- Join us while we hike Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness end to end. The 100 Mile Wilderness is a section of the Appalachian Trail designated as the longest section without crossing a paved road. It is not quite 100 miles and goes from Abol Bridge just outside Baxter State Park to 3 miles outside Monson, ME.
Hey, thanks for the shout out. All of your ups were our downs. Fun to see it that way from the other side. Awesome treat to see Phil at the end, that's where we started our trek and where you ended! We did the food dropbox from Phil so that we didn't need to carry 10 days with us..... and also, Phil bailed two of our group out at Katahdin Ironworks Road.
This is great inspiration to finish my 100 mile NOBO edit, thank you!
Thanks for watching, I liked "your ups were our downs" lol Great meeting you out there.
That looked like a good time minus the bugs. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
1:50 the mosquito net on Summit is PERFECT! My hiking blue heeler thanks you for this fantastic idea. You rock!
Another great video by GYOD. Always great motivation...thanks!
Consider the like button smashed. Nice vid :p
awesome video!!! Did the 100 Mile Wilderness in 2011...BRUTAL but BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thanks for the memories!
Great video! I've been hiking and backpacking in New Hampshire for 40 years.I can't wait to do this hike!
Never seen a dog use a bug net, but man, I am glad you gave him one. Those bugs looked awful!
Wonderful Land !
Nice Video ~~ Thanks
and Love Good boy your dog ~~ !!!

Thanks for sharing this, was fun to revisit that section, particularly Whitecap. I did a NOBO thru-hike and considering that was the last mountain till Katahdin after 2,100+ miles, it was a pretty emotional view.
You take for granted how fit you get, I worked through the 100 mile wilderness in five days, averaging 21.08 miles per day. I can see how rough that would have been starting with that on a SOBO now!
I’m considering that hike. It was heartening seeing the two guys from Canada who are my age! If they can do it...
i have a dog named summit!! she is a 12 year old lab and my old hiking partner. I still get her out on short hikes around the local meadow. Her and i are on our way up just outside of Baxter in three days!!
Well done!
Very cool 100 miles!!!
that's a great doggy! :)
Man you guys are so lucky to have real nature like that. Over here in Europe, there's none of that. At most some woodland, most of which has people living in it.
Where in Europe are you located? I'm visiting my sister who lives in Zurich when covid is over and was hoping to do some serious hiking.
@@LatestSquash There is more nature in some of the bigger countries. But even then it's very rarely as wild as in the US.
I could the mountains were besting on U....but....U were getting tougher by the moment!!.....great job!!
I'm in NH and I've never been there but now totally have to. Nothing like the northern Appalachian. I usually explore the Whites here in NH but am now scooting over to Maine.
Maine is every thru hikers favorite state
"Unturtle" that is the perfect description.
Good job 👍
13:01 i hiked whitecap mountain from that campsite this summer, I ran up it to see the sunset :) its a fairly short 1.4 miles actually.
What kind of dog is that with you guys? Great job ad thanks for the video. Now I see what I am getting into!
Heeler
Ha, Brad and I were just in Maine this weekend talking about the 100 mile wilderness and we wondered what you were up to!
Thanks Ali, I still remember my zero days with you on the trail at that camp. That was a crazy coincidence and great recharge.
Bf i watch this just wanted to let you know ive been looking forward to this vblog backpacking trip of yours
Thanks for letting us know!
Hey man, i hope all is good, was wondering why you stoped making videos? I miss your videos man, their very inspiring..wish you all the best..keep safe
It is just a hobby and life gets busy. Maybe we need to set up a patreon so we don't have to work so much and we can make more videos.
I hate black flies in Maine, in the early spring. LOL!!!
So awesome! Much respect and thank you! I might have missed this in the comments but can you state what time of year you hiked this? Many thanks 🙏🏻
The bug situation is unreal.
Keep making more vids!!!!!!!
Great RUclips page love all the videos. Are you guys interested in doing a new gear review for us?
Dont know if I missed it, but what was the date you started? Early may?
SUMMIT!!!
Wondering what pack your dog is wearing? Looks like a good pack. I have a Cattledog also that I hike with.
Where did Inchworm get lost?
She is the luckiest woman alive!
I wanted to do this with my german shepherd...were their any points in the hike that you had to carry your dog? And is there anything in particular that you brought for your dog to help with the black flies?
It is a super difficult trip for any dog. The rocks hurt his feet and he was licking his paws a lot. I I carried his pack 6 out of the 10 days to relieve him somewhat. Mushers wax seemed to keep the black flies off his exposed skin for the most part.
@@GuideYouOutdoors love mushers secret! Use it all the time, thanks for the info.
Say hello from Korea...🙋♂️
Thanks for the watch, how is the hiking in Korea?
@@GuideYouOutdoors We have Mt.jiri & Mt.halla
It is a beautiful mountain in South Korea...
Very nice 🤩🏕️
cool video livin the dream.. do you have a home in state your from, or just travel the states....thx for the video
We are based out of Vermont
What's the music?
Did the dog sleep in the tent with you or stay outside. Your tent doesn't look big enough for the dog. Hope he didn't sleep outside with the Black Flies.. Looks like his stomach is bit up.
He sleeps in our sleeping bag inside the tent :)
I'd like to think it was the actual world-class professional poker player Phil Ivey who initialed the shelter at 26:26.
Black flies. Those can make you insane.
Black Flys Matter!!😄💪
That Pooch must think he is living the dream, in God's country.
No he's not, he's miserable getting bit up, and his paws chewed up.
