Kyle just blew the game going 3 and out after the interception to start the second half and his players not knowing the rules is flat out pathetic.
exactly I completely agree
His players not knowing the rules didn’t actually affect anything though
3 and out on the first 3 possessions. Ran the ball once in 9 plays.
@@mbar7777 yes it does it makes them look incompetent.
@@mr.hemlock1900they decided to go back to the run game after KC took the lead
People say the players not knowing doesn’t mean anything, but I disagree. It shows that the team didn’t even prepare for the possibility of going into overtime. That is unacceptable for the biggest game of the year. I
100% agree. It's their job as professionals to know these things, and it's the coaching staff's job to make sure they know these things. You always want your players to know what must be done to win the game, so they know what is at stake for each play.
Chris Jones won’t get the credit he deserves, but he legitimately won that super bowl for him. Everytime the 9ers had an open man for a TD, he disrupted Purdy’s mechanics. On that 3rd down in OT, Aiyuk and Jennings had their DBs beat, and he was there to save the day!
Totally agree with you. Clearly, so did Andy Reid, as he pushed Chris over and jumped on him in gratitude! They need to PAY this man and keep him with the Chiefs.
The reason he was there. Was because the niners blew the blocking assignment and he was unblocked
Nobody plans enough to study the new rules? Poor leadership.
49ers defense forgot that Mahomes has legs and he can take off.😅😅😅😅😅
Dan...Kyle is the guy who doesn't give Marshawn Lynch the ball at the 1-yard line for the win in Seahawks-Patriots Super Bowl...but tries to throw it to the WR because that's what innovative offensive gurus do.

If you were unaware of the new OT rule, it's not an excuse, it goes on to show your lack of preparation. Chiefs were familiar with the rules and were prepared on offense, defense, and special teams.
Thanks, robinghimire826 👍
I know the rule, can i win a super bowl?
@@bluestacks9748 You can son. 🤡🤡
yeah i immediately thought it was a bad decision. i understand wanting the 3rd possession if it goes to sudden death but that's not even guaranteed so that's very risky. and giving Mahomes 4 plays to get every 1st down to tie or win the game is even more risky because it's almost guaranteed he will convert in that situation. Orlovsky is 100% correct that you have to look at each teams' situation and decide that you give Mahomes the ball first and then give yourself 4 down territory to tie or win.
it's stupid that all these guys getting paid millions not knowing their rules of their job like me saying to my boss oh I didn't know I have to clock in before i start working
I am SHOCKED that some of the players didn’t know the new OT rules!
Without the muffed punt and the blocked extra point you don’t get to overtime, so let’s pump the brakes on the coaching. Losing Dre Greenlaw to a fluke injury doesn’t help. Taking the ball to start was okay with me to give the defense a breather after coming off the two minute drill. I would’ve preferred to have the added benefit of having the extra down in sudden death, but I can live with the decision. Chris Jones played phenomenal and came up huge in big moments, and Mahomes made some big plays in key moments. Every analyst is so quick to insert themselves and place blame, but neither team is there to lose. Sometimes it just comes down to a few key plays from your best players and a little luck.
Two plays do not make or break a game. Sorry. It’s like me saying if Pacheco didn’t fumble in the red zone Chiefs would’ve had a TD and there would’ve been no OT. You can’t possibly know what would’ve happened had those mistakes not been made. Say the 49ers didn’t have their PAT blocked. The Chiefs would’ve known they needed a TD instead of a field goal and possibly gone for it on 4th down and converted then went down to score. It’s just not logical.
I wouldn’t blame it on not knowing the OT rules. Kyle’s conservative play-calling system will never win a Super Bowl.
Adding to Marks point, where were the natural blitz beaters, (quick passes to CMC & Deebo)? This is a no brainer to me.
Exactly Kyle didn't have an answer for the one thing chiefs do every 3rd down smh dam bruh
They say they didn't understand the rules, but the refs clearly explain it to them that it's a new game and both teams get a possession unless a defensive score results. I would have loved to see the clock run out and the 49ers being in total confusion. 😂😂😂
Right? Like I had no more questions after the coin toss. Idk why they were confused. It’s not like they had to listen to Romo talking over the explanation like I did.
I don’t think Fred had an ear piece out there when he chose to take the ball lol
Why didn't we line up both Deebo & CMC in the back field as quick outlets to beat the blitz?
Dumb Shanahan move, more excuses
"It made sense at the time" - The Analytics Folly
That situation for overtime it was like college football to play offense or play defense first
Not quite there’s never a 3rd possession that can win a college ot except a pick 6
It is embarrassing to have a team captain not knowing the rules.
The ref literally explained the rules at the coin toss. So they didn't listen nor cared if they didn't know after the fact
What’s the most embarrassing is the owner Jed York hasn’t even thought of getting rid of Shanahan. Hasn’t entered his head. Not once
@@bobbyjohnson9409why should they
@@bobbyjohnson9409should they get belicheck
If you have the ball first in OT go for 6 or nothing.
