As an Oregonian, I started nodding when u mentioned the 'cold I can handle..rain I can handle...but the cold and the rainy..that is too much'. nothing hurts so bad as painful cold rain biting into to you. I cannot tell you how many times I have paused for an hour or two(in my tent) to let the rain pass by here in the Cascade Mountains.
I've been watching a lot of your vids lately. Love how you keep it honest. And don't sugarcoat s***! And you don't focus on the latest, newest, and most expensive stuff. One of my top three favorite hiking channels to watch.
@@KyleHatesHiking, I mentioned this before, but if you haven't yet you should check out First Church of the Masochist. He started in Key West at new year's, and he's currently on the AT in Virginia. Heading up into Canada if the border is open.
Dude, you always have a great soundtrack on your videos. The videos are great, in and of themselves, but the music puts it over the top. My compliments.
I was camping in a tent, working on helicopters in the Horn of Africa, in 2014 during the Ebola Outbreak. Wasn’t 100% sure I’d make it back. I’ve seen a lot of places in the world. More than most can say at 35. But I am jealous of how much more of our country you have seen. I may never get a chance to do a thru hike…Married with kids. I enjoy watching all you guys enjoy doing all this stuff.
When I saw you guys drive away after I yelled at you about parking on the side of the road, I felt so accomplished that I didn't even need to hike that day and decided to pay it forward by giving my parking spot to someone else.
Enjoyed the video. I got out for the first time over the weekend myself. I'm no distance hiker, but I got a good camping trip in over Friday to Sunday. Had to work Memorial Day. Thank you for thanking all who served. I served myself and I love watching these tough hikes. Oh to be young again.
I climbed Old Spec when I was in high school in 1968. I remember so well how beautiful the view was. I am 71 now and my hiking days are over but it is good to see that it is still beautiful.
I was hiking this same area at the same exact time of year on my thru-hike. Tough section of trail to come off the couch and hike for sure. Thanks for sharing, Flies seemed much worse in 2017!😵🤘🕓
Couldn’t even imagine how difficult it was coming down E. Baldpate in the rain. Sketchy is an understatement. Dangerous for sure. Long Mtn. was a bear on the east side. West side not as difficult. Quintessential Maine hike for sure. When I was there ran into the guy who has the running record for the loop at about 9 hours. Pretty sick! Thanks for sharing.
Crazy timing on this video, I climbed the baldpates on Sunday, sucks you had to do them in the rain. Planning to do the whole loop later in the summer. Thanks for sharing
As a Mainer I am ashamed of the needles on the side of the road. Though I am glad you enjoy hiking here. Keep up the great videos! FYI I did Caribou Speckled Mountain by the Wild River that weekend. You were not kidding about cold and rain! We have warmed up since.
I'm digging the narration style with your recent videos. I just watched one of Dan's and for the life of me I can't understand why he has 100k subs and you haven't cracked 20k. Life isn't fair sometimes.
That looks like an awesome loop! At least first couple days looks like some decent weather. Ladder section looked like fun. Blows my mind you did these kind of trips solo at such a young age 👍
That rain and fog looks like our NH48 finish! Thanks for posting this! We are interested in this, but Short n Slow is going to need at least three nights!
Bro, you're editing is getting really good! More hike vids!!! :) Hope you two can get out here to the West this summer. TRT, JMT, PCT, Wonderland, Timberland... somethings...
So even when you hike with someone, you’ll split up along the way if you’re going at different paces and just meet at camp or down the trail a ways? I love this idea. I’m always stuck hiking with slower people. To bad I doubt they would be down for me leaving them all behind lol
I would like to go there as well. I’d like Maine lobster. I’m only 82 years old. I’m happy. I like your travels. They help since I don’t travel. Thank you!!
Oh hon. Rain isn't the worst case scenario. You got down the Lichen Slide safely. Worst case scenario is you or Flossie would have had to fire your energency beacon because one or both of you didn't. Great hike. Thankyou for sharing.
Did the Isolation, Davis and Stairs Loop hike the same weekend. We got snow Friday night at elevation. Why filter your water if you're just going to boil it anyway? Glad to see you picked up the trail trash! We need more stewards...
There were a couple of clips that were so cinematic I’d blurt out “what a cool effect!” If it wasn’t for clips of Flossy draining or cheesy cigars (which had me rolling on the floor laughing) I’d think I was watching a Nat Geo special. Well done, sir.
Great vid dude stoked for the summer. What do you think ab rain pants? I do a good amount of backpacking mostly weekend warrior shit but im hitting the Colorado trail July 1st and am wondering if i should pick a pair up.
Awesome video. I film most of my trips and one of the reasons I don't post the footage publicly is that my Mom would flip her s*beep*t at some of the things we do :)
Bro no love lost on the lobster! Im from Maine born and raised and i am NOT a lobster fan at all....ive done the Speck Pond Campsite hike from both sides...Southbound was brutal.......the trout fishing in the pond is phenomenal!

Been to Maine many times and it’s rained every single time. Don’t think it statistically gets more rain than any other state, I chalk it up to bad luck.
Hangover hike, good times. But have you been buzz hiking? A friend introduced me when she started nipping into her brandy 8km into a 120 km week long hike.

Kyle, at 8:32 do you know what kind of moss was on that tree? It looks so much like "Spanish Moss" down south but southern Virginia is it's farthest northern growth zone. Please let me know if you can. Thanks. Oh yeah, and Dan Becker sucks! LOL
I believe it is a lichen species of some sort named Unsea. I’m not positive of which one. Possibly, Unsea longissima, commonly known of old man’s beard. There are several other bearded lichens in Maine though.
