Gary Hinds I’m seriously not a fan of videos like these that show gentrified restaurants without having the decency and respect to be patrons at restaurants that have been in the same family or had the same recipes for generations. This sends the wrong idea to some that will travel here

Well, Hattie B's is better than Prince's and so is Big Shake's when it comes to hot chicken places. Pharmacy is probably one of the best burger restaurant in Tennessee. Acme is good if you're clubbing. Mas Tacos is darn good Americanized Hispanic food. Although I prefer Red Bicycle, Crema is also very good if you're a coffee lover. Puckett's is ok. Five Daughters is darn good donuts if you don't mind paying basically $5 a donut as it's more gourmet donuts. However, I prefer the Donut Palace in Hermitage and Murfreesboro especially the M'Boro one as those are so airy and light they basically melt in your mouth. I've never been to Biscuit Love. If the food is good, go eat it as that's my philosophy in life and these are some darn good food places.

Prince's exactly. Wendell Smith's serves a better breakfast than biscuit love any day of the week. Thankfully I wont have to dine in the presence of vegetarians.

Pretty sure Prince’s is the only one that’s been around for longer than the hipster invasion. Lots of restaurants I can think of would more truly represent local flavor (if that’s really what you’re after), but they just aren’t cool to look at or in trendy neighborhoods. In general, most of Nashville isn’t really for Nashvillians anymore anyway.

I disagree. Hattie B's has a lot more flavor to go with those spices and I also like Big Shake's more when it comes to hot chicken. They also have the shrimp burger, which is darn good. Prince's might be the originator but they're far from being the best.

Biscuit love is wildly overrated, I'd much sooner recommend Germantown cafe. Best hot chicken is a little hole in the wall called pepperfire (very spicy but try the applefire to have your mind blown). Acme is meh, but i don't necessarily have an alternative recommendation for anything similar. The pharmacy is good, but overrated, with the best burger in Nashville IMO being Brown's Diner (been around forever, and not touristy at all (like most on this list) so only people who have lived in Nashville a long time know about it). San Antonio taco co is my personal favorite taco joint, and is very inexpensive. BBQ is way too controversial for me to touch. Just know wherever you go it'll probably be phenomenal in its own special way. Five Daughter's definitely deserves a spot on this list, so I can't complain there. But besides those I would recommend Merchant's on Broadway for fantastic modern takes on southern classics. Adele's for any hardcore foodies. Vui's Kitchen for some of the best Vietnamese you'll ever have with the benefit of having this edible cookie dough shop right next door (at the germantown location at least). Anyways I hope someone finds this useful.

I’ve lived in Nashville nearly all my life, and the only places I’ve eaten in this list are Prince’s and the farmers market. I’ve been to Acme several times for drinks, but I’ve never eaten there. I also love Goo Goos, but I’ve never been to the shop.

My favorite chicken place is MacDougals. I like it more than Hattie B's or Princes. I have only had Princes once and Hattie B's twice, but I was disappointed with Hattie B's both times. I think Princes is the best option for hot chicken and I don't think they were greasier than Hattie B's, but the best chicken in Nashville is MacDougals. I really love Gabby's burgers also (by the abandoned Sounds stadium), if you can figure out when they are open. Pharmacy burger is also a good choice, as well as Burger Up. For BBQ, I would pick Edleys or Jack Cawthon's before Martins and I still have to try the dry rub ribs at Peg Leg Porker.

Yup, I can already tell they were for tourist. The whole set up inside didnt give that mom and pop, hole-in-a-wall vibe.

I love me some Mas Tacos Por Favor, whenever I pass it, I have to at least get me some tortilla soup with a big bag of tortilla strips. Hattie B's is a no brainer, you can't beat the hot chicken but I also like the sides. We've got at least 50 of those red plastic drink cups around the house. But 5 Daughters you have to get there pretty early or else they're gonna run out of the donuts you want, at least the one near The Nations, but their raspberry donuts are amazing. I am gonna try some of the other places in the video.
