    Being a drummer in and around the CT area there is nothing better than getting a text/call/email from someone letting me know that I don't need to bring my kit, but rather my "normal stuff"; sticks, snare, cymbals and kick pedal. Which brings me to a question; why don't you bring your own pedal? I know for me when I'm out seeing a band and they ask me to sit in the first thing I notice, even before how the drums are tuned, is how the pedal feels. If it's a bit wonky that throws me off. Maybe I'm just strange

    Great vid! Was curious to hear your thoughts on one other personal item for most drummers - their throne. Do you have a height memorized or do you just feel that out when using a backlined throne? It’s the first thing that makes me want to die when using a different kit is when the throne is way too low or hobbled together with toothpicks and/or duct tape.

    • @stantonmooremusic
      @stantonmooremusic  Год назад +4

      That’s a great question! I request a DW 9000 throne and I usually get it, but sometimes there might be something challenging.
      Luckily, I still travel with crew, and they advance the show and they make sure that we have what we need before we arrive so I’m usually OK. As for the height, I had been doing it by feel, but then I started realizing I was sitting lower and lower, and then I didn’t like that. So now I’m trying to get it consistent. If I lay a drumstick across the top of the throne over to the the top of the trap case when standing up, that’s about the right height. Thanks for the very practical question! 🙏🏼🥁🙌🏼

    You do not bring your own bass drum pedal. When I travel, I sometimes put clothes in my snare drum to conserve space.

      I used to, but it made the case too heavy to fly. So I request DW 9000 pedals and it usually works out great! I adjust the tension and the cam. 🙌🏼

      @@stantonmooremusic do the airlines ever try to make you pay oversize baggage fees for that case? Looks like it's just barely over the 62 linear inches allowed by most airlines. Wondering if I can reliably get away with a similar barely-oversized case myself. Thanks for the invaluable content!

    Sad, you have a caffeine addition. Now I know why you seem to rush in your drum performances.

      @@stantonmooremusic You are an incredible drummer/teacher. Just surprised and concerned me about your caffeine intake. Keep up the great work.
