I've been using the Kirkland for a couple weeks. For me, the hury is still out. It has done well for chiken and burgers, but tonight, I did a rack of baby backs, and I used a snake/minion meathod. The problem I found with this charcoal is that it doesn't stack too well. The charcoal burns well, but does not burn out fast enough, as weird as that sounds. The temperature kept creeping past 300° and I had to put water on the coals a couple times to keep it from getting too hot. I did also notice that it does smoke more in the beginning, but it did get better after about 30 min or so. Tomorrow, I am going to do a couple pork shoulders on the WSM 18" and see how that goes. If I can keep the temperature aroumd 250° or so for 6-8 hrs and the price of the charcoal stays lower that others, I will keep using it and modify my cooking around it, which is what we all seem to do regularly. Smoke on 🤘
@@gregorystatt5562 smoke on! 😀 thanks for letting us all know what your real life smoking experiences have been. My second bag seems to not be as smoky as the 1st. Maybe it had a higher moisture content and is now drying out further. Thanks to you and other viewers I’ve learned a lot about charcoal.
I actually bought the boomer product awhile back for $10 for 2 bags off OfferUp. I thought it was great for offset and cooking with the vortex. It failed my expectations with the snake method though. This afternoon I stopped by and bought the Costco brand just to try it out because the price point was sweet. However, I’m going to my local Ace Hardware this weekend and buying a bag of B&B to see how that performs with the snake method.
@@stevensolano1658 hello Steve thanks for letting me know. I haven’t tried the snake method so that’s a good insight. I hear a lot of positive talk about B&B. Let me know what you think about it after you try it. I might give it a shot too.
I only have 1 chimney so I used lighter fluid to keep the comparisons fair. But I agree with you, chimney is the way to go, no risk of aftertaste. Thanks for watching!
@@jerrynewman7014 the Boomer only has one chimney and to make it fair I used lighter fluid for both. And as I pointed out, I didn’t cook anything. Thanks for watching Jerry.

Kirklands Irish whiskey is pretty good too and pairs well with grilling.
I love the smoke on charcoal. Everyone else seems to not like it. Am I weird?
Nope not weird, you do you Adam.

@@BoomerOnLostPrairie brother you deserve a follower!
Thank you for this. I work at Costco and have been scared to try the Kirkland
Hello Ken, thanks for watching
kirklands signature = Royal Oak
Could be, burns hot like Royal Oak.
I like the millennial brand myself. I use it in my kettle and WSM for a few years now and wished they kept it stock year round
@@christopherl.2593 thanks for the feedback, glad you are getting the results you like.
Boomer chimney starter is needed haha

Millennial here.. I came to say the same thing
@@stevensolano1658 thanks for watching Steven. I hope all of your cooks go well.
He lost me when he used lighter fluid. Boomer, get a chimney, lighter fluid leaves a taste and is bad for the environment.

I think it's the same stuff just repackaged
Humm, I think you are just trolling me
Kingsford is not good for you.
Hey Nate Fox, tell me more about the health effects, maybe we all could learn something.
explain why.
