The idea of the Voyager Probes being alone in the celestial void is so heartbreaking. I want us to develop far faster travel technologies and go rescue them. They deserve the best of us, having given far more than we could have ever imagined.
Commenting to boost the algorithm bc I don't want this segment to go away! I love hearing about space news, and Simon is one of the few I can watch without my attention drifting so far I stop processing the information
8:00 - Not only Da Vinci, in 2025 Caltech is sending Venus Life Finder (if I remember right) probe to Venus. It's small probe, launched on Rocket Lab Electron, but it will check Venus atmosphere from up close. It's also interesting from the point of rockets getting cheaper and probes getting more efficient, than in the past. There's a place for large probes (which are getting more sofisticated and robust), but various tasks can be done by smaller probes for less.
Even the SLS's massively overbudget launch tower isn't ready and won't BE ready. The video seems to imply it is expensive but otherwise ready for Artemis II (much less III) ... it isn't. Starship isn't ready either, yet, but at a planned 20+ launches next year, at least it looks like it will be, despite the delays to date. And it is cheaper and faster to launch even a dozen expendable Starships then a single SLS.
So for weekly ongoing world updates in the Whistlerverse, we've got: "This Week in Space" on Celestium, "Florida Man Friday" on Brain Blaze, and "The Situation Room" on Warfronts. Are we going to get a weekly list of horrific crimes from around the world on Casual Criminalist next? Or would that ruin Simon's day too much? : P
I don’t know about weekly, but an annual ‘updates’ episode for both channels would be good. Like any new developments with any of the cases covered previously.
SpaceX starship is already part of Artemis. It's the HLS lander. If SLS was cancelled the only thing that would need replaced is the ride to the HLS. There are multiple different options to either still use the Orion or switch to dragon.
There's a good chance the SLS replacement wont be entirely from SpaceX. The leading contender is thiught to be a variant of the so-called "Bridenstack": a Falcon Heavy carrying Orion and a Centaur upper stage.
Goddamnit Simon, I can't keep them all straight when you start renaming and coming out with new channels lol Maybe add a little WCU for whistler channel universe, and it'd be a little more obvious! Although, admittedly the "formerly astrographics" saved me here in this case luckily lol
Sort of not surprised on SLS being potentially cut... while people were "dunking" on Musk for rocket failures I knew that NASA's attempt was way, way behind where SpaceX was. Really big rockets are really, really hard to get to work. This isn't Musk cheerleading but rather pointing at the ignorance of the general public as to what NASA is working on and where they are at with a similar project.
I’m torn on SLS, it is a budget boondoggle and way behind schedule, but we’ve already put so much into it. It really is the question of the “sunk cost fallacy”. The falcon heavy is probably the best option to rescue the Artemis program. The mission might have to be done in more steps, but it would be both faster and cheaper. Unfortunately Blue Origin’a New Glen rocket is not yet operational and wouldn’t have the ability to accomplish the mission in its current block. It will probably be competitive with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and is the other big contender in the future of space launches (along with small launch providers like Rocket Lab). The one upside for Artemis is that Starship development is well underway and should be able to deliver the lander in time. The big hang up was the test launch cadence and the FFA has cleared them for significantly more launch’s this next year. Both the development of Blue Origin’a New Glen and SpaceX’s Starship have been delayed significantly by the slow processing at the FFA and EPA (they have the speed and efficiency of the Department of Licensing…😅). In part it is the increase in the demand for launch licenses, but also due to beuqacratic inefficiencies and over regulation.
I had zero idea Simon had this channel, I already subscribe to several and now I find this (which since I love space stuff I immediately subscribed) now I wonder how infinite the amount of his channels are?
RE: SLS. It should have been canceled years ago. It's build on 1970s technology which was expensive then and is ridiculously expensive now. It is a life support system for the aerospace industry, and pork for the federal government. NASA would have been better off developing a clean sheet design than insisting on "Space Shuttle Derived Technology". It's already been eclipsed by Superheavy and the Starship. To continue the development of SLS would be to engage in the sunk cost fallacy.
NASA did originally try a clean sheet design, the Venturestar project but couldn't make it work. Going back to proven, well understood space shuttle technology was supposed to guarantee a quick, cheap, development process.
Go back to Apollo, Nasa used the same ploy, cancelling certain stages of the development which led to Apollo 8, then testing LM, and after 9&10, Apollo11 landing.
Seeing how inflated the moon landing plans are, I think that a review should really happen. Not a complete stop, but a more humble approach, aiming for a safe and reliable means of transport first, and only then trying to set up a station on the moon.
My personal thoughts is we are seeing a planet in its birthing stage I feel like even tho Venus is billions of years old it’s stuck in a planet child like state. If we were able to move it to a different orbit it would continue a process similar to what happened to planets in our early solar system
I've often thought that the Great American Empire would quietly fade into the night, but it is becoming increasingly clear that this is the way America ends, not with a whimper but with a Bang.
Bass during image transitions is no good for car listening, had to click away so as to preserve my cars speakers. Love the videos though just trying to give feedback for max success
I don't know if all the jumping around on screen is necessary to keep our attention but it doesn't bother me I guess. Although I am commenting about it so that's added interest at least.
Artemis will be scrapped, Space X will be contracted to run moon missions on a fixed price contract with the contract being apparoved by Elon Musk. It will fail on the contract that will keep on being regotiated upwards to cover Space X's losses. You don't need to be a clairvoyant to see that happening.
Oh look another Simon channel. Wait. I'm already subbed. Haven't seen anything from this channel in awhile. The SLS is a financial disaster. Some say it was never intended to work. It's a legacy dinosaur pork barrel project by the usual government and military contractors with open ended forever contracts with unlimited budgets and delays. Let's not forget how Boeing left astronauts stranded in space and it's up to SpaceX to go up and bring them home safely. SpaceX has made incredible advancements in America's space launch capabilities and we are the world's leader. Boeing Lockheed and ULA are very much last century pork barrel corporations than make unlimited billions for taking decades to accomplish nothing.
I dunno if it was ever explained, but he changed his channel names away from the "-ographics" naming convention (Warographics changed too, pretty sure there were others). My assumption is he doesn't work with whoever started Geographics/Biographics or whatever those channels were called anymore, and now he's distancing his work from theirs 🤷🏼♂️ Celestium isn't bad though, better than Warfronts I guess
I truly think SLS should have been canceled the very day they landed the falcon heavy for the first time. Probably better off for everyone if it’s canceled and they adopt starship instead
@@jaycie5021 welcome to aerospace buddy, all designs have problems. One of the two is meant to be thrown away after you fix em all 😂 the other is a reusable and reserviceable vehicle like it should be in the first place. Would have been fine if you were saying that years and years ago. The tech is pretty mature now and CLEARLY feasible at scale and in the long term. Single use rocketry is dying a slow death
Simon could read the Dow Report in a RUclips video and I’d still watch, perfect inflection and delivery as always
Dont give him ideas now
With the exception of consistently mispronouncing at least one important word in each episode.
Aaaaand here comes another channel
You seriously need to get a life
DowBlaze 🤔
Celestium is my favourite of the Whistler-verse channels. Keep 'em coming.
WCU!