Screw the field goal because it gives your opponent 4 downs to win or tie.
If the score is still tied then the 4 downs for your opponent goes away.
If you hear the Chiefs talk about it, they had already prepped for OT in every scenario. If they got the ball second, they would always try to go for a TD and a 2-point conversion (unless they only need 3 and it's a 4th and long). They knew the same thing Shannahan did - if the first team gets the ball back, it's sudden death and the Chiefs were gonna do everything to prevent 49ers getting a 2nd possession in OT.
49ers started the game with trick plays and the Chiefs ended the game with a trick play " Ironic?"
All the 49ers had to do was get a 4th down stop in OT and the game would’ve been over but Mahomes made an amazing play to rush up the middle to convert.
I think the Niners lost because of the punt that was kicked by mistake
exactly
If they would’ve got a first down on that 4 yard 3rd down at the 2 minute warning they could’ve milked the clock to win it with a field goal too
I will give you one better: they only needed 5 yards in 2 downs at the end of regulation to win the game. But Kyle decided to throw the ball twice, when CMC was getting 3.6 ypc
4th and 1 my guy let's relax if this was 4th and 10 you'd have an argument
Kyle is a good coach but NOT a great coach.
Kyle is what you call an idiot
Niners were pedestrian at best the whole game. Defense was the only highlight but it all chalks up to another WASTED season & a embarrassing way to lose not knowing the rules 😂
They should’ve went with the excuse of their defense being a little tired for opting to receive the ball
Giving the best QB in history 4 downs was INSANE!!!
Congratulations KC 👍
People thought the clock had any importantnce in the OT.😂😂
It's crazy to now know that. But it's stupid that that's the rule. No issue with yesterday but that rule is stupid. What's the point of Timeouts ? It's dumb AF
They was hella panicking you can tell lol
@@mml3140Because it's literally a new game, complete with a halftime, if needed
@@UniversalJuan That's dumn tbh.
@@mml3140 Hey, call it what you will. I'm just telling you the rules
The overtime rules had nothing to do with the game. The Niners should have won. They had plenty of opportunities had they not made game-changing mistakes. Of all the comments from every network, social media, etc., nobody blamed Purdy, so that's a win for him. Shanahan will win a Super Bowl; he needs to quit second-guessing himself and just go for it.
Were we watching the same game? Chiefs had plenty of missed opportunities and turnovers also.
agreed with you, it all came down to experience
agreed idk why this OT rule is such a big headline, the biggest issue was not scoring in the 3 quarter
Them not knowing the rules is nuts to me, the rules have been changed for years
Kyle is overrated!!!
When Mahomes steered him down at the coin toss he felt it in his soul
Armstead & Jusz😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wtf...you defer and play defense
😮 That last Mecole Hardman bit.
"It made sense at the time" - The Analytics Folly
my only critique is that Shanahan in hindsight should have elected to not receive. The 2nd team is at an advantage if they know what they need because instead of kicking a field goal on a 3rd and short you get an extra play on 4th if you know you need to get a 1st for a touchdown so I think the new rules and this event will make coaches think diffrerntly in overtime. If I have the lesser QB I want the advantage of knowing what I need and getting 4 downs to get it. And obviously 49er players were confused on that final play they thought it was the end of the game instead of the start of the second quarter had the they ran the clock out. A lot of them even admitted after the game they didn’t realize the new rules meant there wasn’t 8 seconds left in the game but 36 minutes and 8 seconds. That was shameful.
Please dump on kyle, he deserves it time to move him to OC...honestly hes not set up to be head coach and we will not win with him
As a niner fan Kyle Shanahan is ordinary coach in the posteseason especially in SB
and yes of course a GENIUS in the REGULAR SEASON when it doesn´t matter
Your in the SUPERBOWL!! And you don't understand the rules???!! Understand unbelievable!! And to come out and admit your not prepared!!
Love how Armstead has all the time in the world for his podcast but not to acclimate himself w/the rules lol
all these players creating there owns podcast are starting to annoy me lol
Can't blame this one on Jimmy G....
Can't blame it on Brock either.....
Nobody gets blame. And that's exactly why the Niners will forever remain perennial losers
Over time rule is not even 'new.' It's been in place for 3 years!
Kyle still has PTSD from Brady 😂😂. That was dumb decision taking ball first.
Why are they making a big deal over getting the ball first in overtime???? Their defense just came off the field, and it wasn't like the Chiefs were scoring at will. Try to score , give your defense a rest, and let your defense hold them. Unfortunately, Mahomes decided to take over and run , putting his team in a position to win. That's why they were able to get the victory!!
because it simplifies your possession. you gotta score a td if you take the ball first. Also... why the f*ck didn't CMC get shoved down KCs throat
"Their defense just came off the field" and the Chief's offense just came off the field. You rest your defense, but you also rest their offense. So that point cancels out.
