@@davidro8028 I think the son of Tanhaus is like the "true" version of Jonas, with Sonja (Martha) and Charlotte being their original form, and the alternate realities are in some way that family, but "corrupted" sort of, or fragmented...
This whole story reminds me of that greek story that everyone was one in the beginning, but Zeus divided one into two and condemned everyone to find their half... (Sorry if this is badly redacted or doesn't make sense, it's 2 am and I'm tired and sleepy haha)

Jonas and Martha just wanted to live, until they finally could let go the present, future and past. The ending is so sad and satisfying at the same time.
I was thinking here, the best paradox was that Tanhaus 'did' all that to save the family and ended up succeeding, and he didn't even know, because his family didn't die
Yooooo trueee, that was the biggest paradox and time travel of the serie, he complete the mission without even know it !
He basically invented time travel so that time travel doesnt get invented ;)
So the conflict between Adam and Eva was being pro-abortion and pro-life. Got it!

Neither Ulrich nor his descendence exist in the original world! So there's no Martha, no Michael. There's also no Bartosz, because there's probably no Aleksander, so there's no Noah, no Agnes (Tronte's mother, Ulrich's grandma). If Noah doesn't exist, there's no Charlotte and that's why Peter is with another person. That's why none of them are at the table, because they don't exist in the original world!
And... I guess we never knew who's Regina's father since Tronte should not exist in this reality...

They cannot be born again because Claudia never left Regina, Regina never married Aleksander, Barthoz and Silja never met and never had Noah and Agnes, Agnes never gave birth to Trenton, Trenton never had Ulrich, Ulrich is not there and either is Mikkel and Martha.
So basically all of the main characters (at the beginning of the show) were never meant to exist if it wasn’t for time travel. My mind is blown 🤯
Silja was also never born Because Hannah never traveled back either

Everyone in the loop was a prisoner and had no free will , time / fate didn't allow them to do anything that changed the loop. They freed them all by sacrificing their worlds.
They had no control over the evil deeds they all committed because fate was controlling them all along. Their sins were not their own.
And this show what I learn a lot is do not fall in love with men and women lol

I'm still thinking about the fact that in order to stop the car accident, it had to happen. The accident caused time travel to exist and enabled Martha and Jonas to appear and stop it in the first place. Another paradox to keep me up at night lol.

They have to be created for the whole cycle to be destroyed.
For a reality to exist where Tanhaus's child doesn't die.. this cycle has to happen.
Maybe another reality exists where Tanhaus's child doesn't leave the house and the cycle doesn't happen.

The more time that’s passed from seeing this ending, and thinking on the series as a whole, the more I respect and admire it. It was already narratively satisfying, but the more I think about what an interesting balance of satisfaction and emptiness the ending presents, the more I appreciate it, having an ending so seemingly nihilistic and “dark” on the surface, but ultimately having really achieved something. The characters don’t exist anymore, technically nothing they did happens, but at the same time that’s entirely because of their previous existence and their actions. To draw an actual sense of accomplishment from such a place of apparent pointlessness is actually really impressive.
Claudia is the MVP! Like Damn.
The Kid is not Jonas i mean our Jonas its just a Kid that has the Name Jonas in ther real world.

His form is not our Jonas, of course. But I believe the soul will remain our Jonas. The soul can not perish, they will live on in another realm or revive in a new lifetime. The scene of Hannah thought of Jonas's name for the unborn baby kinda gives a hint of the idea of reincarnation.

The fact that as kids, kid Jonas saw young Martha in his basement transitioning through the 3-dimensional portal and similarly kid Martha saw young Jonas, and both of those kids grow out to be those young Jonas and Martha, that means the kid Jonas and Martha that saw these two in the portal in the last episode will also grow out to be them. So, it indicates that this has happened before, i.e. Jonas and Martha going to the origin world, and it is again a cycle!!
So is there actually an end or is it just the beginning of another cycle?

It’s the end. There is no cycle anymore. Jonas’s original father is that guy sitting on the table at finale, but it was michael at the portal.
@@crazedtuber3396 It won't be that Jonas as the genes would be different. Just the name would be common.
But what I'm saying is since our Martha and Jonas have seen each other's future self in the portal in their own past, then obviously it has happened before, which contradicts Claudia's statement that it was the first time it was happening. If it has happened before, then it will happen again.
So, we might be witnessing the beginning of the new cycle.

This ending is so perfect. I’m sad to see it leave but I loved to watch it go away at the same time. Totally going to watch this entire series again for a third time. Just that the first season is so messed up, then the second season makes it even more messed up, till you get to the third season that just compounds further on the messed up from the second season. It’s just so masterfully written. It’s a very underrated show too which is disappointing.
Edit: How they ended it with her saying I like The name Jonas, at the camera almost breaking the 3rd wall, was the shows way of telling us Jonas and Martha are Destined. They *are* perfect for each other and they weren’t a mistake, they will be born to meet each other no matter what, like it may be in a different way through different parents, but they will still find each other, they were the quantum entanglement that held both universes together. What if the entanglement stayed intact through there love or destiny. But that’s just my interpretation of that last scene.
I’ll always remember this series. So damn special, and I’ll miss it so much. I’ll watch the writers’ next projects for sure.

I read it once and thought it was beautiful. that Universe 1 Jonas didn't kiss Martha 2 because they didn't love each other. the Jonas she loved just died to her. and the Martha he loved too.
Remember when Agnes said in 1x08 that her grandmother was from Winden who gushed about the town. I wonder whether she meant Hannah or Regina who both hate Winden... :-D

Here are some fun facts which I gathered about the ending:
Everyone who was supposed to exist in the original timeline and can be seen at the end died because of the ones who weren't supposed to live. If Jonas does live in the original timeline then he will be the only one of the children to live there which would fit in with him being more or less unwelcome in the other worlds.

