Hi, I killed two neocaridin male shrimp by stress using the salt bath method. Two months ago I saw a female shrimp with the parasite and decided no take it out of the aquarium... I read that it,s good; to wet the granules/flakes with Paraguard or similar, dry with a paper napkin and let dry. Feed for 1 week or more. And add alder pineapple (very high tannins). Having so few shrimps, I decided to take a chance and used this method two times. I don't know if it influenced or is just a matter of time (like measles in humans), but the Ellobiopsidae has disappeared! 🍀💣💥 Regards
I cured one of my shrimp that had it! As soon as I saw it I pulled it and stuck it in a small bucket with maybe a few inches of water in it. I put in 3 or 4 small almond leaves and a few Adler cones to get tannin rich water. Did 50% water changes every day and only fed it a small piece of algae wafer every other day. After 2 weeks I noticed the fungus was going down and another two weeks later it was completely gone! Moved the shrimp back in and it’s still alive. That was a month ago and none of the other shrimp came down with it.. Don’t know if any of that actually helped but it got rid of the fungus.
So sadly I had two females infected with this a month after I got them. I removed them from the tank and they are in quarantine. It has been a few weeks and no one in the main tank shows signs of this parasite. Now I would like to get more shrimp but I am concerned about putting them in the same tank. Would you do anything else to treat the tank before adding new shrimp?
What I would do is put them in quarantine tank and observe them till after they have their first molt before you pace them in with the other shrimp. Just to make absolute sure there isn't anything that could contaminate and wipe out your other shrimp.
I had a similar situation with one of my red sakura shrimps infected after about one month that i bought them. I separated that one in a small bottle and trying to see if i can treat. I was wondering if you found any more infected shrimp in that batch after about 7 months?
i found a very young cherry with the green buggers on its belly. i am not going to even try to attempt to spell the ellboswiday lol anyway i pulled it out and put in a gallon hospital tank and did the salt soak and then once more two days later with a very small amopunt of hydrogen peroxide its been two days since the second salt soak and there is no sign of it as far as i can tell but before it was bad now i see none. im not sure ill ever put him back with the colony though
Great zoom quality, and great informative video,as you know I’ve only been keeping shrimp for a little over a month now, well it’s been eventful to say the least lol well a couple weeks ago I found dropped eggs on the floor of my shrimp tank, luckily they were dropped within the hour so I hit them pretty quickly, but they fungus way too fast, but the following day I discovered a much larger egg that looked as though something had broken out of it,then last week I discovered a male with what looked like muscular necrosis,I quarantined him and did a large WC on my shrimp tank and removed all exo’s straight away,I asked for advice on a couple forums but sadly he died, but the following day to discovering him I found 2 females that were berried (I guess it was the large WC that encouraged it,it was this day that I also discovered that shrimp can actually open their rostrum, that was a shock as I’d had no idea they could do this!) and it’s been a almost a week since and I’m happy to say that although I thought 1 had dropped her eggs for the last couple of days,I’m so happy and psyched to say that I saw both females still carrying their beautiful berries today so yay!,although I took a close up photo today as I noticed a light sparing fuzziness around the eyes/rostrum area of 1 of the berried girls, and also beneath the berries, but looking at your awesome close up footage I see that the bit under the berries (attached to the side shields as I call them) is kinda like spikes right at the bottom of those “side shields”,although thinking about it using a picture of an infected shrimp probably isn’t the best comparison lol I mean I knew about scutarella japonica and vorticella and the fact that scutarella japonica is yellow and vorticella is white etc but this parasite I’d never even heard of so thank you so much for educating me again, you’re an amazing shrimp keeper! There’s also a light sparing fuzziness (sadly my close up iPhone camera doesn’t even hold a candle to yours) but although I can see a kindve similar looking appearance on your shrimp I’m still unsure so if you know if they have anything that could be this possible feature of the shrimp/issue please let me know,I also discovered a very tiny shrimp that I believe to now be the shrimp that broke out of that larger egg I discovered last week, even the 1’s I had that were tiny see-through babies at the time I bought them (there were 5 newborns) are much larger than this little 1,it’s so small I can’t even sex it yet (omg that sounds dreadful! Lol) so now I’m convinced this little 1 broke out of that egg,but how on earth did that egg hatch when I couldn’t artificially hatch a freshly dropped clutch, nature is so beautiful isn’t it. Anyhoo,I’m sorry I’m rambling…again lol it’s just that as I’m so inexperienced I’m not sure if any of the other events could be applicable to each other if that makes sense so I try to mention as much as possible. Ooohhh before I forget,I’m considering buying some bacter ae for my shrimp,is this something you’d recommend? Atm I’m only feeding tiny pieces of algae wafers but I want to do my best for my little THE SHRIMPSONS family and I read an article saying this bacter ae is the best complete food for shrimp, and it also promotes huge biofilm growth etc (it’s for sale on pro-shrimp website),if not could I please ask what you recommend as the best food for shrimp please hun. And again, thank you so so much for all you help and advice, thanks to your guidance I have 2 beautiful berried orange jili girls and it looks like they have an enormous amount of eggs,I’m saddened I lost a beautiful male orange jili but sadly such is the circle of life,I’m just hoping I quarantined in time, especially now I have 2 berried girls to care for,I also hope to learn how to treat muscular necrosis,I don’t think I have the right treatments for this cruel disease atm but it’s really hard as most meds aren’t even stocked in the uk which makes things even more difficult and oftentimes impossible, but I’ll keep trying,I’m nothing if not stubborn, but these little guys depend on me for everything so I’m only stubborn to be able to do my best for my shrimp, fish and chinchillas, yup that’s right I said chinchillas lol I live in a madhouse lol
Thanks for the video! This appeared on one of the first shrimps I ordered and at first I thought it was eggs and was really excited but it looked too stringy to be eggs an I quarantined it. Yeah it died.
Great vid and thanks for the info..sorta new to shrimp so dont really know of anything that affects them so thank you for enlightening..keep up the great work..
This video was the deciding factor on me killing one of my shrimp. It had this parasite. Unfortunately it was a very beautiful specimen that had a very dark and rich blue color. Luckily one of the biggest females just had a TON of shrimplets, so I'm sure I'll have plenty to choose from and cull. I see at least 30 shrimplets in the tank. Gonna be plenty of good genetics to choose from.
I have2 with this just noticed it going to try a two step method i read about that sounds promising consisting of every 2 days salt dip followerd by rid ice dosed food in quarintine for up to 4 weeks it should be noted the 2 shrimp are at least 5 months old or more and unlikely from the batch of shrimp i got a year ago which did have a work that was removable with a 30 min salt bath i forget its name But the only new factor is a piece of wood i got out of a poorly maintained tank from a person i rinsed it but didnt sterilize with a boil only thing i can think of that brought this thing in only 2 have it at this time i hope no others develop but will be trying the meathod above to see if its workable
Now do you have much information on the ghost shrimp glass shrimp grass shrimp whatever you want to call them that I have I've had a couple turn white I thought it was a parasite I can't find any information on it other than they're going to die when They turn white but they've been living for a few months like this and they're fine they're eating there happy they're moving around I don't want to just assume that my poor little guys are going to die I figured I'd ask doesn't hurt to ask LOL I don't care if they cost .39 I love my little guys
@@janinegalvan9748 now when you say they can't change skins are they not ready to molt or they can't cuz when I made this video it was a while ago and they live for a few months like that
Hey! Super late but.. as shrimp get old, they get these plaque build ups on their shells. It's super noticable with ghost shrimp. Making them appear fairly white.