0:00 - Chapter 1 - A huge disapointement from venus ?
8:25 - Chapter 2 - Voyager 1 is back
13:50 - Chapter 3 - Will trump cancel SLS ?
Commenting to boost the algorithm bc I don't want this segment to go away! I love hearing about space news, and Simon is one of the few I can watch without my attention drifting so far I stop processing the information
It’s a good idea.
I quite like these weekly updates, and if they help the channel grow so you can put out more in-depth videos, then I'll keep watching!
I'm digging these. If we get some of these with some in depth stuff mixed in, I'm also here for it.
I guess taking inspiration from Warographics’ ‘Situation Room’.

@--enyo-- I mean, I was kind of kidding tbh, but an episode of periodic updates about cases that have new developments would be awesome!

No good news ever comes out of Venus.
And be wary of what comes out of Uranus.

The fact that a department for eliminating government waste has been given to two people is just poetically ridiculous.
Especially the two people who will be in charge of it. Fortunately, they will have no actual power.
Love this series, thank you guys!
I forgot this channel switched names, gonna have to turn those notifications on

didn't know we could lose a space race we won so long ago... wild
Perfect video being uploaded at the perfect time before bed
We need the DAVINCI probes to go to Venus asap. To return to this hell, and to answer some of these questions.

Mars cannot support human life now nor in the future without an atmosphere

Does this remind anyone else of the Destiny storyline in the aspect of China beat American to the moon and built a secret base.🤔🧐
I wonder if this also explains why Venus seems to lack carbonate rock types helping dissolve and trap carbon dioxide and other gases.
It figures there would be no Muskrat love for NASA

At 19.32 your hand fades into the desk are you even real!

canceling SLS is to give up the idea of beating the chinese back to the moon , space x isnt close , SLS is

Inhospitable to us yes but maybe silicon-based life for school from there who knows

Why is that?

SLS CANNOT BE REPLACED BY STARSHIP, P.S.: It's pronounced "Doggie"
Venus is a new planet to our solar system and is settling down... Not sure how long but.
Isn't this how earth started?
Why should we care of Bloomberg's opinion? Is he involved in space travel technology?
Because the US is an oligarchy and billionaires have all the power.

yet another video with dodgy sound fella. You need a new editor this is most of your channels that have this issue now!!!!!
What’s with this guy and picking worse names for his channels
They retracted the phosphine claim shortly after it was announced. Thank god sls gets cancelled waste of time and money
There has been more potential* phosphene data since then. Not conclusive, and definitely not in the amounts that might indicate life afaik
50/50 chance SLS gets canceled……so you don’t know but you’re stating it like it’s some sort of fact? How slimy.
It's a youtube video... not an academic lecture. Calm down.
