convienent location to kill the senator. She knew that they were in on the conspiracy of what Clyde was up to. She used them to and when she was captured that was when SSC was onto her evil plot. As far as the story goes, it could be that Dalton wasn't the real villain here. He felt just as betrayed if Alice told him that they went rogue to kill a senator... which the DLC completely throws my conspiracy theory out the window.
Back when cutscenes were mind-blowing and gameplay was just about having fun and enjoying the story. We didn't care about nothing as long as it was a great game.
Anyone else notice that in the begining of the game on first mission, salem has a flame tattoo on his left arm, and later even in the CGI cutscenes its gone.
Honestly this was the best game in my opinion. This and 40th day. Wasnt really a fan of the devils cartel because of the switch up but still. We need one for the next gen :(
I remember playing this game and being really annoyed at Salem for always shitting on Rios for questioning the higher ups and how their benefactors use them as fodder. He’s clearly one badass soldier with a conscience and Salem just talks down on him about it. Nobody even acknowledged that his “conspiracy theory” (before that term was so controversial) was right all along.
A game that could have had a good sequel but didnt what a shame this game was way futher advanced with how customizable things was and even the story with conspiracies and 9-11 terrorist plots and info trades just sounds so good
An elite hacker, obviously. But I'd like to think S3kshun8 to be an Artificial Intelligence. Cool, eh? What can go wrong when you got a A.I friend with you? He he.
This game was ahead of its time.
Shame the 3rd game was terrible.
@@carlthomaswilliamsjr.2995 i only played the first two, prolly a good thing i did thaf
It seriously was. I wish it would have been now days with all the advancements in technology we’ve had.
@@carlthomaswilliamsjr.2995 3rd game was a good shooter but a bad Army of Two.
Like Ace Combat Assault Horizon. Good game but a bad Ace Combat
The golden age of gaming
Now is fallen age of gaming

Honestly, this whole series is underrated.
XYaBoiiDeeBo25 This is one of the first games I ever played when I first started playing when I was 7.
He'll yeah bro
I think the same
Damn the original was so good and the graphics were good for that time
Slayer _Boss12 Big Facts

Slayer _Boss12 One of the first games I ever played, came out when I was 6 and I started playing video games at 7.
“Don’t worry man this war ain’t ending anytime soon”
IT STILL HASN’T ENDED YET
Most of the US Troops will be leaving ASTAN soon and of course there is a huge demand now for Security Contractors.
Didn't they go home years ago?
Ooof true to his word lol
Staff Sargeant says they can't leave until all the brass is picked up

Did you play all of the army of twos because Salem actually turns into a villian and Rios was paralyzed and they got replaced with new rookies 😤🤦🏾♂️

Still the best game out of the series. Everything else got too dark and depressing.
same goes for Battlefield Bad Company
“This bill will pass!”
“Over my dead body it will.”
I’ve forgotten many cutscenes from this game but those two lines will never leave my head
This game was amazing, it needs more credit.

that gunfight in the plane was fucking epic
my favorite part was when Tyson hits his head on the button
Am I the only guy who noticed that Rios's voice was very black sounding?
+Andrew Zinner I noticed it too. I think that happens often with the who are considered morally right characters.
He's Hispanic
Yep. Reminded me of the team leader in Bad Company. Solid voice though.
nope
He's a Hispanic dude, more than likely Puerto Rican, who was raised in Brooklyn. Might be what's giving him the "Black" sounding voice I suppose.
4:57 they look fuckin terrifying in this shot
5:03 What an image. You couldn't make these guys look anymore beast than that!
Rios is much more smarter.
the conversation at 53:50~53:58 is hilarious XD

I remember each and every word in this game from hours of replaying it with my dad