It’s a very big deal. If you elect to possess the ball second you know exactly what you need to do in order to win the game if the Chiefs score OR don’t score and you also give your D a chance to win the game for you first. The 49ers kicked a field goal. Say possessions were reversed and Chiefs got their TD on a first possession. The 49ers would’ve gone for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal and possibly gotten that TD to extend OT. It’s huge.
Someone had to lose and Chiefs had the better QB. End of story.
At the end of the first half? They literally had to kick a fg because they ran out of time. That wasn't an error imo and I ALWAYS agree with Orlovsky
Don’t really blame Shanahan for his decision. His defense was gassed.
ABSOLUTELY - THREE-AND-OUT ON OFFENSIVE DRIVES BACK TO BACK WAS UNACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY IN A SUPER BOWL😢😢😢
I don't think it's a bad idea to take it first if you can win on the third attempt. I thought the interception Patrick threw was going to be devastating, but the Chiefs holding them to a three and out right after was a game changer.
Dam bruh tried to get out the truck and was stuck. That's the most horrible thing to see and Imma cowboys fan. That's stone kold.
The play calling bye coach cost them the game
He can’t coach in a big game
After the interception not getting into field goal range
If you have a second year kid as your QB, you dont give him undue pressure in OT take the ball first drive for points (3 or7) and hope your defence defends that lead afterwards. Right call
Nah the 9ers knew about the OT rules. They’re just using that excuse for losing.
Yeah if they're willing to whine about the practice field, lying about not knowing the rules wouldn't be beneath them lol
even as an excuse is poor, it just makes you ask more questions. WHY? HOW?
If Kyle is a “genius” how does he not know the rules
Don't you see Warner breathing heavy!
Bosa missed his assignment in OT!

In O.T. K.C. Almost Stopped 49ers 3 & Out & That Defensive Flag Kept Them Going Or Would Been Over Beginning Of O.T. Instead Of End Of O.T. !!!!....
Why is this even a conversation...The 49ers kicked a field goal 😂😂😂 they woulda lost even with the old OT rules
Because they would’ve never kicked that field goal had they known they needed a TD if Chiefs possessed the ball first and got a touchdown. Then they could’ve possibly converted on 4th down and actually scored a TD to go to double OT.
did Purdy throw a pass beyond 10 yards, really?
Last pick in the draft for a reason #systemQB

Man im just starting to think 49ers a never win with Kyle bruh the only thing can save Kyle is going get a seasoned offensive coordinator like Eric Beniemy and hiring a very good D coordinator get rid of wilks his defensive adjustments is just horrible
49ers losing makes the decisions they took look wrong but no, taking the ball first in the ot with the news is the right choice. the 49ers just couldn't get the job done, that is it
Firable offense?
Lets be honest he called that in OT so the game was in Steve Wilkes and the defenses hands to win the game. He didn’t trust himself and brock purdy to be the last ones with the ball and the game in their hands. Kyle didn’t wanna be blamed for the lose
The red explained the rules right in front of Warner and Mahomes... doesn't make sense.
yall didn’t score a td so it don’t matter
0-3 in Super Bowl. Get rid of Shannahan.
OT doesn’t matter. Niners lost the game in the 4th 2nd and 4 or 5 with a bit over 2 mins to go. Two bad calls right there cost the game. You never give QBs like Mahomes the ball with 1:57. Getting that first down was the entire game.
CMC underutilized. every single time you can see KC getting gassed and CMC starting to feel it they hit the pause and just couldnt commit to pushing the pedal down... at all
You're right. Not sure if Moody would have made that kick, but get that conversation, then wind the clock all the way down. Kick FG with 4 seconds left.
lol, these reactionary clowns
KS passed too much... KS wasn't aggressive enough
Mahomes just went down the field in regulation.... so you should put out the tired defense against him first, ha
Hey y’all!
I'm not the only one who can here the dog barking in the background right? Cx
Let's say that the 49ers decide to kick the ball and the Chiefs receive the ball. The 49ers were not going to stop Mahomes. He would of scored the TD either way. The story was the 49er defense that couldn't get key stops. They allowed Kelce to get open on the last drive of the 4th quarter.
Amateur 49s
Professional Chiefs
so what is it should they have ran the ball more like 40 times or been more aggressive? My guess is neither would have worked they weren't gonna win either way so. Hearing the 49er players say they had no idea about the rules is just CRINGE
They lost that game throughout that game. Not just one play. They were killing the Chiefs on the run in the first half and all of a usdden they stopped running in 2nd half.
JUST SAY THIS: It's legit just a new game. Each team gets one possession guaranteed. If they match points, it becomes sudden death. Pretty simple.🤷🏽♀️
They have the 15 min clock be they get a 2 min break in between if it runs out...and another halftime after the second 15 min quarter.