None of the family tree exists, Jonas and Martha technically never incarnated into the real world so technically yeah they could have yet to be born there - it was 1987 in the origin world when the show ended...
When I look at this it really is incredible and unique story and I always be worried the writers will mess up the story, but they never disappoint me it would have been great to see writing like this done on other CW programs

The thing is that's the part of the cycle and there's no beggining in Jonas and Martha's world.
But we can say why Agnes kill Noah, is because Agnes trust Adams way and her brother Noah try to kill Adam(it means Noah is an enemy).

Well Martha can never be born again. At least not the way we know her. Same with Jonas. Because every Nielsen by blood doesn't exist.
But their chromosomes may exist in the origin world. They may be reborn by different parents having the required chromosomes. Just without time travel and bootstrap paradoxes. It wasn't their genetic make up but the causal dependence on time travel that precluded their appearance in the reestablished (and corrected) origin world after Martha and Jonas prevented the accident and the invention of time travel. Hannah's experience at the end of Dark alludes to "invisible bonds" connecting even erased characters with other characters. Dreaming about how nothingness, paradise feels for the vanished characters, and associating the yellow coat with the name Jonas hints to the "invisible bonds" Hannah has with her vanished counterpart of the erased prime world.
Martha: Do you think anything of us will REMAIN? Or is that what we are? A dream?
That's answered by her Ariadne monologue:

@@waltergro9102 The problem is with the Nielson Family They were a loop themselves:
Martha X Jonas = Origin
Origin X Agnes = Tronte
Tronte X Jana (who actually does still exist in the original world) = Ulrich
Ulrich X Katharina = Martha
They were never supposed to be.
Sure half their chromosomes exist still in Jana and Katharina but it is never told if Jana found someone in her life and Katharina is still confirmed single in the original world.
Just visit the homepage and go through either Jonas or Marthas story line completely and it will show you the Original world family tree. Some still exist but never met like Alexander and Regina (Bartosz never came to be because his parents never met)

Funny to mention game of thrones which was mediocore show from the start. It was ok but never had the heart and soul of Dark. Perry Mason is also way better than game of thrones in my opinion🤔

The name Martha is rather rare, then the mad man (cleft lip dude) coming out of the darkness (remember when he meets Tronte and says we are drawn to teh darkness like moths to the flame).

Just want to know something why didn't the past claudia did this like why did she find the answer this time but not the other times because everything was the same so she had to get the same answer why all this loops
It really is a plot hole. They showed again and again that there's no way out of the loop. Even with the introduction of a parallel universe it was impossible. And it's not just because people always act the same but also because time itself won't allow them to deviate which we saw when Jonas wanted to kill himself. We have to assume that this loop has been going on for a long time and Claudia never figured it out. So why now? They should have at least shown us how she did it.
I liked Season 3 overall, but I feel like the explanations were disappointing, coming out of nowhere. Like how could Claudia even deduce that there was a third world? And how would she know that Tannhaus was the one who created this mess? Why were only two worlds created, wouldn't there be an infinite number of worlds for all the different possibilities? Also, as others have already mentioned, the fact that Jonas and Martha stop the car of Tannhaus' son requires time travel and the two other worlds to exist, creating another paradox and another loop.

Only one question kept without answer... How did any of the Adam/Eve world's members manage to get or create the world-travelling machine? It could have been Claudia, as she was the only one looking for a real exit, but we never saw that happen. ... As we will never get to know what happened to Torben's eye... :D
Well their entire worlds are one giant bootstrap paradox. It is the same thing with the time machine. There is no real discernible point of origin, just like the orgin/unknown aren't really an origin either. It just exists. Like how does the family tree of incest even exist? Their ancestor is born from it's descendants, so where does it actually start? Nowhere.
There's no beggining in Adam and Eve's world.

Can anyone tell me that if Tanhaus never had to make the time machine because Jonas and Martha saved their family, then how did Jonas and Martha actually travel back to the original world? If Jonas and Martha never existed then his family would still die and he would go on to make the machine again resulting into them both.

Marvin Fortez That‘s wrong. There are the origin world (Tannhaus‘ world), Adam’s world and Eva‘ world. Jonas and Martha travel into the origin world but just before the car accident. So Tannhaus will never have to create the time machine to bring them back. So the origin world continues to exist but Adam‘s and Eva‘ world will never be created. Listen to the last episode again. That‘s what Claudia says.

Sad fact: the two actors did not get along very well in the real real world.

Claudia from eva's and adam's World dissapeared as everything in those World, but She is alive in The origin World.
To be simple, Adam and Eve's world and everything in their world are gone, but the one's that wasn't part of the knot will exist in the new world or the 3rd world.
Don't get confuse, there's a three world:
1st WORLD - Tannhaus world where the car accident happened
2nd WORLD - Jonas and Martha's split world
3rd WORLD - The world where the car accident never happen
The 1st world and 2nd world don't exist anymore. And the CURRENT ORIGIN WORLD is the 3rd world(where the car accident never happen).
I definitely love this ending but it could be a little more Dark...
Like showing that Jones and Martha are the ones that caused the bridge accident.. Showing that the entire winden is damned for eternity..
This would be the biggest loop of the whole show... Like whatever happened in the show from episode 1 to this, all was part of this giant loop
They causing the accident and the eternal loop in episode 6-7 and then fixing it up would've been great! It was kind of weird watching a Third World being introduced in the last episode, I thought adding a sencond world at the end of Season 2 was a lot🥴