Hi, just caught a shrimp that has this. Was wondering if you've had a reoccurence? I'm deathly afraid of it spreading in my colony.
I’d probably treat the whole tank just to be sure :)
Definitely trying this out. I just caught one of the females in my colony having this parasite 😢 hope I caught it soon enough

I’m not sure if there is too much more you can do. I’d probably wait a little long though, about a month before trying some new shrimp out.

Thanks Griezzman! Ellobiopsidae is like Alien
It is 😂
Again, excellent photography!
Thank you!
Still love your intro! If I did the same and sing - I would have no subscribers left. Nice informative video!
Karaoke livestream?! haha! Cheers :)
Very informative video brother. I sure hope I don't ever have to experience it. Keep doing what you do if it works for you.
Me too! As i've not actually experienced it with any of my shrimps yet :o

Shave the goaty, keep the stash, and dye your hair a dirty blond colour. Also get your hair cut. Sorted.
Oh my. Looks like I have my own personal stylist. Thanks for the tips 😁
@@SimplyShrimps Aha sorry, its just your very attractive and i think you have a lot to show of. (Your eyes esp) :)

Is this contagious? Found one of my neos with this today. Now I’m devastated and want to give up
Unfortunately yes :(
Simply Shrimps so should I tear down my tank and just flush all my shrimp down the toilet
No! 😅 just take out the ones that are affected
